Dupree was angry at himself that someone had come in and destroyed the headstones of a couple of graves in the middle of the night while he was there. It didn't take long to find out it was Tweedledee and Tweedledum after getting a glimpse of their power in action as they barreled through a couple of gravestones for fun before they ran off. Dupree had already called the families that owned the plots of land where the stones were destroyed and promised that the headstone would be replaced, but he still needed for people to come in and choose a design for their deceased.

This meant most of his and his sister's day was spent meeting family after family and getting details. They'd each taken a list and were working seperate from each other to try to finish them as fast as possible. Some people used this chance to make additions to the gravestone such as adding a plaque or getting a better grade of stone, but eventually they were sent on their way.

Dupree didn't really mind the fact that people were seeking reparations, but he was annoyed at the fact they didn't even bother asking who'd done it. They had no intention of seeking any kind of justice for the dead who had been so utterly disrespected. Dupree planned to take it into his own hands and his sister agreed wholeheartedly to watch over the graveyard for the night. When he finally finished with yet another family trying to get every penny they could out of the gravedigger, Dupree got up and escorted them out of the office and looked down at the list.

"Would the Gannon family please come into the office?" he called out loudly while looking around. He noticed the only person to get up was a blonde haired boy and let him inside before closing the door and taking a seat behind his desk. "First, I'm sorry about having to call you in over such a matter. I need to know what your relation is to the deceased. Once I know that you can choose from a wide selection of gravestones to replace The one you've lost.. You don't have to worry about costs, we'll take care of that." Dupree said almost mechanically. He wanted these interviews to be over so he could start looking for the twins already.

Trace was officially Not In A Good Mood.

First off, he'd been called by his uncle early in the morning. That was normally a good thing, getting a surprise call. Trace loved his uncle to death. But 7 a.m. calls were definitely not the norm, and Trace could definitely smell trouble brewing before he even picked up the phone to answer. And he was right in every sense of it. It looked like someone had snuck into the cemetery the night before and damaged some of the property. Including several graves. And Luce's had been one of them.

Trace had continued the rest of the conversation in a detached stupor, which his uncle recognized immediately. He apologized profusely and said he'd save him the trouble of calling the rents and having to explain, for which Trace would've been thankful under normal circumstances. Granted, these were not normal circumstances, and he gave a grunt of understanding instead of a proper 'thank you'. Regardless, his uncle apologized again and told him not to let it get to him.

Trace said he'd take care of it before hanging up. He intended to make good on that promise.

Getting chewed out on the way to the cemetery by his parents was not his idea of a fun time either. Naturally, they blamed him for not calling them first, and instead having his uncle do the dirty work for him. Trace, usually given to calmly trying to explain things, had enough of their shit and promptly told them that they could sit on their asses and yell at him for something that wasn't his fault, but he had important things to do--like getting this issue dealt with, because, unfortunately for him, he didn't quite have the luxury of lazing around all day and finding reasons to blame people who were not responsible for anything in the slightest. That shut them up quite nicely.

He'd had ample time to see the extent of the damage by the time the call had gone up for his family to enter the office. He entered alone, listening to the drone of the guy in charge as he gave him the same speech about being sorry, and how they would get the problem solved, and blah blah blah. Ordinarily he'd be appreciative of, at least, the attempt to try and sympathize with his position, but his mood was still quite sour.

"Tracy Gannon," he said, equally as monotone. "Brother of the deceased."

And before the other guy could check if that matched the paperwork and bring out the catalogue, he added: "And before we get to the replacement, I need you to tell me exactly who is responsible and where I need to go to find them."

Shade was certainly agitated enough for her control to have slipped a little so that every shadow she passed, each one within her fifty foot range, started to shift and dance unnaturally. It hadn't really been noticed on the Metro, not considering how quickly the train moved and the poor lighting within anyway, but when she was on the street again, it was more evident. Her own shadow had vanished, pulled in close under her feet and wisping up like smoke at her heels.

She had no idea who had done it, but she fully intended to find out and if that required sitting on GD, she damn well would. But it wouldn't come to that. He had to be just as angry as she was, if not more so, and she was fairly certain he wouldn't object to a partner to go hunting with.

Her eyes flickered over the cemetary as she walked up to the building she had been given the address of. There was so much damage and it just pissed her off even more. And if the amount of destruction and how it looked was any indication, then there had either been a lot of people involved, or they were harbingers.

Once inside, she glanced around then shrugged and took a seat, closing her eyes and using the time while she waited to try and get her mutation more under control.

Post by Dupree Sun Jun 02, 2013 8:28 pm

Dupree's eyes flicked up quickly to Trace and he raised an eyebrow. Someone was finally willing to take actions into their own hands huh? It didn't make him necessarily glad to hear, but it was better than him trying to squeeze money out of him. Still he had a job to do.

He checked the paper work without answering the young man's question willing to risk the chance of him getting louder. It's not like other people weren't outraged at the destruction. He found what he was looking for and saw that the young man was marked as a harbinger. That was good. At least he had a good chance at fighting the twins and wasn't just marching off to his death.

