Best of Intentions -- Trevor, Andrew ((canon))

- Wing: It wasn’t late, just a couple of hours after noon, and Andrew had the house to himself. Kota was probably out with his girlfriend and Trevor was likely at his clinic. Or Shade had decided to drag him out to eat or the movies or something since she had taken to doing that at least once a week. So, because of all of that, Andrew was rather confident that he would be the only one home for at least a couple hours, if not the rest of the day. Which was exactly why he had started to argue with himself before giving in and calling Halt. They went back and forth for a little before finally getting to the heart of the problem.
"Yeah. I don't know what to do. I mean, it's not like I haven't tried to show my interest. I don't know what to do." A pause as Halt spoke. "I'm worried about scaring him away. He's so... shy and reserved all the time. Plus, what if it's too soon? What if he says no? What if he tells me to get lost?" Another pause. "I dunno. A bit over a month, not quite two. A little before his birthday, I made dinner. Found this recipe that used an apple glaze for it. I got him that tea and stuff for his birthday. Got him some chocolates, the ones that aren't sweet since he doesn't really like sweet things. Stuff like that. I'd have gotten him flowers, but I'm pretty sure he would have looked at me like I was insane then ended up giving them to Shade or Kota."
"No idea, but his girlfriend sure does. Just gotta make sure there's no thorns because of her medical condition," was said as Andrew moved into the kitchen. The faucet turned on as he got some water.
" 'Might be'? Halt I'm pretty sure that's more than 'might be' at this point. Besides, how the hell do I do that? 'Hey, Trevor, can we talk? It's nothing bad, or I don't think it's anything bad but you might. I don't know exactly what you think but I've been terrified to talk to you about this sooner because I'm worried that you'll get upset but I can't not talk about it any more. Oh, wait, sorry, I'm babbling. Anyway, what I wanted to talk to you about is that I need to tell you that I'm pretty sure that I'm love with you and that you haven't noticed. What do you say to that? Oh, by the way, I'm free Thursday night if you'd like to go out to eat,' " he said, pitching his voice a bit differently during his 'confession'. "Yeah, I'm sure that would go over wonderfully Halt."
The rest of the conversation was in quieter tones that were difficult to hear unless one was standing just a few feet away from the redhead. A short while after he had hung up, Andrew turned to look around the room, thinking he had heard something. "Hello?"
Tora: Well it’s not like Andrew makes it a habit to check Trevor’s room every time he’s in the house; said man was sleeping behind closed doors for half the day - well at least until now. Everyone deserves one day off right? He’d woken up at 6 when he usually left, felt like shit- the cause probably from spending a little too much time in the summer heat - and promptly curls back into bed. His housemates probably assumed he’d already gone to the clinic without actually checking.
Groggily he drags himself up; throwing the sheets to the side. He only feels maybe marginally better and won’t be able to think coherently until he’s at least had something to drink. Quietly he pads downstairs - hearing Andrew on the phone. The words just wash over him, and if he were given 2 hours to wake up he wouldn’t be 3 steps from rounding the corner into the kitchen when his name pops up and he actually listens. Trevor is still only half functioning but there’s no misinterpreting ‘I love you’.
Why? The ability to stand up seems to have spirited away; falling against the wall until his knees are level with his chest. Just.. no.. he… really, really didn’t want to have heard that - doesn’t want Andrew to think of him like that at all. His throat’s dryer than ever and he can’t go into the kitchen now and pretend nothing was heard; his face is burning in betrayal he just knows. This isn’t like Hoss; where he barely knew the man and it had all come so fast and emotions were so high that he’d barely had time to actually think about it before he accepted the other. This is too real, it’s too much and the urge to panic and run throbs.
Wing: Andrew cautiously poked his head into the hall to glance around, frowning a little as he wondered if someone had broken into the house. Spotting Trevor, he hurried over to kneel next to him. "Are you okay? You look sick," he said quickly, voice full of concern. His phone conversation was forgotten in the face of his friend's state. He reached out to check Trevor's temperature. "Is there any way I can help? Do you need something?"
Tora: Stiffening when Andrew popped over; he did his best to avoid looking him in the face and accidentally flinched away from his touch. "I-I'm fine." He quickly stood up; Andrew didn't know he heard him? If he could escape then- just get away quickly and distract Andrew long enough he can think of everything as normal again. "I just came down for some water." Apologizing in his head for how clipped and dismissive his tone came out just now.
