[Xiana]Shocking Revelations[Kota]

The usual bustling in the salon woke Kota from his dreamless sleep. Well, he was already half-awake but who the heck would want to get up so early on a Saturday? Definitely not him. He stretched out on his futon, yawning and blinking away the remaining sleepiness. Judging by the volume of noise, it was probably close to noon.

He stood and prepared for the day. And by day he meant meeting up with Xi, not working. The fact that he got to spend a day (or half a day) with her made him happy. There wasn't many people he actually enjoyed the company of, but she was an exception. So was his boss, the salon owner. They both had this serene sort of aura that Kota couldn't help but feel comfortable in. Slipping black arm bands over his burns, he made sure all the other flaws were well hidden, a habit that's become a part of his daily routine. The bruises were healing, which was good, but they never went away completely and that fact bothered Kota to no end.

With his futon all put away in the closet, he pushed open the door out of the small back room and into the main structure of the salon. Scanning the area, he spotted familiar long black hair. Yup, that's Xiana. Her back was to him, but he could still see that she was wearing her usual pastel colored dress. It suited her personality. She was talking to the owner, both laughing falling into a cheerful laughter, each with a gentle melodic pitch.

Kota would've loved to drown in that sound if Xi wasn't laughing so damn happily with Caius. Not that he didn't want her to be in a good mood. He just felt irritated that it wasn't with him.

"Xiana!" he called out, fast walking up to her. Some of the customers greeted him with a 'hi' or a 'how are you today, cutie.' He waved them off, still approaching the pair.

Xiana had awoken to the sound of the metro passing by. It was a nice and sunny day, perfect for taking a stroll. She slid herself out of bed and rubbed her eyes to wake herself up. Xiana waited until her mind fully cleared before she headed over to the restroom where she washed her face and then carefully slipped into her favorite pastel pink dress she had picked out the night before.

A glance at the clock told her it was only 10:30 and knowing Kota, he was probably still asleep. Xiana walked over to the kitchen where she had prepared salted caramel candy for him last night. Searching the drawers, she finally came across some blue cellophane wrap with matching ribbons. The blue violet eyed girl cautiously held the bag on the palm of her hand and dropped each piece in one by one. Then, taking a piece of the ribbon she tied a nice bow to secure the top.

The whole process had taken her almost an hour, but it was worth it. If she got a paper cut now, she wouldn’t have been able to see Kota and she’d be on her way to the hospital. She shivered at the thought of it. Xiana placed the candy in a small gift bag with a handle she could carry before leaving the house. Arriving at the salon, she glanced in to see many people, but a particular man caught her eye.

“Xiana,” Caius, the salon owner, greeted the girl with a smile. He motioned her to come in.

“Good morning,” she whispered softly, looking down to the ground.

“Are you here to see Kota?” The girl nodded, “That shrimp is probably still sleeping in the back,” he laughed. Xiana liked his laugh. It was bright and full of cheer. It made her feel happy too. It was nice to be near her brother, even if he didn’t know it.

“Xiana!” A familiar voice cut through the noise. She turned around to see Kota walking over to them. Xiana smiled at him and then stopped. For some reason he looked kind of mad.

He wasn't mad. Okay, a little mad because Caius was probably cracking jokes about his height again. Like calling him shrimp and shit like that. It's not like Kota could help being short, and didn't mind most of the time as long as they didn't call him out on it and rub it in his face. God.

Stopping in front of the two, he gave Caius a smile. The kind of comical strained smile that had 'I will rip your nuts off' written all over it. "Goooood mooorning, Booooss." The sarcastic and utterly fake cheerful tone dripped from his voice. "Well, I'll be borrowing Xi for the rest of the day. Taaa~"

Taking the dark-haired girl's hand, he tugged her out of the salon. He could hear Caius's laugh as the door slid closed. Kota kept walking, not sure where he was actually going but it didn't really matter. Here in the North, it was about as safe as a place could get. People around stopped to watch the pair pass through. They must've looked like elementary school students, goddammit (which is one of the reasons he refused to go to school on a daily bases).

