Abrupt Meetings and Late Night Strolls [Kyna, Trevor, Nolli]

Kyna leaned against the brick wall of an alley in South District, her phone in hand. She was scrolling through her messages and emails, reconfirming for probably the twentieth time that the small building across the street was indeed where the man she wanted information from was currently residing.

Pocketing the navy device, the brunette sighed heavily. What was taking so long? He was supposed to be done work an hour and a half ago. Now dusk was falling and people were quickly hurrying back to their homes.

“Geez…” Kyna muttered as she shoved both her hands deeper into her jacket pockets. She turned her head and looked out the alleyways entrance; she could see the buildings main entrance from there, which was why she chose the spot.

Although she liked her job of gathering information and such, it was times like this that it was really boring. The brunette lightly tapped the back of her head against the wall while thinking.

Connar Barnes, 36, small time lawyer. Wife, Amelia Barnes, 34, barista. Two son’s, Brett and Garth, 10 and 8. Barnes was known to have connections to smaller gangs, which was how he kept his family out of the streets. About a week ago, a fifteen-year-old boy had died do to a bad batch of drugs, which Kyna had managed to trace back to Barnes and his gang associates.

Which was why she was standing there, waiting; she wanted to ask the man where he’d gotten his merchandise so she could give the info to the police and prevent it from happening again. Of course, she wasn’t going to let Barnes off the hook that easily; he’d done something stupid and gotten someone killed, so she was going to give him a scare.

….or not. It seemed like she was beaten to the punch; just as Barnes had finally stepped out of the building and started down the street, three tall men appeared and called to him. Barnes turned and looked at them before blanching and taking off in the other direction as fast as he could. The men quickly followed suit.

“Damn it!” Kyna muttered as she ran after them, “This is going to be a long night.”

It’s late out, later than Trevor had meant to stay out but he’d had to deal with some petty thief who’d caught him on his way to a small store he knew that sold food cheap. In the end there was a small fight (the thief had actually been hiding a large cutlery knife and was pretty adept at using it) and by the time he had reached his intended destination the place was closed. Cursing every damn resident of this shitty district while starting on his long trek back to the current abandoned clothing store he was using as his “home” for now.

The sun seemed to have set further somehow, the streetlamps flickering to life not even halfway back. Night was dangerous, so back alleys and other recluse routes were taken as a precaution. So far he hadn’t run into anything. That’s good.

He’s just walking out of one alley when 4 men raced by him. He only spared a glance, they a bounty or something? He didn’t recognize the glimpse of a face he had seen from the last time he’d checked the bulletin. Oh well, not his problem. But that quickly changed, a girl running full speed crashed into him, landing him flat on the pavement, “ow…”

Why exactly was Nolli taking a stroll around in South District this late? Because that's just where the Metro happened to have taken him that night. Thankfully, he'd remembered to bring his trusty, weaponized toilet plunger. South District wasn't exactly what you would call safe (that's an understatement), especially at night. Nolli himself usually didn't have problems with thieves though, due to his unique choice of weapon and... potentially upsetting choice of clothes. Tonight for example, he wore a neon-green trench coat over that nearly glowed in the dark, over a royal-purple turtleneck and black leather pants. To finish the outfit off, he adorned himself with knee-high, rust colored legwarmers under pumpkin-orange rain boots. Thieves often times avoid people who look as deranged as Nolli.

Spotting some commotion up ahead, Nolli continued forward, curiosity getting the best of him. He paused in the middle of the street under the beam of a nearby streetlight. He swung his plunger over his shoulder, and waited. The four men that had been quickly approaching came to a sudden halt, most likely startled by Nolli's fully illuminated figure.

"Stop right there, you fiends..." he mocked in a half-hearted attempt to sound like a superhero, he pointed the plunger at them. He wasn't so much interested in them as he was in the two figures that lay beyond them. It was a young man and woman, both around Nolli's age. They lay, slightly dazed, in the middle of the street.

Clearly getting the wrong idea about the two, Nolli remarked to himself, "OoOoh, how scandalous..."