Wing: He blinked and looked up at Trevor, bewildered and hurt at how he was acting. Carefully, he stood again and watched the other. "Did I do..." He trailed off as he realized what had likely happened. "How much did you hear?" he asked warily. He hadn't been ready to just out and out say it, much less for Trevor to overhear as he was talking to Halt. And if the way he was acting was any indication, Trevor hadn't been ready to hear it either.
Tora: He pointedly did not look Andrew in the eyes. "...I didn't hear anything..." His expression - everything from the way his hands balled into fists and his burning face - revealed he was lying. Although technically he had heard everything he'd only listened to the tail end of it. His chest felt tight; threatening to choke him.
Wing: Andrew's face fell at the cold shoulder and the lie. "Oh," he said softly, taking an unconscious step back as his gaze landed on Trevor's hands. He didn't think the other would lash out, but the redhead couldn't help the unease. He mustered up a bright smile that didn't reach his eyes. "I should, um, l-let you get your water. And, um, I'm... I'm gonna go, uh, out for a bit. I'll, uh, I'll be back later. Send me a text if you need me to pick up anything," he said, turning to head toward the front door. He just wasn't quite sure when later would be though.
Tora: It hurts; seeing how much his lie was seen through and the obvious struggle Andrew was putting up to still look at Trevor. He couldn't bare to look up until the click of the door echoed in his ears. He almost sank against the wall again; feeling sick all over again- even worse than this morning. Ironic how he can only seem to hurt people when it came to things like this. It'd be a lot more useful if his power just let him sink into the ground and never resurface. He walked into the kitchen instead and got himself some water.
Why couldn't he just.... say the words Andrew would want to hear? He's a good enough friend; it wouldn't be too hard to hold him even if he didn't feel mutual. That is if Andrew ever wanted to see him again. It wouldn't be hard if that's what the redhead wanted. It'd be hard to run off but there are plenty of knives in the kitchen.
Familiar actions like doing the dishes he could handle; they didn't require any thinking. He bundled up in blankets on the couch; some fleeting impossible hope that he'd overheat and melt in all the heat. He thought about texting Andrew but what was there to say? At least Kota wouldn’t be coming home tonight.
Wing: It wasn't until several hours had passed that Andrew let himself back into the house. His hair was windswept and messier than normal, showing that he had been running for a good while, and he had a bag in his hand that smelled like he had stopped for Chinese. He blinked when he saw Trevor, stopping where he was and shifting awkwardly before turning to close the door shut.
"Hey," he greeted softly, facing Trevor again and lifting the bag a bit. "I picked up dinner. Got your usual and some egg drop soup if you still weren't feeling well."
Tora: Trevor had remained in his blanket cocoon- fallen asleep once or twice though- the entire time. Sadly he hadn't melted into nothing but he did feel like a heater. "Thanks..." The situation was awkward but he won't drop courtesies. Kicking the blankets away to allow freedom of movement but not making any move to get up- he kind of hoped he could just eat where he was. Standing and walking to the kitchen wasn't really appealing.
Wing: Andrew headed for the kitchen. "What do you want? I'll bring it over to you," he said, grabbing a glass to get himself some juice before unpacking the containers. He set aside the potstickers he had gotten for himself then looked at Trevor questioningly. Trevor had given the impression earlier that he didn't want to talk about it, would rather pretend that he hadn't heard any of it, so that's how Andrew was going to act, no matter how much it hurt.
Tora: "Just the soup I guess." In all honesty he really wasn't that hungry; whether it was a result of whatever sickness he was suffering from or the earlier revelation was unclear. Maybe both.
Wing: Andrew nodded and got Trevor a bowl. Grabbing a spoon, he also got a fresh glass of water and carried it all over to set on the coffee table. "I'll put the rest in the fridge for you," he said, turning to head back to the counter. He was also assuming that Trevor would prefer not to have to look at him so he was staying out of the way.
Tora: He took the bowl; cradling it and staring into it's yellow soupiness. He felt like shit; he knows he made Andrew feel like shit and that's just the worst. He took a spoonful and it burned his tongue- chalking it up as retribution for being both stupid and hopeless. ".....I'm sorry." Trevor really would rather drop it and never bring it up again and go back to being oblivious that Andrew would eventually fall out of love as quietly as he had fallen into it and go like someone much much better than him. But that's clearly impossible now so what's the point?