The two had reached an semi-deserted park fountain by the time he realized that Xiana was still being dragged on. Oh shit, I hope I wasn't too rough. He wouldn't forgive himself if he hurt her like that. Dropping her hand, he turned to made eye contact with her starry space ones. "Sorry Xi, are you...okay?" His gaze fell to the left at the end of the sentence. He felt like kicking himself for forgetting how frail she was. "I mean, I- sorry." Putting his hand on the back of his neck, his cheeks colored a light powder pink.

Kota's smile towards Caius did not reassure her at all. It was obvious that he didn't at all like her talking to his boss. It wasn't like she could help herself, being separated from her long lost brother and all, but that was a secret that only she and her manager knew about. Occasionally she did feel a need to tell him, but whenever she tried, she could never bring herself to say it out loud.

Kota took a hold of hand and pulled her to the door. His grip on her hand tightens as he hauled her farther and farther away from the salon. Ouch, Xiana thought. The pain was almost reaching an unbearable level when they arrived at a park fountain.

Dropping her hand, Kota turned to face her, "Sorry Xi, are you...okay? I mean, I-sorry." He managed to say before looking away from her. Xiana rubbed her wrist from behind her back. It still stung a little, but hopefully a bruise wouldn’t start forming or else she really would ruin their day together. That was the last thing she wanted.

“It’s okay, Kota,” she beamed, “It didn’t hurt at all.” The girl, remembering her bag of treats, held it out towards him with her other hand, “I made some salted caramels yesterday.” Even though it wasn’t much, she just wanted to see his smile.

Kota's eyes flickered to Xi's wrists when she stuck the behind her back, obviously trying to hide the pain. He didn't believe her bullshit that it didn't hurt. Of course it hurt. He was such a dumbass. It wasn't even funny that he forgot she was so delicate, delicate like a pretty little china doll; She was just as easily hurt too. It's been at least a half a year since he's known her. There was just no. Fucking. Excuse.

"No, really let me see-"

“I made some salted caramels yesterday.”

Using the non-injured hand, she held a bag of salted caramels out to him. The blue transparent baggy was filled with evenly cut squares of the candy. The top of the bag was tied closed by a neat ribbon. The whole assemble looked like something store-bought, but he knew Xiana would never buy him anything she could make. And she knew the only candy he would eat were salted caramels. God, she was so nice to him and what'd he do in return? He vice gripped her hand today to say the least. Might as well add it to the other times he almost sent her to the hospital for not thinking.

He didn't realize he was scowling until he saw Xiana smile falter. Oh, she wouldn't want this day to be ruined just because he was having a self-hate moment with himself. Just, damn. Why the fuck am I so rough? She even looks like she has a 'F R A G I L E' packaging tape smacked over her dress.

Blinking, he gave her his angelic little smile, the one he used when his mood was really stupidly bad. It was almost literally chock full of heavenly light and innocent good-ness.

"Yeah, thanks!" he said, carefully taking the blue cellophane package from her. Man, he hoped she couldn't see how fake that sounded. He was grateful, really, that she always made him little treats. It wasn't her fault he was always an ignorant dick.

She felt stupid. To start off their day with both of them upset wasn’t really what she had wanted or expected. She was always such a burden yet Kota always stayed by her side for the last six months. Xiana didn’t want to be such a hassle; she didn’t want to always rely on him. If only I was more independent then Kota wouldn’t have to always look after me, she thought as she blinked back the tears, Stop crying, Xiana. Stop it.

Kota took the bag out of her hand, careful not to hurt her in the process and smiled, “Yeah, thanks!” Kota smiles were always so beautiful, when they were real. Being with him for those six months had taught her something about his smiles. Sometimes they felt too perfect, too fake. Xiana motioned him to come closer with her hand. She leaned closer to him and stared straight into his silvery green eyes . . . and pinched his cheeks. She laughed and twirled in a circle, her pink dress fluttered as her hair whipped around her.

