It was funny how when she wanted to get drunk it was almost impossible. Although, she could hold in her liquor well, you would think that a couple of cocktails, margaritas, and a few martinis followed by some vodka would do the trick, but no. Sadly, she still felt conscious. Another sip of her pina colada was finally beginning to knock her into a drunken state. Akuji had always wondered what type of drunk she was, happy or emotional. Either way she didn’t intend to find out.

Akuji sprawled herself against the counter top and felt as though she was beginning to lose herself. She hiccuped and began to cry. The woman pushed herself back up and tried to take another big gulp of her drink as the warm liquid forming in her eyes began to fall down her face.

She felt completely insane. Akuji wanted to scream, laugh, and cry all at the same time. Her emotions kept changing and she couldn’t seem to get a grip of reality anymore.

“God, god, god!” She whispered, “I hate this, I hate her.” Then she began to laugh uncontrollably. It was just so funny. The thought of her sister being gone for exactly 4 years felt so hilarious to her. That very day was the day she disappeared. Akuji laughed and laughed and collapsed onto the counter. Barely conscious, she stopped smiling and the tears reformed.

“I wanna forget.”

Another day back in West, and this time it wasn't for eating pastries or catching psychotic little girls searching for the land beyond the looking glass. Nope he was here this time for no particular reason at all besides having way too much free time. He was still recovering from the 'Alice' bounty, which explains why he wasn't taking any right now. It had been a about two weeks or so since that incident and he was starting to think this break lasted long enough.

He pulled out his cheap flip phone, planning to check the bulleting for any listings of D-ranks near his area. A vibration sounded as a new text message came in. From Akuji.

Kier choked and blinked when he read the context, rereading it several more times as if the content would just change, sure that there was something wrong with his eyes. But no, there in plain black type read:

'Heyyyyyy cutie come meet me at the Dusk Lodge right noww. I'll be waiting ♥♥♥'

"What the actual..." This had to be some sort of sick joke. Wait, Akuji wasn't the type to play jokes. Maybe she dropped her phone and some weirdo picked it up. Rereading the message for the tenth time, he decided not to bother. There's no way in hell Akuji sent that.

Turning his head, Kier saw the sign for the Dusk Lounge right behind him. It was a bar. A lightbulb clicked in his head, putting two and two together. The blue-haired female was drunk and sending teeanager messages. Was she even a person who would get drunk? That seemed unlikely, considering she was the one who advised him not to get drunk the last time.

For the sake of entertainment and lack of better things to do, Kier pushed open the door. There, sobbing at the bar, was Akuji's unmistakeable blue hair. Aaaaand this was officially the most fucked up sight he's seen in a while. Serious, commanding Akuji breaking down in a bar. Why she was even here was beyond him.

"You okay?" he asked from the door. He approached her just as the woman let out a hysterical laugh. It was going to be a long night...

If someone had wanted to forget something, then a bar was the best place to do it. That was what people said, wasn't it? Alex thought it was complete and utter bullshit, but he still put up with the mopey people that came in at a snails pace to the Dusk Lodge every evening in hopes that the bartenders there would be their free shrinks for the night, despite the increase in danger the plagued the city when the sun went down. Mostly since he could charge them extra, cut down on their drinks to save alcohol when they seemed too wasted and possibly get better tips from the ones that spoke more.

Sometimes, however, there were those people that could alter the entire mood of the bar, because when you invited Harbingers to come and drink here along side the Non-Harbingers, you never knew the type of trouble you were letting inside your establishment. Alex was still the king of his domain though, fairly confidant that he could rumble with whatever drunken (or sometimes sober, since not everyone could/would drink) idiot that decided to stir up shit. The Lodge had two know unspoken rules. 1.) Leave all gang bullshit at the door, and 2.) The man with the violet cat eyes can, and will, kick your ass.

Tonight, it seemed, there was one of those people. Not one of the ones that came to start shit or had gang business, but the one that seemed to alter the atmosphere of the bar. She had been a little easy on the eyes when she first came in, but a few drinks later and she had patrons gradually inch away from her. There was the occasional guy that tried to approached, but most were turned away as Alex stood behind the bar as they tried to hit her up. His glare was probably what did it, but Alex was glaring more often than not, so it wasn't anything new.

Thinking back to how the girl was acting, however, made him wonder if it was more her than him.

“I wanna forget.”

"You've come to the right place then," Alex said as he wiped down one of the glasses of liquor she had just finished. He had watered down the last couple drinks she ordered by just a smidgen, since having the girl pass out his counter seemed like a bad idea. He hadn't known if she had anyone to call to come pick her up, didn't know where she lived (since his relationships with his patrons usually ended when they left his bar; also it would be creepy if he had when he didn't really know her aside from her troubles) and didn't know what would happen if he tried to move her.

"You okay?" someone had asked as he entered the bar. The door was quite a ways from the counter, but Alex only heard the man since the bar was never overly loud and the music he had on was playing at a comfortable setting. Violet eyes glanced at the man as he approached, but Alex hadn't glared since the man seemed to know her. Good. The guy seemed a little familiar, but not someone who he had taken the time to remember. Probably just someone that he saw walking through the District among the sea of faceless people that droned through their days in the City.

"She is just a little drunk," Alex informed him before setting the glass he was cleaning down. He flipped up a clean one and filled it with two cubes of ice and cold water, serving it to the guy that took the seat next to the woman at the counter. The first glass was always free. Alex was dressed as per usual in his work uniform, but was wearing the black headband on so that his hair was pushed out of his face and his violet cat-slit eyes were in plain view.
"You having anything?"

She felt slightly better when she saw that head full of red-violet hair. The woman had to blink twice before registering his presence.

"Kier," she sobbed, voice cracking. She took short breathes and pushed herself back up so she was once again sitting straight up. Looking at the man in front of her she felt liquid slid down her cheek. She swallowed down the salty flavor.

Thinking back to that devastating  day four years ago, she could make out another memory that she thought was once lost. The memory of meeting a person with the same colored hair and vibrant eyes as the person before her. Akuji flung herself onto Kier. Her arms wrapped around his neck as she buried her face in his chest.

"She is just a little drunk," the black haired bartender that had been making her drinks all night stated. Akuji was too busy letting out all she had been bottling in to notice.

"It haunts me. The memories of that day. I hate it. I can't do this, I can't anymore." She felt broken and vulnerable. Where was that headstrong woman she once saw in the mirror? "I don't even know who I am anymore," she whispered silently to herself.

The room was beginning to swirl. She could no longer make out anything. Kier was no longer there and neither was the bar. She wrapped her arms around herself. She felt so cold, so alone. It was just her and the darkness just like how it was years ago.