Wing: Andrew paused, one hand holding the fridge door open and the other holding one of the takeaway containers. "For what?" he asked after a beat of silence, looking and sounding confused.
Tora: "...I guess...everything? Overhearing and... not being able to say what you want to hear..." He swirled his spoon around, voice casually fading as the harder words came out. He wasn't sure if Andrew could hear him from the kitchen.
Wing: Andrew forced a smile then turned to bury himself in the fridge and arranging things for the take out to fit. "Nah, it's fine. I should've gone somewhere else to have that conversation." His smile faltered, hidden by the door. "And... Well, honestly, I kind of figured that you'd turn me down." He swallowed, blinking back tears. "You got nothin' to apologize for." It was stupid of him to get his hopes up after all.
Tora: "I didn't... didn't say I’m rejecting you..." That sounded too harsh. And it really isn't his fault about the overhearing- there was all evidence to assume Trevor had been out. The best policy in times like this was to be honest right? At least that's what he's read. And he's too tired and stressed to come up with a lie on the spot. "It's just...surprising. I don't...." He sighed, "I don't know what to think quite yet...."
Wing: He finished putting the food away and straightened, that concealing smile on his face again. "Don't worry about it. I... I should have tried harder not to... to do what I did." His smile faltered a little before he could plaster it back on properly.
Tora: "You didn't do anything wrong..." That he can say with absolute certainty. It was tearing at his heart to watch his friend in so much pain that he caused. "...I'm a really bad person to like Andrew." As if that could change his mind.
Wing: Andrew snorted. "No you're not. You're one of the best people I know," he said earnestly, taking a step closer. "You're kind and selfless and, yeah, you're a bit shy, but I think it's cute. You don't like fighting but you'll stand up for what you think is right and you absolutely dote on Ievan and Shade. There's no way you could be a bad person with any of that much less all of it."
Tora: Is that how he came off to other people? Well... maybe. "I don't let you see my bad side." The only one whose seen that is Caden. No one else has managed to get close enough that they can see all the things he tries to hide. His appetite's gone despite only eating about 3 spoonfuls of his food. "But this is about you. If you think you have to leave the house because of this I'll send Kota and Shade to drag you back." That was the easy part of figuring out this mess. If anyone should leave it's him; Andrew's the one who needed people and a home the most.
Wing: He snorted. "Does anyone really want to let others see their bad sides? You haven't seen most of mine," he pointed out, referring to the violence and anger that he hated and kept as tightly constrained as he could. "Plus, I'm sure Kota wouldn't care and we all know you're more important to Shade. Or did you forget that she threatened to kick me out if I did anything to upset you?" Which actually meant that Andrew probably should start packing now.
Tora: "Yeah; but it's definitely not something I ever want you to see or deal with." Suicidal is a really bad trait to have in a boyfriend. Not to mention the other things. "You undervalue yourself." Maybe at the start; but Kota just doesn't show his feelings very well and Shade grows on everyone. "Then I'll drag you back."
Wing: Andrew crossed his arms with another snort, giving Trevor an amused look. "That's the pot calling the kettle black there," he pointed out in response to the undervaluing comment and not realizing that it was true in more ways than just that. His arms dropped again and he tilted his head at the older man. "You do know it goes both ways, right? If you leave, we'd drag you back."
Tora: He smiled faintly, it wasn't nice. Far too distant and pained to be of any attraction. "Yeah well... you'd have hell trying to find me." If he resorted to Caden he didn't doubt they'd probably never find him. His face flattened out again, "But like I said we're getting off topic."
Wing: "Maybe, but we wouldn't stop. And yeah, I guess we are." He lifted his arms to cross over his chest again, aiming for nonchalant and hitting nervous instead. "What is the topic then?"
Tora: "....Well it should be about-" He gestured vaguely with a hand referring to the whole general 'I know you like me, we both want to avoid it but responsible adults don't do that so we have to talk about it' situation. "-but I’m not actually sure how to go about it." There isn't a story he can recall that had a situation like this to help him out.
Wing: The redhead huffed and looked away. "What is there to talk about?" he asked. "Yeah, I feel pretty strongly for you but you don't feel the same for me. There's not much more to it." He smiled down at the floor, a hint of bitterness and cynicism to the expression. "And I'm pretty sure you didn't notice any of the stuff I did to try and show you my interest so..." He shrugged a little then sighed. "You're fine, you didn't do anything wrong. I'm just going to have to deal."
