Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment] Empty Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment]

Five hundred credits was nothing to scoff at. A thousand was just awesome. Unfortunately, the method of which Lumine would have to acquire said credits was nothing to scoff at either. Normally, she'd be against killing anyone, but when the target's rap sheet contained a murder or sexual assault charge, Lumine didn't just look the other way, she went out of her way to remove the problem from the system by any means possible. That said, Lancaster was B-ranked, not horribly difficult, but certainly no pushover as well. For this mission, she accepted backup from The Bulletin in the form of another harbinger named Haze.

Lumi had laughed a little bit on accepting her help. They were both 19 year old, small girls who carried very large hammers as their main weapon. Haze could have been Lumi's long lost twin sister for all she knew, but beyond that, little was known about her. Their target was located uncharacteristically in the city's southern district. The reason wasn't known, but he wasn't likely going to be there all night. As such, Lumine messaged her backup to meet at a small cafe in the heart of the district, a place they probably wouldn't attract too much attention.

It didn't take too long to get there by public transport. Her backup hadn't arrived yet it seemed. Lumine, dressed in full winter garb to conceal weapons and other tools for her trade walked into the cafe, and ordered a small black mug of coffee, sitting down to wait for Haze to show up. Meanwhile, she laid down her tablet, and looked over the target one more time, wondering if she should have gotten more backup. The man was much older, probably far more experienced than she was. Lumine and Haze were very likely to be injured.

She set her head down on the table a moment and rested, this was probably a bad idea.

But hey, she'd be set for a good amount of time, even if she had to share if this mission went through without a hitch. Maybe it would all be worth it in the end.

Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment] Empty Re: Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment]

This mission was going to be a couple of firsts for Ceara. First B-rank, first time bounty hunting in an unfamiliar district, first time voluntarily accepting help from another hunter. She wasn’t stupid. Lancaster was old, for a harbinger at least, and that said a lot, especially for a member of Diamond Dust. He was going to put up a fight. He wouldn’t be caught easily, nor –if it came down to it- would it be easy to kill him. Ceara preferred to deliver a live body, but if it was easier to kill than to capture and risk injury, she had no problem with it.

She snapped out of her thoughts as the crackling voice of the Metro conductor announced her stop. She made her way out of the station, ignoring the angry shouts from people getting shoved out of her way, and climbed up the steps, shielding her eyes from the sudden glare of the sun. Ceara didn’t know much about this Aelio, besides that she was near her age and had a similar affection towards hammers. The café she had chosen to meet at was a relatively small one, thank god. Ceara hated being in a room with too many people. Paranoia bred from living in the South, she guessed.

She stopped in front of the café’s modest storefront and peered inside. A young woman, seated at the farthest booth from the door, nursing a black mug, caught her eye and nodded. Ceara hoisted her hammer over her shoulder and pushed open the door. As she walked over to the booth, she gave the other girl a quick once-over, noting the winter clothes. Probably concealing too many weapons that’ll slow her down. Noticing that Aelio was staring right back at her, Ceara affixed a smile on her face and sat down in front of the red head. Extending a hand, Ceara said, “Haze. Nice to meet you. I’ve never been here, is there anything good?”

Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment] Empty Re: Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment]

It didn't take long for Lumine's backup to show. A mere 5 minutes separated her partner's arrival, and Lumi's coffee order. Maybe this night would go well after all. At the very least, she was punctual enough to give at least a slight air of seriousness, especially as they were probably going to be killed. Nahhhh, that was terrible thinking. Maybe seriously maimed. Yes, that fit the bill much easier than actually losing their lives over this entire ordeal. Lumine had the intention of coming home alive and relatively undamaged. Now, if killing a murderer that was proven a menace to society would do that, and she got to eat for a few months, all the better. Haze was about Lumi's size, white hair, and probably more than one might think of at first. Good way to blend in, mostly.

"Aelio. The pleasure is mine, please sit, the coffee actually isn't so bad."

Lumine shook her hand and handed over her tablet and some notes, shaking Haze's hand while doing so. May as well share the information that she had available, which was admittingly, not much to begin with.

