Midnight Savior - Eleazer, Andrew Empty Midnight Savior - Eleazer, Andrew

A sharp cry echoed out from one of the many dark alleys scattered throughout the Southern district. It being midnight in addition to the area meant that the odds of someone being around to were next to nothing. Not that anyone would be all that likely to investigate in the first place.

Andrew grunted at the next kick. He wasn't going to cry out like that again. Hell, the only reason he had in the first place was because he hadn't expected to be thrown into the wall and tazed. His head was really hurting after how it had bounced off the bricks and he could feel a some blood trickling through his hair and he could just imagine how colorful his skin was already turning from the bruises in addition to the various other cuts and scrapes.

How the hell could he have possibly been so stupid? He never took calls for jobs at night. He damn well knew better, but here he was. He could have skipped it, he still had a good portion of the credits left over from that night the other week with the tea, but he knew how quickly those could vanish, especially if he fell ill so he had agreed to the job.

It was just his luck that it was a ruse set up by some members of a local group of harbinger haters and they had definitely been ready for almost any type of power, even though they knew his. He recognized one of them as being a friend of his little bitch of an older brother.

So, being the idiot that he is, Andrew had agreed to meet at an address that he didn't know was false and walked right into an ambush. Oh, he had managed to get away, but what he hadn't known was that they had barricaded the alley he had ducked into - herded into it like a lamb to the slaughter. And that's about how he felt right now.

They had been pushing him around and pounding on him for a couple of minutes - that's not to say that he hadn't gotten in his own hits, but when the fucking hand-held stun gun came out... Well, there wasn't much he could do against that. He had gone down, hard, and that was when they had really started hitting hard.

At this point, it was all he could do to protect his face and head, curled up as he was. He was just thankful they had kept to their hands and feet and no knives or anything had been pulled. Or, that was the case until he glanced up during a lull and saw that one, their little ringleader who he had knocked three teeth loose from early on, had grabbed a steel pipe.

Shit. This was going to hurt.

Andrew managed to twist as the pipe came down, catching it on his shoulder rather than along his spine or neck. As much as he didn't want to let it out, he couldn't hold back the yell of pain that time. His vision was starting to gray out and he could feel his body starting to shut down. It was only a matter of time until he passed out and when he did... There was no way they'd let him wake up.

Another grunt as a foot slammed against the same shoulder, shoving him to sprawl on his side. He tried to get up again, he really did, but his arms were shaking too much to hold his weight. Even if he kept hold of his consciousness, he wasn't going to be able to stand much less run.

There really wasn't any way around it. Andrew was going to die here in this dingy little alley and his body left to rot. And there was nothing he could do about it. Nothing except for watch the pipe lift into the air with his good eye, the other having swelled shut already.

He might be about to die, but he sure as hell wasn't going to give them the satisfaction of seeing him cower.

Midnight Savior - Eleazer, Andrew Empty Re: Midnight Savior - Eleazer, Andrew

Post by Eleazer Fri Sep 14, 2012 12:53 pm

The night was dark and full of terrors. Hadn't he heard that somewhere once, a long time before? Something about how the shadows held dangers.

Well, they certainly did in this city, for at the very least they happened to hold him.

Slowly releasing the knot that was his wire from around the dead man's neck, Eleazer stepped back, running his fingers down it, the leather pads on his fingertips protecting them from any injuries while he got the few stray flecks of blood off of it before he glanced down at the man. Purple faced and eyes wide, he looked like too professional of a killing. It needed to be bloodier.

Reaching into a pocket and pulling out one of his butterfly knives, Eleazer flipped it open, the blade spinning around his hand before he knelt, catching it and closing it, the metal handle cool even through the cotton that covered the bases of his fingers, and raised it to get to the work of making this look like a mugging murder, bloody and disgusting, when he heard something.

A hoarse, pained shout. The assassin froze, looking up from beneath his dark hair, one hand still on the dead man's now-cooling chest, the other raised. He paused. The shout did not come again—it had sounded vaguely familiar, like he'd heard that voice before. The silence fell again, except then there was shuffling. Footsteps.