Tora: Well what can he say to that? "Well as for the oblivious treatment... I’ve always kinda been that way so don't take it personally." Every time someone's shown interest in him that he actually noticed (which is not a lot) the display had been pretty unmistakable for it's intent, even for an idiot like him. He huffed in unison. "I just... it's really out of the blue for me and... I just need some time... to think it over ok? I’m not rejecting or accepting anything yet." He could at least give that much. he's only viewed Andrew as a friend up til now. He's been hurt too many times to jump into anything.
Wing: He nodded before pausing, hands tightening on his arms a little. Lifting his head, he looked at Trevor, studying him before he nodded again, a small and somewhat shy smile coming to his face. "Yeah. That's the least I can do." He looked aside again, dropping one hand and lifting the other to rub the back of his neck. "I'm sorry that this came up like this. It wasn't what I had in mind for how to talk to you about it."
Tora: "Thank you." Truly he means that. It's a little more room on the noose around his neck it feels. "...How did you plan to originally?" His voice is barely a whisper because in truth he really doesn't think he wants to know. Overhearing it over a phone was pretty bad, but an official confession; one where he's expected to answer and there's effort and pressure... it just would've been so much worse.
Wing: He shrugged. "I hadn't figured that out. Probably write it on a note and give it to you then leave the house so that I wouldn't have to be told outright that you weren't interested." His smile turned bitter and somewhat hateful. "I'm a wonderful coward like that." And everyone knew it.
Tora: "I'm not much better." Just look at what he's doing now. Andrew must've been rejected a lot or something if he can handle this conversation so seemingly well. It hurts. "Hypothetically." He managed to look at Andrew's face for the first time today; "What would you do if I could only see you as a friend?"
Wing: Andrew looked back, tilting his head a little. "Are you going to let what I say affect your decision?" he asked bluntly.
Tora: Yes. "No." He had to keep his eyes locked onto Andrew; unwavering for him to believe that.
Wing: If the look on Andrew's face was any clue, he didn't quite believe Trevor but took him at his word. "Hypothetically? I'd probably move out. I wouldn't be able to get over you otherwise."
Tora: "I see...." Well yeah that's really an issue. He definitely would want to avoid that if possible. He really has no choice does he? Trevor stood up, keeping one blanket still around his shoulders, "It's late... we should both get some sleep." It was a dismissive action sure, but his voice and actions were a lot gentler this time.
Wing: Andrew nodded. "I'll clean up down here," he said, moving forward to pick up Trevor's bowl. "Hey, Trev?"
Tora: He'd let him do that; he only took a few steps before turning towards the redhead, "Hm?"
Wing: He met the other's eyes, his own serious. "Don't do what you think you have to. Do what's best for you, alright? I promise, I'll be fine no matter what."
Tora: Like hell he'd believe that. "Yeah. I know."
Wing: He smiled and turned back to tidying up. "Good night. I hope you feel better."
Tora: The entire two weeks he’s been avoiding giving an answer has been agony. It still would’ve been worse to reply though. It’s just… confusing and he’s spent more than a couple nights staring at the ceiling and mentally panicking over this. He knows Andrew’s worse off and it only adds to both of their stress probably. It’s not like they could hide anything from a sharp kid like Kota in the first place; he doesn’t blame him for avoiding the tense atmosphere that’s been plaguing their house.
“I’m back…” It’s late when he comes back from the clinic, shoulder throbbing with a customer’s bullet wound. He knew Kota wouldn’t be here and had no clue if Andrew was hanging around either.
Wing: Andrew looked over in surprise, one foot on one stair and the other on the one above. "Oh, hey. How were things today?" he asked, managing to muster a small smile. He was resigning himself to the fact that Trevor wasn't going to give him an answer or, if he did, it would be rejection. Even with that, he was going to be polite, to try and act as normal as he could. And no matter how much he wanted to ask about how Trevor's decision was coming along, he bit his tongue since he didn't want to push the healer.
Tora: "Just a bullet." He's learned trying to hide what wounds he's taken was useless in the situation so might as well say it up front. He shuts the door so Andrew can't tell he knows the redheads smile is strained. "I can still make dinner tonight so don't try to offer."
Wing: He laughed and shook his head. "You're a better cook so I wouldn't think of arguing," he said, coming down the stairs again to stop in front of Trevor and give him a concerned look. "Did you get it cleaned and bandaged or should I call Doc Rhodes?"