"I've been trying to take notes and correlate with some sources, but the best I've got so far is that he's in the area right now. I'm not sure why a up-classed person like him would be here in the district, but I suppose we might find that out when we get to him."

If they got to him. Bounty missions occasionally were wild goose chases. The Bulletin was pretty close about their intelligence, but as always, by the time the hunters got to their target, he could be gone, or otherwise out of the area. Or even already dead. It depended on the area. However, being less than 24 hours since the information was posted, it was probably still at least half decent or otherwise. Not great, but it should at least give them a light edge over their competition.

"I know it's probably obvious, but there's a park pretty close to here, if anything, he'll be hanging in, or around there."

The server brought small pot of coffee that Lumi used to refill her own mug. She was going to be wired tonight. But better wired than dead.

Signaling for a cup of coffee, Ceara glanced through the notes that Aelio passed over. It wasn’t much, but at least she was prepared. Maybe working with her wouldn’t be so bad. The redhead seemed to be the all business type, so Ceara wouldn’t have to put up the friendly act.

"I've been trying to take notes and correlate with some sources, but the best I've got so far is that he's in the area right now. I'm not sure why a up-classed person like him would be here in the district, but I suppose we might find that out when we get to him. I know it's probably obvious, but there's a park pretty close to here, if anything, he'll be hanging in, or around there.”

Ceara nodded. She had noticed the park on the way to the café, in fact. For a person hunting a man that could control wood, it was a nightmare. Because of its dense bushes and trees every 10 feet, walking into that park would be walking into a woody death trap.

The waitress came back with a small pot of coffee and a second mug. Ceara waited patiently for the other woman to refill her cup before pouring herself one. After taking a sip (It really was good coffee), she took a deep breath.

“Though, yes, he’ll probably be in there, it’s suicide confronting Lancaster in a place where he has the advantage. The smartest thing to do right now is to somehow push him into a more urban area, a place where his ability is limited, if that’s possible.” She frowned. “I’m not familiar at all with this District, so we’re really going to have to work together.”

Well good, fellow coffee drinkers and hammer throwers at heart. Well, maybe not throwers, but the point remained, this was going to be a strange encounter. The two were not particularly suited to combat in a dense jungle. Despite them having the advantage just about anywhere else in the city, their target had probably chosen a location that was at least close to the park...it was unlikely that he was directly in it if he was simply going about his business. The only business that she knew of in the park was a small pushcart that sold hot dogs. The only reason the vendor was there in the first place was because he was a grizzled old guy that nobody took advantage of.

Ever.

"Unfortunately, the district doesn't turn majorly urban until you're well out of the park, and by then, one of the parties will probably be dead. The best I'm guessing we can do is get him away from the trees and into the grass, maybe onto a few side streets. Beyond that, I'm at a loss."

The waitress was back.

"Miss, have you seen this man?"

Lumine held up a picture of Lancaster, the waitress groaned a little bit in frustration. As she placed some munchies down for the pair.

"Yeah, he left without leaving a tip, said something about a hot dog in the park and the gardens. The jerk."

"I see, thank you much."

Lumine turned back to her partner in this situation and sighed. Well, at least that more or less confirmed their beliefs on his location, now it was just a matter of taking him. And that, considering the circumstances in which they had accepted the mission, was not going to be easy at all.

"Anyway, I agree that we'll definitely have to work together. Got any suggestions? I'm certainly open to them."

“…Got any suggestions? I'm certainly open to them."

“Well, first thing we do is obviously make sure he’s near the hot dog stand. After that…” Ceara took another sip of coffee and pinched the bridge of her nose. Honestly? She had no idea. No major urban areas? This is why she hated this area. She was perfectly at home hidden behind buildings and sneaking around shady alleys, but drop her anywhere with green stuff and she was as good as useless. She sighed and closed her eyes. They knew where he was and what he looked like, but capturing the man in broad daylight in a public area wasn’t going to be easy. Her ability was completely useless in this situation.

...Oh god I'm an idiot.