Eleazer lowered his arm. He heard what had to be a metal pipe bouncing around, and then the crack of it hitting something. Another pained shout. This time he recognised it—that boy from the night, who he had given money to. Standing, Eleazer grabbed the arm of the dead man and tossed him off the edge of the roof into a pile of garbage bags below, turned on the roof, and started moving, feet silently pressing over and across concrete and tiles as he leapt alleyways, heading for the noises.

That second shout had sounded like a man breaking. He moved faster. Normally, Eleazer didn't get involved in this sort of thing....but there was something about that boy that had made him remember his own childhood. Some sort of need to protect him, like nobody had ever protected Eleazer. He was not maternal, but that didn't matter. Skidding to the edge of the roof, Eleazer looked down, came to a frozen stop at the edge of the roof.

Four men, and the boy from the other night currently sitting cowered on the ground in a ball. Covered in bruises, no doubt. Hardly moving. The man above him, the one with a pipe, was about to bring it back down. Eleazer made a quick calculation.

No killing. Not in a situation like this. Hate crimes were not to be met with more hate. He slid the knife back into his pocket, sliding it closed, and pulled out the thicker wire he carried—more like a thin rope than a wire—and looped one end around either hand, and jumped off of the roof.

Eleazer hit the ground the way someone who had plenty of practice did, hitting the ground with his weight carefully balanced before he rolled to absorb the impact, taking it more on his shoulder than the fragile bones of his legs, and sprang to his feet, moving like a silent shadow in white. He twisted, spinning, and looped the rope around the iron pipe, pulling it from the man's fist, spinning it in his own and keeping the opposite end of the wire wrapped around it, giving himself two weapons in one.

The four men turned. Eleazer did not twitch in his expression. He just stood very still, and then carefully raised his eyebrows.

Come at me, they said.

"Any last words, freak?" the one with the pipe asked, prompting mocking laughter from his friends.

Andrew coughed, spitting blood at the man. He really hoped that was from biting his tongue earlier and not internal bleeding, but it probably was. "Go to hell you son of a bitch," he rasped out, keeping his defiant glare. He might be a dead man still breathing, but it was inevitable. There wasn't any point in being afraid, not anymore.

The man snarled and swung down with enough force to either cave in Andrew's skull or break his neck outright. Where ever he hit, it'd be quick, that was a consolation. And then, the pipe was gone and the man was staggering forward with the momentum, stumbling over Andrew's legs.

Everything just stopped as everyone stared at the new man in their midst. Andrew managed to push himself up on an elbow as he had the absurd thought of wondering who the hell wore that much white when three of the men lunged at the new guy. And holy hell could he fight. But, why the hell had he decided to get involved?

The teen cried out more in surprise than anything else when a hand fisted in his hair and jerked his head back harshly, exposing his throat to the knife in the man's hand. He held very still, not willing to risk his throat being slit. A single blow was one thing, but bleeding out? He'd rather not.

"St-stop, or I'll k-kill him!" the man shouted, voice shaking.

A knife. Why did they always have knives. Eleazer froze as the man pressed the blade to the kid's neck, and slowly stilled his entire body, became as motionless as possible, hardly breathing.

"Drop the pipe," The man ordered, and Eleazer paused, half-frowned with his eyebrows, and then did so, the metal clanging on the street, before he raised his arms, lifted his hands, spread his fingers—the universal gesture that meant he was unarmed. He kept his feet square and loose, though. "Grab him," the ringleader said to the other men, and one hesitantly came forward and grabbed Eleazer's elbow.

He had an opening of maybe thirty seconds. If the man was fast enough and direct enough and managed to get the boy's jugular he would bleed out before they could ever get anywhere. No risking it. But if he wasn't able to concentrate well enough to make the cut (something he wasn't trained to do, not like Eleazer) he would, at best, be able to nick the skin. The jugular was a surprisingly hard vein to slice accurately.

When he felt the man's fingers clench around his bicep, that was when Eleazer moved. He pivoted one foot and ducked, using the man's momentum of trying to grab him to spin, flipping him over his back, and turning, tossing the man toward the one with the knife. He flew about four feet, and then got one foot on the ground, shouted in surprise before he crashed into the man with the knife.