Tora: "I took care of it." He may be used to it but gunshots were always serious and that required actual care. His hand twitched with the urge to ruffle Andrew's hair but he wasn't allowed to do that anymore was he? Walking around the other he headed for the kitchen, "How are you though?"
Wing: He shrugged, trailing after to sit at the island, setting his cup in front of himself. "I'm okay. My art still doesn't want to cooperate." He was having trouble doing anything that wasn't dark and depressing, not that he had been that specific to anyone about it.
Tora: "Sorry.... I don't know anything about art so I don't know what to say." He's glad though that Andrew's focusing on his art though instead of the things he used to do. That's something he can 100% be genuine about. "Is there anything you want to eat?" Otherwise he'd just make something simple like pasta.
Wing: He hummed softly and shook his head. "Anything's fine. Don't do too much and risk hurting yourself more, okay?" He propped his head on one hand. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
Tora: "Ok. Can you grab the spaghetti then?" He bent down to get a pot, then water and set it to heat. It was a bit of a struggle to do it with one arm but he got through it.
Wing: "Sure. Want me to grab any cans while I'm in there?" he asked, getting up to go into the small walk-in pantry that was just off the kitchen. "And do you want me to grab the small box or the big box?"
Tora: "If you want any extras." He was just planning on putting out some butter originally. "And whichever is already open or more empty."
Wing: He nodded and brought out the open box along with a closed one in case the open one wasn't enough. "Anything you want or don't want?"
Tora: "Not really." There was enough for the two of them in the open box; he dumped it in and went to reach for a strainer.
Wing: He nodded and went to look around in the pantry, figuring that he'd just get himself a small can of tomato sauce or something and microwave it in a bowl. "Just the bullet today?" he called back.
Tora: "Yeah... I haven't been getting that many customers lately." He stirred the water; it was still pretty far from being done. He sighed and winced, he'd probably have to change the bandages pretty soon. It had only stopped bleeding heavily an hour ago.
Wing: He nodded, dumping the salsa he had found into a bowl and popping it into the microwave. "Do you want me to take a look at that later?" Trevor wasn't the only one learning stuff from Lisa after all.
Tora: "....You don't have to if you don't really want to." His body was long past being in shock and wrapping up a shoulder with one hand was hard enough as it is.
Wing: "Wouldn't offer if I had a problem with it," he said with a laugh. "Want to do it now or after eating?" he asked, leaning back against the counter in front of the small appliance he was waiting on.
Tora: "After would be good." There wouldn't be enough time to fix it up before with everything almost cooked. The pasta was ready to he hefted the pot and carefully tipped the contents into the strainer and then divided it up onto 2 plates. He grabbed the sauce Andrew put in earlier and poured it over their food as well. "Here you go."
Wing: "Thanks man," he said, taking his plate and digging in. "Salsa is interesting on spaghetti," he offered after a bit. He had no idea if Trevor liked it or not, but he was willing to bet that most people would give odd looks over it.
Tora: "I'll agree on that." It wasn't necessarily bad but it was definitely... different. He chewed slowly and in the end he only eats about half his food before going to store the rest in a container for later.
Wing: He laughed, finishing off his plate and moving to rinse it off. "Where do you want me to look at your shoulder?" he asked, turning to face Trevor.
Tora: "I just need to get the bandage changed." While Andrew was taking care of his plate he went to the bathroom to grab the first aid kit.
Wing: He nodded, rinsing off Trevor's plate too. When Trevor came back out, he motioned for the taller man to take off his shirt. "How bad is it hurting?" he asked, curious if they should get him some painkillers.
Tora: He rolled up his sleeve instead, the bandages mostly soaked through but it seemed less wet than before which was good. Taking his shirt off would definitely be easier but he's avoided Andrew seeing his bare torso well enough and he's not breaking that streak now. "It's not bad." Liar.
Wing: Andrew gave him an odd look. "I'm not going to be able to do the bandages right with your shirt on. Unless you want me groping you under your clothes," he added with a laugh, showing some of his old humor that he had been hiding recently.
Tora: "....Can't you just work around it?" Giving him a slightly pleading look. Groping would definitely be embarrassing but he'd maybe prefer that then stripping.