Ceara mentally slapped herself for her mistake, and opened her eyes. “Ugh, this should’ve been the first thing out of my mouth, but you’re obviously a Harbinger.” She gestured towards Aelio’s strange green eyes. “What’s your ability? I can see… I guess you can call it the aura of a person. It tells me the person’s emotions, how they’re feeling, etcetera.”She squinted, concentrating on the girl in front of her. Mostly light gray-blue, flashes of red, gently pulsing. “You’re pretty calm right now, though you’re pissed, probably because we aren’t getting any closer to the target.” She frowned as her vision blurred. Rubbing her eyes, she sighed. "Unfortunately being able to tell how Lancaster is feeling wouldn't really help us capture him." Ceara raised her cup up to her lips and downed the remaining coffee.

Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment] Empty Re: Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment]

Post by Lumine Fri Aug 17, 2012 8:29 am

Lumine chuckled a little at Haze's notion of making sure he wasn't near the hot dog stand.

"Yes, I suppose that would certainly be a good first course of action wouldn't it?"

So, that was that. The both of them had no ideas. It was possible that this bounty was simply not worth the risk, and the two would head home after a small debate. It was money, and while Lumine had enough, a little extra never hurt. Putting away a murder was also a nice boon, although at the risk of both their lives, Lumine would not have it. The park was not far from where they were, and according to the waitress, he was still nearby. Hell, it's likely either one of the hunters could have simply passed him on their way into the cafe. But who knew at this point. Then, Haze brought up a point that made Lumi shake her head. She had forgotten as well.

"Oh...yeah, that probably would have helped. Kinetic amplification fields. Makes fast things go faster, burn brighter, or explode bigger. You get the idea."

And that wasn't the rest of it. It sounded like her backup knew pretty much what she was thinking, while she was thinking it. It was a strange feeling actually. Not really creepy, but different, as you became self-conscious about your own emotion.

"Yeeeeah, I suppose I'm a bit upset, I expected this to be a bit easier, but then when I got here, there was the park, and well. Yeah. I wouldn't sweat about your ability. We're not going anywhere really."

That was a lie. Screams were heard down the street, right from the park. Even if they didn't want to do anything, Lumine was already out of her seat, money on the table, and nearly out the door, waving her hand towards Haze on her wait out and running for the park, what they would find however, was anyone's guess.

Post by Ceara Fri Aug 17, 2012 12:02 pm

When she heard the screams coming from the park, Ceara froze. If they were caused by the man they were looking for, what would they do? They had absolutely no plan at all. Though that didn’t seem to stop Aelio at all, as she threw money onto the table and ran out the door. Ceara sighed, hoisted her hammer up, and sprinted after her.

Ceara was almost relieved to find that the cause of the scream was from a young woman being threatened by a teenage boy with a knife. Her left arm, which she clutched to her side, was bleeding profusely, staining her light blue dress a dark red. It would’ve been easy for Ceara to step in and stop the boy (If he was stupid enough to attack a woman in a very open place during the day, he was going to be clumsy. Hell, he was even holding the knife wrong.), but a glimpse of a tall man staring at the same scene from behind a tree a good distance away stopped her. Ceara’s eyes widened, then narrowed as she concentrated, bringing the man’s aura into focus. She froze.

Dark red. Rapidly fluctuating. …Bloodlust?

She shut her eyes tightly as a wave of nausea hit her. When she opened them again, the man was gone. Letting out a small growl of frustration, she tapped Aelio’s arm. “Saw a tall man, aura’s moving like a crazy person’s.” She gestured towards the blood-stained dress. “Get what I mean?”

Post by Lumine Fri Aug 17, 2012 9:15 pm

Lumine didn't know why she simply rushed in. Normally, she would have taken the time to think about the situation she was in, but in the heat of the moment, blew her thinking out the window and simply rushed in. That said, she didn't find her target. Instead, a common mugger who apparently thought that robbing someone in broad daylight was a smart idea. Either he was amazingly desperate, or amazingly stupid, either of which could get him killed. Unlike Haze, who stopped suddenly before engaging the boy, Lumine charged the boy, and using his own bad form against him, leveled him to the ground in a single motion, grabbing his knife hand, nearly crushing it, and knocking him straight out with a second blow.

While she was looking down at the aggressor to see who the hell he was however, Lumi received a tap on arm, she turned around to see Haze nudging over towards another man, then down to the dress of the injured woman. She seemed alright enough to seek her own medical attention...but...