And then Eleazer did several things in quick succession. First, he jerked his other foot up, tossed the pipe back into his hand, and spun in a flat circle with the pipe at chest level, hitting both of the other men as they dove for him and ended the spin facing the two men already tangled and jumped, hitting the one he had tossed hard in the back with the sole of his shoe, planting his entire weight in the man's back, on top of his steel-soled boot, knocking him even further forward with a shout into the other one, who dropped the knife.

Eleazer landed, tossed it up to his hand, caught it, and dropped it in a pocket. Cracked the thrown man across the back of the head—not hard enough to make him bleed, but enough that he would have a concussion for certain, be unconscious for a while at the least. Then, gripping the edge of his rope, he twisted it up around the man with the knife's neck, pulled it tight until the bar was across the top of his throat, and shoved the boy behind him, against the wall.

He pulled the wire tighter. Tight enough that he felt the man's breathing constrict, but not cut off. That the wire dug into his neck, his eyes wide as his hands clawed for it, but unable to get anything near a grip because of the pressure the pipe was exerting. He looked up at Eleazer, fear in his eyes—fear that changed to recognition when he saw what his irises looked like.

"Drop," Eleazer said by way of order to the men. They were guilty of no more crime than hate for no good reason, detestation of something as natural as they were. He would not kill them. He had no right. They had no right to die. The two still up looked between each other in confusion, and to harden his point, Eleazer tightened the rope.

The man he was holding made a broken noise and his fighting started to weaken even more as Eleazer cut off his oxygen supply completely. His fingers stopped clenching at his arms, and shuddered, slumped. His face started to change colour.

The men threw down their weapons fast, and then started running even as Eleazer jerked free the wire, the man he was holding choking, stumbling and hitting the ground, gasping and retching for breath, only for Eleazer to plant his foot squarely in his back, shove him to the ground, and grab him by the hair at the back of his head. He leaned down and pinned him to the pavement, put his mouth by his ear—

"Fortune may not favour you next time. Not all are as kind as me. Never harm a man like him again."

"I'm sorry," the man choked, shaking his head. Eleazer was certain he was, and would never do it again, before he let him slump back to the pavement with his unconscious friend, his other two thug-buddies long gone, and turned to the young man behind him. It had been a quick, hard fight, and he wasn't as young as he used to be. One or two men was one thing—four on one was another. He couldn't last as long as he used to, and his breath came quicker than it might have had when he was thirty, or twenty. But he wasn't out of breath totally. He wasn't that old, not yet.

"Stand," he extended a hand to the boy. "Come." At the very least, he needed basic medical attention, which Eleazer could give him. Hopefully nothing more than that.

Andrew bit back a curse. He wasn't willing to speak and draw more attention to himself. He did feel a bit bad though that this guy was trying to help him and was probably going to end up dead too. And then the man was moving in a swirl of white and the knife was gone from his throat with only a small nick to show it had been there at all.

He couldn't help the grunt as he was hauled up by his shirt and shoved, and he couldn't hold back the follow-up sound of pain as the back of his head bounced off the wall again. Sliding down the wall, he shook his head dazedly as a hand came up to gingerly touch his throat and he looked up to the one-sided fight again.

I really can't take much more damage.

Looking up at the man, he shook his head at the order to stand. He really didn't think he could. But, the alternative wasn't very appealing either. He moved his hand from his neck to grab at the man's and pull himself up. His ears started to ring once he was upright and he felt the cold sensation that was the blood draining from his face. Blinking hard, he staggered into Eleazer's chest as his knees buckled, vision darkening.

"Oh shit..." And he wasn't sure if he said that out loud or just thought it. Not that it mattered much as his eyes rolled up and his body went limp.

The boy looked at him with terror and exhaustion in his eyes, and Eleazer waited, patient. They needed to get moving and fast, but he needed a moment, that was obvious. Finally, the young man took his hand and sort of heaved himself upward with Eleazer's steady help, got halfway to his feet and then had a moment of fear—

"Oh shit..."

Eleazer moved before the boy probably even knew what was happening. He caught him around the waist and carefully lifted him up—he was covered in bad bruising, contusions, probably some minorly fractured bones, most likely a concussion. He needed medical attention—Eleazer could give it for some part, and he tossed the young man over his shoulder, dead-weight as he was, and started moving fast down the alleyways.