Wing: He shrugged a little. "If I cut the shirt?" he questioned before sighing. "Look, why don't I just call Lisa? That way you don't need to worry about the guy who likes you that you don't like seeing your chest. Sound fair?" he asked, wincing as he noted his bit of bitterness.
Tora: He winced in return, "No.. I don't want anyone seeing my chest. Or really more of my skin then they have to." He felt self-conscious in t-shirts for Christ’s sake. "It has nothing to do with you liking me."
Wing: He blinked and looked at Trevor, tilting his head as he studied him. "...Would you feel more comfortable to see my scars?" he asked softly, assuming that was what the problem was. "I wouldn't make fun of you or look down on you or anything for any scars you have."
Tora: He averted his eyes uncomfortably. It's more than just the scars... "I don’t know... I just know you can't help but look at them and wonder and... they're painful ok?" He knew Andrew wouldn't judge but... he's still terrified of letting anyone see them; they're like ugly marks of the worst parts of his past and it's like letting that be all exposed and it hurts.
Wing: He nodded, setting one hand on Trevor's. "I understand. I don't like talking about some of mine either, but I have to a few people and it's helped."
Tora: His hand twitched but didn't pull away. "...Do I really have to take it off?" He would not talk about them. It's probably unhealthy and a stupid thing to do but he would not talk about them. Caden was enough and hell he was one of the people who put some of the things on him.
Wing: Andrew thought about it. "Well, if you don't they'll end up loose and might come off while you're sleeping." He shrugged. "It's your choice. How do you want me to do it?"
Tora: Things were silent for moment; Trevor pursed his lips before nervously speaking, "Can... Can you turn around at least please?"
Wing: He nodded, turning his back as asked and closing his eyes as an additional safeguard. Either the scars were really that bad or Trevor was that self-conscious of them. Or both.
Tora: Only when he was absolutely sure Andrew couldn’t look, he worked at getting his shirt off. It took a few minutes and he had to bite his tongue to keep from making a pained noise while doing it. He used his good hand to hold it up against chest, Andrew could get at his shoulder and at least not see the front of his chest. "I'm fine now."
Wing: He waited a moment then turned back. His lips quirked a little at Trevor's positioning and he moved around behind the older man. Cutting the old bandages away, Andrew grabbed the tube of antibacterial ointment, figuring it was better to be safe than sorry, and smeared some over the wound. New gauze pads and bandages were set then Andrew was pulling away. He had been quiet through the process and did his best not to let his touch linger too long. "Done."
Tora: Trevor’s pale normally but the parts of him that aren't exposed to the sun are practically white. It was a bad thing to do but his whole body was tense throughout the process; it's impossible not to notice the ragged scar that ran across his entire back. "Thanks." He waited for Andrew to turn around again before he'd attempt to put his shirt back on.
Wing: Andrew moved over to the sink to wash the bit of blood off, making sure not to look back as he heard Trevor's shuffling and the rustle of his shirt. "Not a problem. I'll look at it again in the morning?" he asked in offer. When the noises died down, he turned to face Trevor again, drying his hands with a paper towel.
Tora: "It should stop bleeding by then." It was harder to put it back on but he somehow managed to do it before Andrew could look around again. He wondered if he should take a painkiller or not.
Wing: Andrew solved that dilemma for him by setting a glass of water and pair of pills in front of him. "Take those or I'll call Shade." And they both knew the brunette would hover like nobody's business.
Tora: "This really isn't anything to call Shade over for." It's just one wound and he was clearly functioning fine and would be back to normal in a few days. He still took the pills and downed them anyways because at the very least he knew Andrew would call her if he didn't.
Wing: Andrew smiled a bit smugly that Trevor didn't argue, but then the smile faded and he looked aside. "...So... How... How much more time do you need?" he asked softly. So much for not asking.
Tora: If he was still drinking water he would've choked on it. His eyes glanced away; forever? Until you fall for someone else? "I...don't know..."
Wing: He nodded slowly. "O-okay." He mustered a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes and turned to start toward the stairs. "I'm going to go to bed. Just holler if you need something, okay?"
Tora: Well shit. "Wait Andrew-" He went after him and stopped just short of latching onto the hem of his shirt. He took a deep breath- this was going to be difficult. "It's just... kind of confusing for me ok? I-I'm really scared of... close relationships. A-and I’m not a good person..." He swallowed thickly, "I... don't want to lose you..." or anyone. But unfortunately not in the romantic sense Andrew hopes for. He left that out on purpose though.