“Don’t be angry, Kota.” She said with in a soft voice when she came to a stop. A sad smile spread across her lips, “I’m fine, it’s not your fault.” Although, hiding her hand behind her back meant that it was clearly not okay. She turned her back to him and pulled her hand in front of her so she could exam her wrist. She let out a sigh of relief when she noticed that no bruises had formed. The pain was almost gone too.

“What shall we do today?” She tilted her head to look back at him and smiled a genuine smile. Now, he had nothing to would worry about.

Instinctively, Kota tilted back a bit when Xiana leaned in. Meeting, her stare, he studied the moving space in pupils, a dark contrast to the girl's white sclera. So he didn't see it coming when she reached out to squished his cheek fat between her fingers. Ouch, what the hell. He flinched back, not used to people actually laying their hands on him. In all honesty, he hated that people assumed he was a little kid and absently patted his head, or grab his baby fat (which he wished would just melt the fuck already).

In this case though, he knew Xiana meant well and her action was just because he faked a smile. Still, it was uncomfortable to have someone touch him, chalking this all up to the hag's excessive abuse. Kota lifted a hand to rub his cheeks just as the girl twirled away.

"I'm not mad," he retorted childishly. Catching it, he sighed. "Let me see your hand anyway." It wasn't that he didn't trust the girl, heck she was his closest friend and they've only known each other for such a short period of time, but she had this tendency to hide her pain. He didn't understand why she would, considering it'd be worse for everyone if she kept all the injuries to herself. Kota had his own reasons to keep his scars carefully covered--it was a narcisstic reason but a reason all the same.

Taking a look at her outstretched arm, he saw there was no bruise whatsoever. He carefully turned her thin wrist over to inspect the other side. Mentally super-relieved that Xiana was all good, Kota relaxed.

What would they do today? He honestly had some sort of thing planned out yesterday night but he had forgotten it on the way here. Yes, he had a wonderful memory. It wasn't so bad that it bordered short-term memory loss though. It was more like those times when you just forget important stuff that you spend hours plotting once a person asks about it. "Well, uh..."

He glanced up at her and noticed once again that her hair was down. It looked so much prettier when she tied it up. Patting the edge of the fountain, he gestured for her to sit down. Well, at least he could fix her hair while trying to remember why the heck he wanted to take the black-haired girl out today.

Xiana began to hum a small tune, a lullaby, as Kota motioned her to sit down. Its melody was 4 notes repeated in different order and then it would restart all over again. Xiana couldn't exactly remember when she heard it or even where, but it was a soft lullaby that always calmed her down when she needed it. Not like she needed it at that moment (she just liked it).

She swung her legs back and forth while Kota pulled the pins out of her hair one by one. Xiana began to softly whisper the lyrics to the melody. She felt somewhat bothered by the fact that she couldn't recall where she had heard the song. It felt like she always knew it.

While Xiana was thinking, Kota used his fingers to brush out her long black hair to get rid of the knots and tangles that probably formed when she slept with her hair down. He pulled her hair back, being as gentle as possible, and twisted it into a high bun before securing it with a hair tie and some bobby pins. He then proceeded to putting her kanzashis back in place.

Kota took his time styling Xiana's hair into the traditional bunned style that he always gave her. It's not like she looked bad with other styles; it's just that this one suited her the best. Simple and cute just like her. Uh- what. Blushing slightly he pushed the thought from his mind and focused on raking through the small knots as gently as possible. He never used a brush, or worse a comb, with her, always afraid he'd tug too hard and cause some irreparable damage.

While he worked the kanzashi back into her glossy black strands-he loved how soft her hair was-he remembered the reason he called her out today. He wanted to show her a new 'playground' he found. God, that made him sound childish huh? Well he didn't really have any other words to describe it other than a place to...play.