“Saw a tall man, aura’s moving like a crazy person’s. Get what I mean?”

Oh...OH.

Their target was prone to bouts of bloodlust. This would explain everything. Although Haze had touted herself as useless in combative situations, only she had been able to find their quarry. There was woody area around sure, but nothing nearly as dense as the middle of the park. The pushcart vendor himself seemed to be standing by, still doing business like nothing had happened at all.

"And you said you were useless. You lied."

Lumine smiled, and got up. Looks like they were going to get some action after all, if they liked it or not. Back in her mind however, she hoped that Haze had more up her sleeve. Lancaster looked practically ready to kill someone. At this point, Lumi put their chances at 50/50, but at the least, she had far less to worry about now that there was only a few small trees around.

"Ready?"

"And you said you were useless. You lied." Ceara smirked at Aelio’s mildly impressed look. If she was good at anything, it was lying, though this time she didn’t do it intentionally. She honestly hadn’t expected that seeing emotions was going to help much during this chase.

“Ready?”

Not at all, Ceara thought, but she nodded. They only took a few steps before a groan from the ground caused her to look back at the boy sprawled out on the path. He was regaining consciousness, and when his eyes opened, they flicked up to meet her purple ones. Motioning for Aelio to wait, she walked up to him, glared at him for a couple of moments, then promptly picked up her hammer and brought it down a few inches from his head, hard enough to leave a small crater in the asphalt. Ceara stared at him for a bit more, then gave him a huge bright smile, after which he –if you went by the smell- shit himself and passed out again.

Ceara walked back to her partner and looked around. An old pushcart with a large, vandalized image of a hot dog, manned by a single man, was nearby. Not waiting to see if the other girl was following her, she made her way over to him.

"Hmmm?"

Lumine stopped as Haze made the motion to wait just a second. She turned around, saw her beaten adversary regaining consciousness, and before she could do anything Haze brought her own hammer down several inches from his fearful face. Lumi shook her head, but she was laughing all the same. Her partner might have been a little sadistic, but it did bring at least an ounce of humor to their otherwise sad state of affairs. Meanwhile, Haze had started to make her way over to the pushcart. So far, their target was docile, but as the sight of blood lingered, that notion could change at any moment.

As such, Lumine unbuttoned her coat, and got ready, just in case he decided to pull a fast one on their little team. No doubt he knew he was being hunted, and it was likely he knew WHO was hunting him as well. A dangerous situation without much of an escape.

"I'm assuming you have an idea? Or are we just getting a hot dog to go?"

Not that she'd mind. Pushcart hot dogs were often quite amazing.

Meanwhile, the lady had picked herself up and was making her way quickly inside, most likely to call for medical aid. Normally Lumine would do the call, but they currently had more pressing matters to attend to. Their target was watching them.

And probably getting ready.

Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment] Empty Re: Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment]

Post by Ceara Sat Aug 18, 2012 1:04 am

This kind of paranoia wasn’t the kind that Ceara was used to. Being on edge, watching your back because you think you might be snuck up on was completely different from knowing that you were in danger. She didn’t like it, not one bit. Lancaster was somewhere in the area-in his element, watching, waiting, and about to snap. Ceara took a few deep breaths and forced her thoughts to settle down. No use panicking, at least not yet.

"I'm assuming you have an idea? Or are we just getting a hot dog to go?” she heard the other girl quip from behind her.

“I wouldn’t mind getting a hot dog, actually. And I’m out of ideas, I’ll think of something eventually. Just watch your back.” Ceara sighed. “I guess… show the old guy the picture, ask if he’s seen him, that kind of thing? And, of course, get a hotdog. I’m starving.”

Strolling over to the cart, forcing her movements to be casual, Ceara smiled at the man and ordered a hotdog. She stepped aside as Aelio walked up behind her and waited for her to order herself one as well. Ceara sighed again, watching the man prepare her food. A small gust of wind shifted the hat on his head, exposing a lock of sandy-brown hair. A quick scan of his aura later, her face paled. Nudging Aelio again, she motioned with her head towards the vendor.

...Shit, she mouthed.

Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment] Empty Re: Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment]

Post by Lumine Sat Aug 18, 2012 1:37 am

Although Lumine wanted to engage their target, it looked like he was waiting for something. As such, they didn't want to fall into what was such an obvious trap. May as well make the best of it and get something to eat, as they had left their previous munchies back in the cafe. Every minute they waited, the greater chance he was going to get away without their pursuit. Unfortunately, there wasn't a damn thing they could do about it except munch, and hope he would get away from the damn tree. Unfortunately, it looked like it wasn't going to happen.

“I guess… show the old guy the picture, ask if he’s seen him, that kind of thing? And, of course, get a hotdog. I’m starving.”

"I ate a little, I'll wait and watch our friend over there."

And watch she did, although he did nothing but stare back, prompting Lumine to look away back to the cart at Haze ordering her hot dog. When a small gust of wind blew, she turned back around around towards the tree. Where there was once a man, there was no one. He had gotten away. Defeated, Lumi turned once again as Haze poked her for attention?

"Eh?"

Lumi saw it instantly. Sand brown hair, a slightly on edge grin. There was still blood on her hands and...his eyes. That was trouble incarnate.

"You're under arr--"

Lancaster didn't bother waiting, and instead lifted a hand, willing vines to grab both their ankles. Lumine was stuck, but while she had rooting so to speak, she threw off her coat, grabbed her hammer, and swung without a kinetic field. Food, metal and other sorts of pieces of debris exploded from the pushcart. Unfortunately, none of which involved a particular harbinger. He had dodged, and was now well out of range, gearing up to probably kill them both.

"Great. Just great."

Lumine started uprooting herself, but how long that would take would take was beyond her. Instead, she used her hammer, and dug up Haze's roots much more easily than she'd be able to get her own. They had walked right into the trap they had been trying to avoid. Bloody hell.

Well, fuck.

The fucking bastard probably had this all planned out. He was well out of either of their ranges now, and was simply staring at them. Ceara felt the vines around her ankles loosen, and she quickly stepped away. Never letting the older man out of her sight for one moment, she crouched down and returned the favor, making quick work of Aelio’s bindings.

Leaning close, so that her partner could hear her whispers, she murmured, “My guess is, he can only fight long range. Anything closer would put him at risk of getting hit or caught by his own weapon. We can probably push him towards the grass and away from any trees by just rushing him and hoping he keeps his distance.”

Concentrating on his form, Ceara focused. His aura was rigid, completely motionless. A normal aura still moves, like a heartbeat. Because his aura was fluctuating so much before, this probably meant he was getting ready for some- There! The glow suddenly flared, and it was from pure instinct that Ceara dodged the incoming branch.

Ignoring the sudden dizziness that hit her and inwardly praying that she would catch him off guard, Ceara ran towards him.

Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment] Empty Re: Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment]

Post by Lumine Sun Aug 19, 2012 10:54 am

In a twist of irony, the pair of hunters had suddenly become the hunted. The two had walked right into a trap that could be considered delicious by some, and evil by a few others. Despite their apparent disadvantage however, Lumine had an ace up her sleeve, almost literally. While Haze worked to undo the shackles around Lumi's ankles, Lumi took the second weapon set from her coat: a carbon fiber, steel-stringed tennis racket, and a can of tennis balls. Although her target was over 30 yards away, he was actually well within range, provided of course Haze was successful with her bindings.

Soon enough as well, she was.

"If he wants to fight long range, that's fine. We'll stop him. Get close, I'll be right behind you."

As Haze bumrushed for her quarry, a branch slammed into the ground, splitting the hunting pair, Haze dodging left, and Lumine rolling right at an angle to Haze. Now fully pissed off that she had let him draw the two into an ambush, Lumine popped open the can of tennis balls, and tossed one in the air. Right at the apex, a shimmering effect, like a warp could be seen, right before the racket crashed into the ball with an overhead smash. A kinetic amplification field amplified both the racket speed, and the balls energy from the impact. There were three audible cracks.

One from the ball hitting the racket, the second from the ball breaking the sound barrier, and the third from Lancaster's left ankle being broken like a window, and scorched along with it. He immediately fell down, although not before retaliating, and pasting a large branch into Lumine's back, knocking straight down to the ground and immobilizing her once again.