Wing: The redhead paused, listening, then turned back to Trevor. "You don't have to explain it. It's okay." He managed a smile that looked more like himself. "And you're a better person than I am," he said, lifting a hand like he was going to pat Trevor's arm before deciding not to and letting it drop again.
Tora: He sighed before leaning forward and resting his forehead against the redhead’s shoulder. If he was really such a good person he wouldn't be about to lie; "I like you Andrew. I like you a lot, I'm just really really scared." He's convincing at least, Trevor's body trembled just a little because yeah he really is terrified of getting too close to anyone but also because he's lying so he can keep Andrew happy and also here.
Wing: Andrew blinked, freezing in surprise at Trevor's actions. His eyes slowly widened at what he heard and he turned his head a little to look directly at Trevor. "Wh-what? Really?" He hadn't heard that correctly, had he?
Tora: "Y-yeah..." He managed to look into the other’s eyes without wavering. "You know how my other relationships ended.. I just can’t take it if it happened again." The most convincing lie is the one that holds truth in it.
Wing: He smiled and shook his head. "I wouldn't do that to you," he said, brushing his lips gently over Trevor's forehead.
Tora: "That's the thing about trauma. You can say all you like and it won't help." He was used to enough casual kisses from Shade to not react to Andrew.
Wing: "I know. But I'll say it as many times as I have to until you believe me," he said. "Do... Do you want... to try?" Because just because a pair of people liked each other, that didn't mean that they were automatically together.
Tora: "Yeah... we can try." Maybe he'll learn to love him; he'd be going against what he's said but it'd make this easier maybe.
Wing: Andrew smiled widely, his eyes and expression lighting up. He turned more fully toward Trevor and hugged him. "Thanks," he whispered.
Tora: Yeah it was worth it. It felt like he hadn't seen Andrew that happy in forever. He hesitated for a moment and wrapped his arms around the other as well. "Don't thank me ok?" Really. Don't. He doesn't deserve it.
Wing: "Why not?" he asked, confused and tilting his head back to look up at him. "Why shouldn't I thank you for giving me a chance?"
Tora: "Ah it just... it makes it sound like I agreed just for your sake." Which is exactly what happened but he doesn't want to be reminded of it. Guilt hurts.
Wing: He blinked then nodded slowly. "Well, you didn't so it doesn't matter," he said with a smile, closing his eyes and leaning his head against Trevor's.
Tora: "Mmmm...." That was a vague enough reply. What was he supposed to do in this kind of situation? He was pretty useless.
Wing: Andrew pulled back some. "When would you like to go on our first date?" he asked, smiling.
Tora: "Um... After my shoulder heals?" It's not like he really had a schedule to keep or anything.
Wing: He nodded. "Where would you like to go?" he asked. He was pretty sure he'd have enough credits, but if he had to, he could probably borrow some from Halt.
Tora: "Uh... I don't really know... I’ve... never really been on a date.." Not your average stereotypical one at least from what he gathered from reading. And to be honest the usual things like going to the movies or an amusement park really had no appeal to him.
Wing: He nodded, tilting his head back to think. "How about... we go out for pizza then a walk around the park?"
Tora: "S-sure." His shoulder would definitely be mostly healed if not completely by then. It was just going a bit fast for him. Could he fake it well enough by Friday? Maybe. But they also lived together so that complicated things.
Wing: Andrew smiled happily. "Cool. If you're not feeling up to it, let me know and we can change plans or reschedule. Sound fair?"
Tora: "S-sure..." Okay. Friday he had plans then. He marked it on his mental calendar. Does that mean he should maybe avoid taking an serious injuries until then? But refusing something in his job is really bad and possibly could get someone killed. Didn't want to let down Andrew either. This is hard.
Wing: His smile widened and he leaned close to kiss Trevor's cheek, pushing up on his toes a little to reach better. "You should probably get some rest. It's late," he said, voice soft and happy. "Like I said, I'll check your bandages in the morning."
Tora: He nodded, "You too...Sleep well." Kissing him back just would be a little too much even if it may have been appropriate. He ruffled Andrew's hair instead and started to head upstairs. Honestly he's not sure how much sleep he would get with this entire day weighing over his head.
Wing: Andrew watched him go, not feeling the least bit guilty this time about focusing on his butt, then grinned widely and pulled out his phone. He had to tell Halt about this.