Dupree set down the papers in front of Trace. "I understand you're upset. Your sister must've been very dear to you, but I still have a job to do. Fill out the paperwork so the other people out there don't have to wait." He gave Trace a pen and lowered his voice. "The people I saw were harbingers. Two of them and if they're looks were anything to go by they were twins."

Dupree stopped there knowing Trace was going to want more information, specifically how to find them and what their power was so he could look it up on his own, but Dupree wasn't going to tell him yet. Dupree wanted to make them pay for doing what they did and he knew that if Trace was told anything more he might go ahead without Dupree and either get himself hurt/killed or kill the twins before Dupree had a chance with them. "If you're eager to get your revenge, come back here when the office closes. I'll be more than willing to help you get it."

The look on Trace's face told him he wasn't pleased with Dupree, but seeing how Dupree was the only one with specific information on the two Trace was going to have wait. Once Trace was done with the paperwork Dupree let the young man go and looked out into the reception room and saw Shade sitting there with her with her power still moving the shadows in the room.

"Will the Rinaldi family please come to the office."

Shade raised her head when she heard her name and he let her inside the office and closed the door. "I'm sorry about your parent's graves. I will give them the best we can afford.

(Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins Empty Re: (Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins

Post by Trace Sun Jun 02, 2013 9:19 pm

The guy didn't answer his question and instead went about getting the papers he'd need to sign. He once again voiced an apology as he set them down in front of Trace. But then his voice dropped to a whisper as he handed the pen to Trace, and the boy got to hear exactly what he wanted -- or part of it anyway. Two harbingers, by the look of things outside. Two harbingers who happened to be twins.

It fit the description of the two he'd seen on the Bounty list that morning--Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber, was it?

Of course, the man told him no more, which was not a surprise. Hastiness could cost him seriously. If he didn't have self control, he could just fly off and take them down -- at the cost of some injury or death, if he was going alone. No, he'd have to play it cool and make the most rational decision. Better to tag-team the twins than go on his own and have to deal with the shame and disappointment of failing to give them what they deserve. He'd go along with it, pretending to be unaware. Honestly, it was less hassle that way.

Trace nodded at the man's suggesting, quickly filling out all the required paperwork, his mind elsewhere. But he didn't like the fact that he'd have to return after the place was closed. Who knows what other trouble those two could be causing while he waited at home, pacing on the spot. It couldn't be helped though. He wasn't the only victim here. There were plenty of other people to consider, people who wouldn't know about who caused the damage, and who needed to go about this grim business as fast as possible so they could feel better about themselves and the tombstones when they were repaired.

Trace, double checking that he filled out everything correctly, nodded once at the man and made his way out.

Waiting a little while was actually a good idea. It'd let him calm down some, for one, and he had a little detour to make first. If he was going to do this, he wouldn't do it half-assed. As such, he was going to need to do a little bit of preparation to make sure he was well-supplied when the time came to show the two what happened when you disturb the peace of deceased loved ones.

Post by Shade Sun Jun 02, 2013 9:30 pm

Shade was surprised to see Trace leave, but he was clearly preoccupied with something so she didn't call out to him and instead followed Dupree back into the office.

Waving off what he said, she spoke, sinking into the chair and keeping a corner of her mind on restraining her power. "It's fine, it isn't your fault. Just, what they had before is fine. And don't worry about the cost, I'll pay for it. You're already paying for all the rest, I'm sure." She sighed softly, hunching her shoulders in a bit. "What I want to know is if you know who did it and if you're going after them. If so, I want to know and I'll work with you." She tilted her head to the left a bit. "So, what information can you tell me, GD?" Sure, she knew his surname - she had done her research after all - but she was going to be polite and not use it. If he had wanted to be known by it, that's what he would have told her.

Huffing softly, she shifted to slap at one of the moving shadows, forcing it and the rest back into quiescence. "And I'm sorry about the shadows. I'm working on it."

(Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins Empty Re: (Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins

Post by Dupree Mon Jun 03, 2013 3:44 pm

Dupree nodded at the beginning and just filled out the paperwork for her. He wanted to deny the money from her, but the other people were trying to squeeze every penny out of the gravedigger and his sister and he wasn't sure if the insurance could even hope to cover what the people expected out of them now.

Again he raised his eyes from the paperwork at the mention of finding the vandals. A smirk came onto his face when Shade asked if he was going after them. She guessed correctly. "Yes I will be going after the ones that did this. You're actually the second one to ask about the ones who caused this damage. The other was the young man before you. Trace was his name. As for the information I know that they are harbinger twins. If you plan to go with me you'll have to wait until we close the office and we can't do that until we handle the rest of these people." he put the files on a pile with a little more force then was necessary.

He saw Shade slap at the shadows and shook his head. "There's no need to apologize. I'm sure that if my birds were out they'd be circling above and hunting for the ones responsible and cawing loud enough for the district to hear. " he said with a faked smile. "If you plan on waiting for me , I should let you know that the young man will also be coming with us. For now , however, I have to attend to the next family."