"Get him!"

Ceara flinched when she heard the loud cracks, but she relaxed when she figured out it was from Aelio. Lancaster went down, and a split second later, so did her partner. Ceara was torn, hesitant to go after the man without backup, but her decision was made when Aelio screamed, "Get him!"

Ceara ran over to the man, who was on the ground, clearly in a lot of pain. As she approached, he looked up and smirked, gesturing with a hand. A large vine came swinging at her head. She ducked under it, unfazed. Lancaster laughed, an unstable sort of laugh that shot chills down Ceara's spine.

"I control everything around you! What makes you think you, a simple, stupid girl, can capture me?" To demonstrate his point, he motioned again, willing the branches and vines to attack her all at once. "Aren't you a bit young to be fighting? What are you, 10?" He cackled again. "Go back home to your mother, little girl!"

Growling at his last comment, Ceara put in an extra burst of speed, dodging and ducking under his attacks. With her hammer trailing behind her, she used her momentum to swing her hammer towards the side of his chest.

Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment] Empty Re: Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment]

Post by Lumine Sun Aug 19, 2012 9:27 pm

It had felt like she had broken something on the fall. A leg maybe? Who knew. The branch still lay atop her, pinning her to the ground so that she could barely move, much less get up. If Haze didn't finish the job, it was quite likely that Lumine was going to die here with her face in the mud. To be perfectly honest, she had no expectation for her to come back, even if she did finish the job. After all, one harbinger down...Haze could simply collect the reward and be done with it. Not a particularly good thing, but then again, when you fought for survival, every little bit did help.

Laying her head down on the grass, hearing a significant laugh from the other side of the field, Lumine was quite ready to assume the worst.

At least, until a pair of legs appearing in front of her face did Lumine a favor by lifting the branch off her back, letting some much needed air get into Lumi's lungs.

"Nice shot. You have a powerful arm for a young lady."

"A lot of good it did me."

Lumine tried to get up, she plopped back down to the ground after trying once or twice. On the third attempt, the lady simply laid her hand on Lumi's back, preventing her from attempting any more attempts to separate herself from the earth. It just wasn't going to happen in her state.

"I'll go help your friend. Stay still and...yeah, stay still."

"Not like I'm going anywhere."

And with that, the lady, who Lumine had noticed stopped bleeding quite quickly from a stab wound, was well on the way to helping Haze finish the bounty. This probably meant sharing the prize, but at the least, they would escape with their lives. And maybe something a little extra on the side as well...

Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment] Empty Re: Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment]

“Fucking hell!” Ceara swore as vines wrapped around the handle of her hammer, effectively stopping its downswing, and tore it out of her grip, sending it skidding in the dirt twenty feet away. Because of her speed and the sudden jolt of having her weapon wrenched out of her hands, Ceara couldn’t stop herself from falling hard on her right side. Hissing in pain, she sat up and rolled her shoulder. Good, not dislocated. She stood up, grimacing. I’m having my ass handed to me by a guy who can’t even move. Bloody fucking hell.

“Need some help?”

Ceara glanced towards the direction that the voice came from. That lady… She sighed and prayed she wasn’t another bounty hunter. “If it means splitting the bounty, then no, I don’t need help.”

“If I were you, I wouldn’t be worried about the bounty.” Taking a quick scan of the woman’s aura, Ceara noted that she wasn’t hostile, at least not towards her. Though that could change any moment. Ceara opened her mouth again, but was cut off by the lady. “Your friend’s fine, now pay attention!”

Ceara’s gaze flicked back to the man on the ground, who was breathing heavily. His eyes weren’t focused on her, instead he stared at the woman. More specifically her dress. “Crap. Miss, your-“ was all she could get out, before Lancaster let out a gleeful shriek and sent branches and vines speeding their way.”

Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment] Empty Re: Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment]

Despite having been put down by the woman in the dress, Lumine was not one to give up because of a few broken parts, although to be fair, it would have been better for her body to do so. Using her hammer as a cane, she propped herself up, and started walking slowly to the three bodies a little farther down the field, limping along the way. It would be about thirty seconds before she got close.