Smiling, Kota began the outline of his plans for the day. "What I was thinking today was checking out this place that I found last week. I scouted it to make sure it's safe too. The security takes their break around this time so getting in will be smooth." Then he paused his rambling. "That is, uh, if you want to come?" He wasn't revealing anything directly because he wanted to surprise her. The downside of all that was the simple fact that she might feel sick from already being literally dragged around so much. Maybe I should wait for another time...

“That is, uh, if you want to come?" Xiana looked up at Kota and grinned. Their faces inches away. A red rosy color painted her cheeks; she quickly looked away and hopped up from her seat. As always, the bun Kota had tied was nice and secure. She wouldn’t need to worry about it being lose or falling apart. Kota was an expert at what he does; at least that was what Xiana thought.

“Of course I want to go, why wouldn’t I?” She asked. After all, the girl would go anywhere with Kota. She trusted him with all her heart. Xiana let Kota lead the way and wondered to herself, I wonder what kind of place needs a security guard. She giggled to herself. Every day she spent with Kota was always an adventure waiting to happen.

Before she met Kota and Caius she would spend her free days at home either reading or composing new melodies and songs. Xiana loves music and enjoys playing the piano and violin, but she also wanted to be able to go out and have fun without worrying about getting hurt. With Kota, she felt safe. She hummed the melody to the song she had been composing on the piano for the last week or so; her songs never had lyrics (she wouldn’t be able to sing it anyways) and together they continued down the road.

When she agreed, Kota's face lit up into a real, genuine smile unlike the one he forced earlier. It was the most beautiful smile he's pulled all week. Seems like Xiana was one of the only people that could put him in such a good mood. And without further ado, he gently intertwined his fingers with hers and they were on their way. "Don't worry about where we're going. Just trust me."

He weaved in and out of the crowds, not going too fast for his companion's sake even though he was extremely excited. Out of any of the places he had found this one was, by far, the best one. It had more 'games' and contraptions that were far more advanced. 'Playground' was a fitting name for it. It was definitely more suited for the pair.

Upon reaching a tall building, he eased to a stop and turned to face Xiana, daintily laying one finger on her soft lips. "Okay, you need to just follow my lead and don't make a sound." Kota hardly ever asked for consent or even an 'OK' from the other party. He gave an order and expected them to follow. Or not follow and get out of his sight. Not that he would do anything like that to Xi, but it was just a habit.

The building loomed over them, at least thirty stories tall, with a professional sleek feeling among the shiny black finish. It looked entirely like a giant business building. Because it was. The place was a side branch building for large electronic producer. So of course it was high tech. In front of the glass doors stood one lone guard clad in black. One guard? No problem. So long as Xi kept her end of the deal, everything will be a cinch.

The little girl looked up at the tall black building before turning to Kota and whispered, "Okay." Kota took her through the trees and bushes towards the other direction of where the man who was standing in front of the door was at. He would brush away low tree branches in their way as they traveled through the forest like surrounding. A little moment later they stopped. Her hand squeezed his when they came across rows of thorny bushes.

"I'll be fine," she glanced at Kota, "I'll be careful." They took their time, slowly making their way across. Any wrong step would lead to serious injuries and they both knew it. Xiana felt her body tense up and didn't relax until they finally reached the end of the thorns.

She exhaled a breath of relief and a weak smile spread across her face. Kota guided her a few more steps and then lifted up a long willowy branch out of their way. At first she didn't see anything, but as they moved closer she saw a door hidden behind the branches.

Kota careful tread through the shrubbery, making extra sure no lethally sharp branch or leaf touched her. Not only would that get them caught, the guard probably would question them to the point where it would be too late to get the girl to the hospital to fix her up. It was times like these that Kota wished he had some sort of healing-type mutation rather than the fucking moonlight one he had. He didn't really utilize it that much (never had a reason to either) but it was so hard to use efficiently that he probably couldn't protect Xiana with it. It could only be used at night and, god he'd be a dumbass if he took her out past sunset. The other problem was that shit didn't even work half the time.