He got up and let Shade out of the room and gave her a quick goodbye before calling in the next family. After several tedious hours of this the office finally came to a close. Once the families were gone Dupree and his sister, Lutece, immediately locked up the offices and went to a back room in the building. It was a place where they would practice their magic rituals.

Dupree immediately sat down in the center of a circle cast earlier and they began a ritual meant to empower him for the fight. A few runes were painted on his back. White for protection, red for power and war, and finally his face was painted entirely black and white in a skull design. His shovel was blessed in salts and oils to prepare for the fight. He wore his heavy cloak with a deep hood up to hide his face from everyone, as it was meant to be an omen of seeing the face of death. He took some lantern oil and a few matches (no lantern), his shovel on his back, and his Athame (sacred knife) before moving to leave.

"Dupree...remember. You're an omen of death. Don't let them live." Lutece said with a steely coldness in her voice.

"Don't worry. I don't plan on it." Dupree replied back just as coldly. This was the first time he'd actually prepared for a fight and he was furious enough to do this kind of thing. The muscular man stepped outside of the building and saw both Shade and Trace waiting for him."We're heading to the West district." His sister had already looked up information on the whereabouts of the twins and from the last time she checked, which was shortly before the ritual, they were holed up in a small hotel. Dupree walked a little ways down the block to a garage and opened the it, before getting inside the hearse parked inside and starting it. No need for public transportation when he was going to be bringing back bodies to bury. "Let's go."

(Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins Empty Re: (Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins

Post by Trace Wed Jun 05, 2013 11:01 pm

Trace had a little shopping to do before the bounty. Nothing too special or too extravagant. Just a large pack of water. It didn't seem like much (unless you were going by weight), but it was his best weapon. The only misgiving he had about his power was that he had to draw it from a liquid source around him. Things would be much easier if he could just draw moisture from the air, or plants around him. Or, if he thought about it, lowering the limitations of his power didn't seem to bad either. It would be cool to be able to cause all sorts of pipes to burst without so much as a second thought. But that wasn't the way physics worked. Bursting pressures were generally thousands of PSI higher than he was able to go, even at his max. Especially for those tiny pipes. Those were the worst. And to think they looked so thin and flimsy compared to the foot-wide ones.

He quickly discarded the packaging and put the bottles in his pack, securing it tightly using his power. That was the useful thing about the gear he had. Straight from his uncle. That guy worked wonders. Just about anything you could think of within reason was possible, but then Trace guessed that's what happened when you were founder and CEO of SynapTech. You could pretty much do as you please and nurse as many pet projects as you wanted. That's where he got most of his gear from--they worked sort of like waterbeds, only he could tighten and loosen things by alternating the pressure of the water inside. Really useful when he wanted to fit something in his bag without using his hands to opening it, or holstering his staff without having to reach around and try and tighten it.

The walk was back to his place was definitely a pain in the butt with the extra weight, but he made sure that the bottles were hugged as closely to his back as possible to better and more efficiently distribute the weight he had to carry. It would definitely be worth it, though. He had a few surprises in store for those two harbingers.

But if he'd thought the walk back to his place was bad, getting all the way back to the cemetery was hell. He made it though, because a few bottles of water was a really damn stupid reason not to give those two who screwed with so many loved ones' graves a piece of his mind.

To his surprise, Shade was waiting outside the designated meeting location too, but before he could approach her, the man from before emerged from the building and led them over to his hearse stationed in the garage a little ways down the block. There was something a lot different in the way he was carrying himself now. Trace decided that he could catch up with Shade on the way there. This guy looked like he meant business, and Trace wasn't going to be the one to slow him down.

He was rather relieved, though, to be able to put down his pack. The walk to wherever it was they were going would probably kill him, regardless of which district it was in. He studied the man in the driver's seat. He seemed so different now; a lot more... imperious? He certainly wasn't this intimidating when he'd gone to see him about the damage to Lucy's grave marker. Maybe that was just him acting out of detached professionality?

Whatever it was, Trace was glad he was on his side rather than theirs.

Post by Shade Thu Jun 06, 2013 2:44 pm

Since she had a couple of hours to kill and no need for preparation, Shade got herself something to eat before going to see just how badly her parents' stones had been damaged. It was also as good a place as any to reign in her mutation - something that was much easier to do now that she knew that action would be taken and that she would have direction for it.

The sun was starting to set when she made her way back to the office, arriving just a few minutes before Trace did. Once they were in the car, Shade gave a quick, terse smile of greeting to Trace before glancing at Dupree. "Why is your face painted like that?" When he had finished explaining that, she nodded slowly and turned to Trace. "How have you been? Still working for Fye?"

And when the pleasantries were out of the way, she looked between the two and asked, "What information do we have, what resources have we brought, and do either of you have even a tentative plan that isn't just beating the hell out of them or worse?"

(Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins Empty Re: (Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins

Post by Dupree Thu Jun 06, 2013 5:51 pm

Dupree stiffened slightly behind the wheel when Shade asked about his face paint. He didn't want her or Trace to really see that. "It's an death omen." he said calmly, taking a quick glance to his side to look at her.

Dupree gave Trace a chance to answer Shade and briefly wondered what their relationship was was before she asked about information. "My sister looked some information about them and called in a few favors and someone we know saw them. They are in the West district in and hotel called Gemini. She should be waiting there to tell us which room, but that's it. The ones that attack the graveyard are harbinger twins that can just...throw themselves at things, from what I've seen, and they don't seem to be hurt by it. They tend to curl up when they do that, but they always touch before they do it. As for what I brought there is my shovel, athame, and oils with matches." he didn't bother mentioning the spells he'd been blessed with because he didn't want to chance them annoying him.

While he was good at hiding his emotions for the most part, his crows acted on them. So if he was annoyed with them while he was in the fury he was in, his crows would probably attack them.

"The plan is to drive them out of the hotel so innocents don't get hurt. Then we follow them with the help of my crows then trap them and kill them."

Traffic wasn't too bad on the way over, but that didn't change the fact that some people stared at the hooded driver as they passed on the opposite side of the street. Of course that normally happened when someone drove by in a hearse.

It took them about fifteen to twenty minutes to get to their destination. Dupree parked a block away from the hotel and told Shade and Trace to wait in the car for a little bit. He stepped out and walked to a woman who was sitting alone on a bench and sat next to her. "Blessed be."

The woman repeated the greeting to him with a small bow of her head and handed him a piece of paper and wished him luck before getting up and walking away. Dupree normally didn't call on his coven members for favors, but he was glad that they'd been willing to help with this. The coven had been a part of his life since he was a teenager, when he was allowed to join and he'd taken his father's place as Head Priest and in this moment he was glad he had.

He returned to the car while reading the small note. Room 214 He showed the note to Shade and Trace and grabbed his things. "Let's go."

Trace watched the man's face, nodding.

Well, that's probably why he looks a lot more intimidating--it's the paint on his face.

Then he turned to Shade and gave her a small smile. He'd think it was good to see her again if not for the terrible circumstances that decided to throw them together, leading them to the West District by hearse and--then what? Were they going to lure them out of their hiding place? Make them pay with violence? Were they going to kill them? Trace couldn't say. All he knew was that it was too late to turn back now and that they were very much deserving of some just desserts.

"I've been alright, Shade. And yep! Things haven't really changed all that much."

He asked how things had been going for her and then nodded in response before she segued into bounty talk.

He really had no idea about what to do, but it seemed that their partner--teammate?--had a lot, on the other hand. Trace had already learned some of it beforehand, but their place of current residence was definitely some new and extremely pertinent info. Also interesting were the materials the man had brought with him. A shovel, oil with matches, and strangest of all, an athame. Trace wondered absently if he was into Wicca or something, which would explain the oils that went along with the matches. He had other things to focus on, though, so he cast away those thoughts and pondered the current situation instead.

He heard the man's plan and a shudder ran down his spine.

"Well," he said, "I've brought the usual--my staff--and about a dozen or so bottles of water."

He waited to hear what, if anything Shade had brought before conversation turned towards a more detailed plan of what they'd do. If they were in their room, there was no way they'd be able to flush them out easily while maintaining the safety of the others in the hotel. Not unless they lured them out unsuspecting or something. They'd have to come up with a unified, strong plan if they wanted this to work, not just attempts to bash them into the ground. That could always come later, when they had gotten them where they wanted them.

After stopping the hearse, the man left for a little while, giving him a little more time to come up with any last-minute ideas. He returned with the room number, and Trace looked at it, nodding before opening his door to get out. The time for thinking was slowly drawing to a close.

Post by Shade Sat Jun 08, 2013 3:52 pm

She shrugged a bit when Trace asked how things had been with her. "Started dating someone; almost got killed by another bounty, broken arms suck if you didn't know that. Oh, and that was the one that kind of trashed the bakery." She had no idea if Fye had told him what had happened, but the broken doors and windows and messed up interior were kind of hard to hide, even with that one guy's power. "Um... Found out that my uncle died, inherited from him and the trust my parents set up, made one of my friends move into the house he had owned, broke up with my boyfriend because I walked in on him having sex with someone else, and made a few other friends." She shrugged again, brushing off her verbal bullet point list.

When it was her turn to volunteer what she had brought, she shook her head. "Just my weapon and some minor first aid stuff. Nothing more than I normally carry," she said, lifting her left wrist a bit and letting the metal weights on her bracelet clink together. "My power's normally enough so I didn't think to get anything else. And I can probably use it to help drive them out of the room. At the very least, I can limit their options for escape if I'm in range." Hopefully anyway. It depended on just how hard they hit.

Shade turned to Trace when Dupree had left the car to do whatever it was he was doing, not happy about it but willing to extend some trust over it. "Trace... Have you ever had to kill someone? Or, I should say, have you ever been in the position to need to?"