Meanwhile, their newly acquired friend was making some headway against their bounty target. The blood on her dress was making Lancaster, despite his own injured state, recall almost into a primal frenzy where pain wasn't felt, but instead a simple and primordial anger that was something not exactly human. Vines and other assorted plant material shot in every which way, missing Lumine by several inches. The dressed lady jumped, drew a short sword, cutting everything coming at her with a skill not unlike that of some sort of ninja. After the vines had settled, she approached with unnatural speed, and shredded Lancaster's arm to no avail. He still had one left, and used it to will plants to attack the lady in full force, driving her right back close to Haze.

Lumine on the other hand, approached close to his blind spot and made up her mind.

Lancaster was a threat to the entire city and its inhabitants...and his life must be extinguished for the good of the city.

She whipped her hammer around, flipping him onto his back. The surprise of this sudden turn stopped the vines in quick process.

"You are a menace. And a disgrace to Harbinger's everywhere. I'm sending you to Hell in a thousand pieces."

Without another word, Lumine formed a kinetic field around her hammer, and swung it down like a golf driver, practically exploding the mans upper half, and certainly separating the two parts. With Lancaster dead, Lumine fulfilled her price by gather up a bit of bone and blood from Lancaster's body, and sealing it in a bottle.

"Never again. Let's go."

"Wait."

"What do you want?"

Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment] Empty Re: Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment]

Ceara blinked. She was by no means a squeamish person, but Aelio’s speech and the whole exploding body thing… were a tad dramatic. Wiping off the various pieces of flesh from her clothes, she walked over to Aelio, who, strangly enough, was collecting remains of Lancaster’s body into a small bottle. Ceara shrugged. If she had a weird thing for that, who am I to judge?

"Never again. Let's go." The other girl stood up.

The lady in the blue dress took a step forward. "Wait." Ceara glanced at her, curious.

Aelio frowned and turned to face her. “What do you want?” she said.

“That was quite impressive, on both your parts.” The woman looked at the two girls. “I would like to proposition something. You see, my gang had been looking for this man for a long time, and we weren’t sure if he was the right target, even when I was undercover. But you two… you two successfully found and killed Lancaster not even 24 hours after his bounty was posted.” Her lips twisted up in a smile. “We could probably use-“

Ceara interrupted her. “What gang.”

The lady blinked at the interruption, but her smile widened nonetheless. “Solstice.”

Ceara frowned. She, in her five or so years on the streets, had never considered joining Solstice. She had seen what they could do -what they have done- to people. They were certainly a dangerous and well known gang, so why would she, who thrived on being under the radar, join them? “What’s in it for us?”

"For the most part? Protection.”

Ceara understood what she meant by that. Solstice was violent, and their influence was wide-spread. But Ceara didn’t need protection, she could deal with anyone that wanted to cause trouble with her or… Talia. Talia wasn’t a harbinger, and she was skilled at stealing, not fighting. Ceara couldn't count how many times she had to save her best friend's ass when she got in too deep. She couldn’t be around her all the time, today was a good example.

She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. “I accept. Though I want that protection extended to my friend.”

“Done.” The woman turned to the other girl. “And you?”

Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment] Empty Re: Under A Glass Moon [Lumine/Ceara] [Solstice Recruitment]

Despite this woman's high praise of the impromptu team, Lumine couldn't possibly agree with her, although she remained quiet throughout the explanation. Sure, they had a general location of Lancaster, much like the woman had, but it was only by luck, and with some minor stupidity that the two had even found him in the first place. And then there was the matter of actually killing him. Lumi hadn't actually intended to end his life, but after almost killing her and another harbinger, and being an overall menace to the city, she couldn't help but to send him on his proverbial way.

Killing wasn't like her, but apparently, there was something more to that thought that met the eye.

“What gang.”

“Solstice.”

Well. The woman wasn't kidding when she said she had a proposition. On the outside, Solstice was violent, chaotic and could otherwise be described as the city's own terrorist group. But then again, they did well to protect their interests, which included social groups and harbingers in general. Their methods were highly questionable in some instances, but no doubt highly effective as well. Haze was quick to accept, and got some extras thrown in as well.

"Throw in protection for my sister, and I'll do it."

"Also done. We'll be in touch."

"I'm sure."