None of those men would remember him, but they would remember this boy and how injured they were. They would want to go after him. They needed to find somewhere to hide out until he was well enough to go on his way—until the concussion wore off.

Eleazer had a safe apartment about twenty minutes away and he moved quickly and silently through the streets until he reached the apartment, and let himself silently in. Bandages, cold compresses, splints—he had it all here. Moving to the couch at the side of the room, he set down the young man and knelt in front of him, smacking him lightly on the side of the face while he tried to get him to wake up.

Eleazer had never encountered someone passing out while with him and then waking up still with him around, so he had no idea if the young man would remember him or not. It was up to chance.
"Wake up."

Andrew groaned softly as he started to come around, something tapping lightly on his cheek. One eye slowly blinked open and he was able to take in that he was in a building - someone's place? That was reinforced by how he was laying on a couch, one that felt wonderful under his aching body. He wasn't sure that there was any part of him that wasn't throbbing in pain.

And then he saw the man leaning over him. He looked vaguely familiar, like they had passed one another on the street. Had he been the one who had beaten him? No, that had been a friend of his brother and some of his friends. But that didn't explain why he was here. Had they for some insane reason left him alive and this guy found him and taken him home? If so, Andrew was so screwed. Or, he would be. He wasn't sure he could take being raped after the abuse his body had already taken tonight.

"Don't, please," he whimpered, unable to move away as he wanted to between his injuries and the couch he was on. And oh god did he sound pathetic. There was no way he could stop this guy from taking what he wanted. Though, if the vague flashes of white he was remembering were any indication and belonged to this man, then even if Andrew had been fully healthy, he wouldn't have been able to do anything to fight off this guy.

Eleazer paused, freezing when the young man looked at him with terror in his eyes—maybe he did remember. But if he was afraid so for his life that he would beg after Eleazer had obviously saved it—

And then it clicked. He lowered his hand and stepped back, pulling his hand away from the young man's face.
"I will patch you up," he said quietly, moving slightly further back. He had grown up on the street too. The only reason that had never happened to him was that in the first place nobody ever remembered seeing him, and they never came back. And then, when he was old enough that men might have wanted him at first sight, he had been long gone from the streets and found himself in wicked arms and with wicked lips. The peril had always been there as a child though. "Nothing more." Eleazer slowly raised one eyebrow. "Your shirt." Most of his injuries were under that—to get at them meant the young man would need to disrobe at least a little bit, at least enough that Eleazer could disinfect any open sores and bandage any broken bones or bleeding cuts. "I will not touch if you do not wish me to."

Midnight Savior - Eleazer, Andrew Empty Re: Midnight Savior - Eleazer, Andrew

Andrew stared, slowly calming as the man stepped back. Why would he...? It wasn't like there was anything Andrew could do so why was he trying to reassure him? But then, how long had he been unconscious? How far had he been carried? If the man was going to do anything, he could have already. It was pretty clear that he hadn't though - Andrew's clothes were still in place and even with the various pains he had, he wasn't feeling that particular ache.

So, maybe he really did just want to help? But no one ever did. What would he get out of it? And did Andrew really want to care right now? He just wanted to sleep, to lose the pain for a little while. And not just the pain plaguing his body right now, but all of the pain. He just wanted to escape it for a short time and he sure as hell couldn't run from it at the moment.

Gritting his teeth, Andrew forced himself to sit up, face twisting in pain. Oh, that grating feeling in his ribs was as disconcerting now as the last time. He definitely had at least one broken rib. And if the fire in his wrist from when he pulled himself up was any indication, it was sprained. Shifting, he turned and dropped his feet to the floor. He was feeling a little nauseous and his head was pounding, but he wasn't going to let himself pass out again. He had been through worse.

He did try to pull his shirt off, but between his wrist and ribs and the shoulder the pipe had hit, Andrew couldn't force his arms to move far enough. Not without the pain washing over him and making his vision darken. Glancing up at man before dropping his gaze again, he spoke up. "I can't. My arm. You... you're going to have to do it."

He just prayed that trusting this man wouldn't turn out to be a bad idea.