She slipped out of the car after Trace and glanced at the building. Now if only they knew what the bigger problem would be, going after the twins or working together with their clearly differing levels of experience.

(Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins Empty Re: (Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins

Post by Dupree Mon Jun 10, 2013 10:25 pm

Dupree had wondered briefly on how to get the harbinger twins out of their room without drawing too much attention. Set a fire with his oil could get innocents hurt, and there was no way he'd be let into the building with the way he was dressed and especially his face. He definitely didn't also want to spread the omen that was meant for the twins. The fact Shade had seen it was bad enough. Something bad was bound to happen to her because of it, but Dupree would do something to rid her of the hex after the fight. First he wanted the twins to pay for their crime.

Dupree walked into an alleyway by the hotel and took a pinch of feathers and created a crow. The crow Dupree told the bird to look around for two of the same people in the same room on the second floor. It flew around for a little while before cawing angrily.

"Found them." Dupree said with a dark smirk. He grabbed a handful of feathers and tossed them up into the air forming a few more crows that cawed angrily before they began attacking the window with their bodies. One of the twins immediately rushed to window when the birds were preparing to attack again and she saw Dupree and the two other harbingers looking back at her.

Dupree just pushed back his hood to let her see his face and pointed at the swarm of crows about to smash into the window. She visible jumped in shock and when the birds collided with the window it shattered and he could hear her sudden shriek of panic. "What're yo- Holy shit!" he heard, presumably the other twin, say as she saw her sister. "Someone found us! Ah! let's get the fuck out of here!" the first one yelled as the birds scratched and pecked at her.

The twins fought their way to the door and Dupree called back his birds. If they went inside the hotel they would probably go out of his range and that wouldn't be a good thing. It was good enough the twins were leaving the hotel. Dupree pulled his hood back up and began walking back to the hearse while his birds took to the sky."Come on. We're going to follow them.".

Dupree had done this several times before, though it was only in the space of the graveyard, but the concept was the same. Scare the person out of hiding, let the birds track them and then trap them in their next hiding spot. The fear and running would often exhaust the person he was chasing and he could take care of them easily. This plan was no different.

The twins made their escape on a motorcycle and with the directions from the birds the small group of harbingers were able to follow them to a second hideout. This time it was a run down factory. Dupree parked the hearse in the shadows where it would barely be noticeable if you didn't know it was there and stepped out, swallowing all crows he'd made before in rapid succession. "They're probably are panicked now so they'll be a bit more dangerous, but we've got the element of surprise. Let's not waste it."

Trace barely had time to tell Shade that, no, he hadn't exactly ever been put in a position where he needed to kill anyone before things started rolling. He felt bad about asking Shade how things had been with her in retrospect, what with the whole breaking up with boyfriend because she caught him sleeping with someone else bit. He'd have to apologize/ask her if she was okay after everything cooled down.

He followed the harbinger into the narrow alleyway, watching intently. It seemed that he was going to go ahead with his own plan to get the twins out of their nest. Trace wasn't sure whether he was going to wall jump up to the second floor window and sneak in, or perhaps just climb his way up Spider-Man style. He wasn't, however, expecting the guy to pull out some feathers and magic some birds--crows?--into existence after lobbing them in the air. He had to give him some creativity points for that for sure.

Neither was he expecting the whole cawing angrily or window shattering. In his head he pictured the confrontation to be a complete surprise on the twins part as a result of some clandestine sneaking action. This was a lot less... covert and discreet, but ultimately effective once the birds managed to get a hold of one of the sisters and they decided it would be better then to jet.

Trace followed quickly after the harbinger at his call, and the next thing he knew they were following after the twins--using the spectacular aerial view the birds probably had. That ride was particularly less chatty and a lot more tense than the previous. It also seemed to pass by a lot faster, because one moment they'd hopped into the hearse and the next their harbinger ally was parking it in the shadows and they were climbing out. Trace swallowed, his throat a little dry from the lack of chatter on the ride there and because of the gravity of the situation about to unfold as well. It was finally time.

He watched in utter shock as the man before him swallowed all the crows he'd summoned--some kind of unusual restitution, it seemed--before reaching back and drawing his staff in one hand and pulling out a bottle of water in another. He wasn't at his very best fighting one-handed with his staff, but he could still hold his own. Besides, it was worth the slight disadvantage if only for the fact that in his right hand he held his strongest weapon. That'd make up for a one hand handicap. And though technically he could wield his 'ultimate weapon' without wasting one of his hands, he was saving all of his strength for the actual fight. He'd need all the power he could get his hands on.

(Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins Empty Re: (Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins

Post by Shade Wed Jun 12, 2013 12:46 am

Shade nodded to Dupree, unfazed by his restitution. "I know this building. There's another door that's open around the other side. I'll go in that way." She paused to look at Trace. "Are you going to be okay?" While it was clear that this was a new mindset and intended outcome for Trace, it was just as clear that both Shade and Dupree had done similar before. After the blond answered, Shade nodded then gestured at the man with them. "Stick with him."