The four men Nolli had been holding back with his plunger finally seemed to get over their initial shock. As they started to move, Nolli's attention was grudgingly drawn back to them. "I said halt in the name of justice, motherfuckers," waving the plunger at them. The four stared at him, bewildered. Nolli was aware that the men probably weren't scared of him, most likely, they simply just didn't know how they were supposed to handle the situation at hand (Nolli used Confusion! It's super effective!). He wasn't exactly in a foul mood, yet, (he'd failed to take his blood pressure meds tonight) but he would be if the sketchy men did anything to remotely piss him off.

Shit he must’ve hit his head in the fall. He was vaguely aware that the female who must’ve run into him was also lying on top of him as a result. Trevor was spared having to remove her himself when she scrambled to her feet a moment later. He sat up, holding the back of his aching head with one hand.

Another one not belonging to him was held out to him, looking up he finally got a good look at the girls face. The most notable feature was the two feathers tied into her dark brown hair. “I’m fine.” He pushed himself back up onto his feet with a small grunt and almost instantly wanted to retract that statement when he turned to see the direction she was looking at.

The four guys he had seen running earlier were being held back by… a bright neon guy with what looked like a toilet plunger? Maybe he had hit his head harder than he thought. He would’ve left this crazy situation but he was just as stunned by crazy guys appearance that he couldn’t do anything but stand and stare. "Do you...know him?"

Nolli swung the plunger back over his shoulder and watched intently as the girl got up and dragged one of the men away from the group.

“Thanks for stopping them!” Nolli gave her a small salute. He watched as the the dark haired girl spoke to the 30 some man.

"Do you...know him?" The black and white haired guy addressed the girl. Nolli turned his attention towards him. I hope he doesn't think I'm hitting on his girlfriend...

Nolli interjected, "Oh no, don't get me wrong. I'm just taking an evening stroll." He continued, "I definitely wasn't trying to pick up your girlfriend or anything, I just happened to walk by, that's all." Nolli gave the still slightly dazed guy a broad smile, hoping he wasn't mad.

His smile disappeared and he cocked his head in order to hear better. Are those what I think they are? Yep. Definitely sirens. "Hey," he addressed the girl, "I don't know if this works in your favor, but there's definitely squad cars heading this way..."

Someone must have seen the commotion and decided to call the police. Pft, who knew there was actually police in South District...

“W-what?” This guy really must be crazy randomly assuming that this girl he just met was his girlfriend. Clearly said female was as equally shocked by the sentence, already explaining that they didn’t even know each other.

"I don't know if this works in your favor, but there's definitely squad cars heading this way..." Shit, he heard the sirens too. Technically there was nothing he had done that was illegal besides petty theft but considering he’s helped out quite a few gang members before…

He barely paid attention to the conversation between the girl and the four men she had been chasing., they were no threat anyways, all bravado and nothing to back it up. He kept his eyes in the direction of the loud wailing, it was steadily getting closer. He really should’ve run by now but from the way the girl was talking she sounded like a cop as well and he’d only look suspicious if he bolted.

"What do you say we get the heck out of here?" When he looked to answer he also noticed the red-haired male was lying on his back as if he was thrown. He ignored it, there were more important matters to be taken care of sooner. “I don’t need your help in getting away.”

Nolli watched as the girl blew the red-headed thug back with seemingly little effort. Ooh? I harbinger, eh? "What do you say we get the heck out of here?"

The Black and White guy replied first, “I don’t need your help in getting away.”
Unsure of how the cops would take to his unique attire and even more unique weapon, Nolli raised his hand, "Well, I think I'll take you up on that offer." He didn't have enough pride to try and escape on his own. Looking back at blue eyed guy, whose eyes were actually quite blue now that Nolli had a better view of them, he said, "You sure you don't wanna tag along? I bet it'll be fuunnn~"

Nolli shot a look at the at the shaky blond man who was just about ready to piss himself, "What are you gonna do about him though?"

Nolli didn't know who he was, or what he did that caught the attention of the three thugs and the brunette, but judging from the Brunette's actions, Nolli could tell that she wanted him for something. Nolli could also tell that the thugs wanted him dead. Oh the thugs, almost forgot about them. Two of them had already started to flee, and the red-head stumbled, a bit dazed, shortly behind them. Tsk, oh well, so much for them.

Looking back at the harbinger girl, he asked, "Alright, so what's the course of action?"

This night just keeps getting more interesting.