She turned and started away, using the shadows to hide herself as she walked. Reaching one of the ways into the storm drains, she dropped down then jogged back to where the hidden entrance to the building was, climbing up the ladder and letting herself in. Creeping along and keeping her power up, she found a good spot to keep an eye on the open spaces as well as the twins, settling in to wait for Dupree's signal. Of course, that probably should have been clarified first, but it was likely that his crows would show up and that would be what she was waiting on.

(Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins Empty Re: (Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins

Post by Dupree Thu Jun 13, 2013 10:44 pm

Dupree raised an eyebrow in curiosity as Shade claimed she knew the building. She'd obviously been doing something shady to know a building like this one. On the other hand she pretty much told Dupree that Trace had no experience in what they were doing when she asked if he was going to be ok.

He did feel a small amount of pride when she told Trace to stick with him, but that was quickly removed from Dupree's feelings. Right now he needed to focus on handling the twins. Shade disappeared into the shadows as she separated from the two males and they walked towards the front entrance, but tried to stay as hidden as possible.

Dupree removed his hood again and grabbed a few feathers from inside his cloak again and willed his bird into existence. It formed and listened to his mental order to keep quiet. He didn't know if Shade was waiting for them or if they were waiting for Shade, but he didn't take long waiting to get a view. Instead of letting the sound his bird's wings flapping alert the twins he ordered the bird to hop inside.

He summoned a few more birds and they did the same moving to different parts of the room as quietly as they could. Once they were all in place Dupree looked at Trace. "You're going to sneak inside now. I'm too big to sneak in, but my birds help with keeping them distracted for you."

Dupree ordered his bird to find something they could knock down and a couple seconds later he heard the sound of glass breaking against the ground. "What the hell was that!? he heard one of the twins shout. Dupree used this distraction to send Trace inside and hide behind some old boxes quickly.

Once Dupree was satisfied that they didn't suspect Trace being there, he did what came natural to him. Theatrics. He opened the door with a slam and drew the twin's attention to him. The twins still looked shocked, but now they had a target and some of the shock turned into anger. "Who the hell are you supposed to be? Some kind of Batman wannabe?" one of them shouted at him.

Dupree walked forward without a word and pulled out his shovel and the twins stiffened up. "Oh shit...it's the guy from the graveyard. 'Gravedigger' right? What, have you come to haunt us? You're just...some guy right!? You're just some kind of sick freak!" the other screamed, trying to convince herself what she was saying was the truth. "Calm down Dee. Of course it's just some guy. There's no way he's a ghost. Just another harbinger like us."

Dupree still just continued walking until he was about ten feet from them. The twins were already standing close enough to touch hands if they wanted, but they both seemed nervous and Dupree smirked before pointing at them. "...Hunt."

With that one word the crows hidden throughout the room flew from the darkness and began attacking. The twins tried to grab at each other but Dupree's crows began pulling them apart by their hair and Dupree charged forward into Dum with his shoulder putting some distance between the two of them. With that the fight started.

It was really sweet that Shade asked him if he was going to be okay. He smiled a little and nodded. "Yeah, I've got this." He could take care of himself. He'd never gone on a real bounty before--the last and only one he'd done was a less personal mission. Though he and his 'partner' failed to capture the guy they were looking for, he ended up getting what he was after all along. This time would be a lot different.

He stuck close to his other teammate, watching as the birds he created hopped their way in. He felt his whole body tensing as he nodded in comprehension of the man's instructions, waiting for the moment to arrive. Then he heard it--that fateful crash that sent his heart racing--and he sprinted toward his destination on the balls of his feet, slowing down as he approached and timing his dive roll behind the pile of old, dusty boxes to make sure he wouldn't be seen.

From there he heard all the theatrics taking place, smiling grimly to himself. Taking a peek from behind the pile, he decided to maintain the element of surprise for just a bit longer. The man managed to separate the two and was keeping one busy. He'd try to sneak up on the second while keeping out of his ally's way.

Shade couldn't help but shake her head a bit at the theatrics actually. She really wasn't one for them and didn't see the point now, especially since they had come here with the intent to kill the twins. It was like one of those cartoons where the cat had caught the mouse and decided to play with it instead of eat it. And in the end, the mouse always got away.

Shaking her head again, she broke cover so that she could get close enough to throw up some shadows into a wall to protect Dupree's back. Had he forgotten that they needed to touch after using their power and not before? Well, it didn't matter much now, she thought, gritting her teeth as the one bounced off her shadows.

Hopefully Trace was keeping an eye out for when he could jump in and, if they were lucky, knock one of the twins out because they packed quite the punch and Shade knew she couldn't keep blocking either for long, much less both if the one got passed Dupree. For now, she'd just stick with diverting and making Dee move in circles.

(Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins Empty Re: (Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins

Post by Dupree Fri Jun 21, 2013 4:35 pm

Dupree was physically stronger than Dum and it was pretty obvious to anyone who looked, but the woman was faster than him. Dupree's shovel wasn't really meant to be a weapon in the first place. There was too much weight at the shovel end to swing it properly, but Dupree's strength made sure that if a swing ever connected it would hurt like hell. On the other hand Dum simply didn't have the physical strength to hurt Dupree, and the lack of weapons didn't help her even though she could dodge Dupree's attacks.

Dupree called his birds and they began harassing her again by pulling her hair and scratching at her eyes. The few seconds she spent trying to bat the birds away allowed Dupree to swing his Shovel with all the force he could muster. The birds just managed to get out of the way when his shovel smacked Dum across her face knocking her back a few feet and onto the floor.

Dupree had done that a few times before, and the whatever poor soul he'd done that too never got up again. Most likely her skull was dented and cracked all the way through. Dupree turned to the wall that was erected behind him and wondered briefly what to do to get through it when he heard the sound of footsteps behind him. He turned expecting to see Shade or Trace. Instead he saw Dum standing looking at him angrily.

He froze in place surprised how the woman wasn't dead and that ended up costing him. The woman wasn't just standing. She'd been charging and faster then he could move she was hurtling through the air at him.

Out of instinct he brought up his shovel to try to block, but the woman easily broke through the weapon and crashed harshly against him pinning him against fabricated wall and cracking multiple ribs. Dupree fell to the ground painfully and spat up blood and everything went blurry from the concussion he got. Well this wasn't he'd planned for at all.

(Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins Empty Re: (Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins

Post by Trace Sun Jun 23, 2013 12:48 am

Trace skirted around piles of boxes and goods long since forgotten, trying to circle around Dee, which was slow work given her movement patterns. Across the room he could see their ally and his crows fighting Dum, at least until Dee took the opportunity to fling herself at his back. Luckily Shade threw up some sort of shadow wall between them and Dee bounced off. He lost the opportunity to strike that was presenting itself, but at least their ally was safe.

He decided to stay where he was, watching Shade and Dee square off, which was a funny term in and of itself, given that they were circling each other. The plan was simple. He'd listen to the sounds of Dum and their ally fighting on the other side of the wall while waiting for Dee to end up with her back to him so he could jump out and strike, hopefully knocking her out before she could get a chance to fight back, or even realize he was there.

It only took a few seconds for him to hear it--the sound of something very hard and heavy striking something else--and what he presumed to be the body of Dum falling to the floor. With that he peeked out from his little hiding spot and turned his full attention back on Dee, hoping for just a minute or two more before he could get the best shot at her.

That's when he heard the sound of Dum striking the wall, something snapping, and a noticeably heavier body than before hitting the floor. Though Dee wasn't precisely in front of him, she turned her head towards the sound of the noise just long enough for Trace to jump out from behind the boxes. He threw his water bottle up in the air, aiming to take her down in one shot, and extended his staff to full length. A two-handed, full power shot to the medulla would guarantee a knock-out at the very least, but all he needed was contact between the base of the skull and the first vertebrae.

The wide-arced swing struck true, sending the girl hurtling forward and to the ground like a rag doll.

It was only then that Trace considered the inability of their ally's shovel to down the other one.

Post by Shade Sat Jul 06, 2013 7:28 pm

It was aggravating the way that Dee kept throwing herself at the wall Shade had created, even with the way the brunette was trying to herd her elsewhere. While it was a good thing that having the same spot be struck over and over wasn't actually weakening the wall, it was affecting the harbinger who created it. A dull pounding was starting to take residence behind her eyes and it was reminding her of when she was out in the sun too long. She just hoped that it didn't get to the point that she felt like she was going to pass out.

The thuds and crack from the far side of her wall distracted Shade and she turned to look. She had just remembered Dee and was spinning back, cursing herself under her breath, when Trace landed his attack. Seeing that this twin was momentarily taken care of, Shade dropped her wall and threw the shadows over Dupree in a protective dome that spoiled Dum's attack and sent her careening off to the side. It also served to redirect that twin's ire toward the younger girl and Shade was forced to drop the dome over Dupree so that she could concentrate more fully on defending herself, backing away from everyone so that she could use attacks that would require less concentration.

(Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins Empty Re: (Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins

Post by Dupree Mon Jul 15, 2013 6:43 pm

Dupree's chest ached in dull pain as his vision faded in and out. He saw Dum fading in and out of focus taking a few steps back before flinging herself at him again when everything suddenly went dark. Dupree wondered briefly if he'd gone unconscious when he heard the dull sound of something hitting the floor. He vision started to clear and everything started to come back into focus and the pain in his chest began to hurt a lot more.

Dupree tried lifting himself off the ground and pain pulsated in his chest. he gasped at the feeling, but forced his arms to hold him up. He had the weight of the vengeful dead on his shoulders and he wasn't allowed to rest until they'd gotten their justice. He reached out for his shovel, but when he grabbed it it felt light. He looked at handle and saw it was splintered at one side and it broke his heart.

The shovel was an heirloom of his family's and to see it shattered in two made Dupree's blood boil. He stood on his knees and grabbed the bottles of oil and a fist-full of feathers. He summoned a pair of crows and gave each one a small bottle and sent them off. Dum crashed into someone and sent them flying and crashing through what looked like a small office wall and landed turning towards the third member of the group.

Dupree cursed under his breath when he saw the blonde hair still standing, now knowing Shade was the one who had went flying. He heard the crash of the bottles and smiled as the birds came back from Dee's unconscious body which now was covered in glass shards and oil. Dupree smirked darkly as he lit a match and looked back to Dum who looked at him in horror as she put the pieces together. "Say goodbye to your sister." Dupree said coldly as he painfully threw the set of burning matches and ignited a small trail of oil leading to the unconscious twin. If he was lucky she'd go to save her sister and get caught in the flame, provided the flame got there before she could save her. Trace would have to take care of that. Dupree had just spent pretty much all of his energy doing that and he was now on the floor laying painfully on his injured chest.

Trace hovered behind the floored woman, staff pointing downwards and almost completely vertical for easy access to the base of her skull and back of the neck if need be. While striking someone with a shovel could be quite deadly, a well-aimed strike from an adept bō-user could reach 2000 psi of force and even greater. Of course, he didn't have the necessary windup time to reach anything quite so high, but by all means he should have cracked or shattered something. But at least she was unconscious and the odds were looking to be 2:1 at the moment.

That's when he tore his eyes away from the figure on the ground before him to see Dum fling herself at Shade, smashing her right through the wall behind her. He gaped, sincerely praying that she'd had the time to throw up something before that impact. Judging from Dupree's injuries Shade's much smaller frame would do her no favors if she took a direct hit.

There was the unmistakable sound of cawing to his right, but he couldn't tear his eyes off the office space that he could now see through the enormous hole in the wall Dum had created. He didn't fail to notice, however, the crows flying into his line of sight and dropping vials of some sort of liquid onto her prone body. Or Dum stepping through the rubble across the room, very much alone. He set his jaw and reached into his pack, withdrawing two bottles of water as he watched her face contort in horror and realization. And as the glow of the thrown match entered his direct line of sight, he gave the bottles a shake and let them fly, one by one.

Boom, he thought.

'Oh shit oh shit oh shit! She's faster than I thought!'

That was the general course of Shade's thoughts as she backpedaled, throwing up her power in short walls to try and keep the attacks from striking her. The one twin was angry at her and that was fueling her movements and it was all Shade could do to keep away. She knew it was only going to take one mistake and then she was really going to be in trouble. The question was if Dum's restitution was going to kick in before said mistake occurred or not.

The answer to that was found out shortly when Shade slipped on a bit of trash on the floor. Dum threw herself at the younger girl and they both went through a wall; something that Shade was partially prepared for. She was ready for the tackle, having set her power close to her body to diminish the force, but not hitting the wall behind her.

It took a little while for the ringing in her ears to die down, long enough that she wasn't sure if the dull thump she heard was from the larger area or just the blood pounding in her head. Groaning softly, she shifted the bits of wood and drywall off of herself and got to her feet. She took stock of herself real quick, feeling a quick flash of satisfaction that she had managed to minimize the attack to just some bruises, then hurried through the hole again, looking around to see where everyone was and what had happened in the time she had been dazed.

(Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins Empty Re: (Dupree, Trace, and Shade) [Bounty] Hunt for the Tweedle Twins

Post by Dupree Tue Oct 08, 2013 6:33 pm

Dum immediately jumped into action after seeing her sister in peril of being burned alive. She flung herself right past Trace, not even bothering to look at him, as she rushed to her sister. She barely dodged the exploding water bottles and, sadly for Dupree, she made it to her sister and immediately grabbed her and pulled her away from the oncoming flame. She charged for a moment and then used her power to fling herself, and her sister, far enough that the flames would not catch them even with the additional area the flame had spread thanks to Trace's action.

Dupree cursed under his breath, but saw that Dum looked tired, probably from waiting so long to come in contact with her sister after using her power. All they had to do now was to catch her and then Dupree would handle the rest.

Dum knew she couldn't keep fighting, much less while protecting her sister, with how light her head felt. She looked at her surroundings for only a moment before she spotted what she needed to escape. A shelf with cans of turpentine, still heavy with their flammable contents. She didn't give it a second thought and immediately charge and knocked it over towards the fire Dupree had started and started running away.

The cans rolled or spilled onto the flame and immediately the fire spread and began to overtake the building. Dupree felt the intense heat of the flame and knew that if they weren't going to be able to catch them. The building began to groan as the fire ate at the weakened supports and Dupree knew he had to get out or he'd be dead. With the help of the few remaining crows he had out he got to his feet, grabbed the two halves of his broken shovel and began to run towards the exit they'd come in from. "We have to get out of here!" he shouted to his the two people he'd brought with him.