Sure he'd been practicing but all the moving clouds kept getting in his way. And it didn't help that he couldn't really be outside practicing in the night for certain reasons. Like, the North had so many buildings that obstruct the light passage so much that he couldn't get anything feasible out of it. Practicing anywhere else was practically picking a fight with the gang members patrolling around, and let's not forget the pedophiles. And doing anything at home the dumbest fucking thing anyone could do. It was equivalent to suicide in the goriest and ugliest sort of way.

When they reached the door, the blonde looked back at his companion, hand still snuggly in hers. Her face a little flushed from the distance they crossed, and he was sure his own face looked the same. "Still good?" he asked. If she wanted to go home, then by all means, he would take her home no questions asked. She would never refuse though and he didn't see any scratches on her yet.

He pulled his fingers away to carefully unlatched the wooden door. This whole scene looked like one of those fairytales with two kids finding a magical door to a fairy world. Ew. Shaking the thoughts from his head, he gestured for Xiana to enter first. The opening was tiny even for them, so they'd have to bend down a bit to get through. They could take their time in any case since this door led to a storage room. When Xi was halfway through, Kota heard a rustle in the grass. He stiffened, taking a protective step in front of the girl, and scanned the surrounding area. He hoped she got across soon, then only he would get caught.

Xiana always pictured fairy tales scenes coming to life and at that moment she felt as if she was surely living in one. From the moment they met, Kota had brought (as cliché as she thought it sounded) magic into her life. Xiana had loved fairy tales ever since she was a child, her favorite being Alice in Wonderland. As much as the girl didn’t want to admit it, she was jealous of Alice even though Alice was a storybook character. Alice was free to explore Wonderland and live her life the way she wanted to, unlike Xiana, who was constantly stuck at home.

As Xiana tried to fit through the tiny door, she couldn’t help but giggle to herself. She felt just like Alice. When she was completely in, Xiana turned to face Kota whose back was now facing her, blocking her view of the other side. That’s when she heard the rustling coming from the trees. All the color flushed out of her face. The noise grew louder and louder as it came closer towards them.

“Kota,” Xiana whispered so soft that she almost couldn’t hear herself. Her eyes trailed to the bushes in front of him. It wasn’t until a small dog pounced out in front of them that Xiana realized she hadn’t been breathing.

Kota blew out the huge breath he had been holding when a tiny white dog sprang from the bushes. Okay, it wasn't that small more like a medium. By medium, the blonde meant the animal has half his own size. Sadly, that wasn't saying much. It's fur was snow white, surprisingly clean, and had an extremely fluffy coat of fur. An Eskimo? S/he didn't bark and just kind of stood there watching him.

"Uh, sit," he commanded quietly, pointing his finger down. The dog sat, panting and wagging its floofy tail. Huh, so he was trained but he didn't have a collar. Motioning with his finger in a circle, Kota mimed rolling over without actually speaking. The dog obeyed and rolled over on his back then back to sitting position. The blonde smiled before realizing that the longer he stayed out here wasting time, the higher the risk of getting caught. Guards didn't stay on break forever. Giving the white dog a small wave, he climbed in the door. "Byebye," he whispered before pulling the door shut. He heard the dog let out a small whine, which he really hoped that one guard out there didn't hear.

Sitting up, he glanced around the familiar room. It was filled with boxes and crates and shelves. It was more of an unused storage room than anything. "Alright, Xi. Let's go. We technically need to get on the twentieth floor. I think we can make it on the elevator if we hurry and if not, we'll need to take the stairs. I'm hoping we don't have to do that." He pushed soundlessly pushed open the metal door a crack just to make sure the hallway was clear. The entire way was empty. Kota gestured to his companion and slipped out the door. Hopefully she could keep up, because the elevator was all the way at the end of this one-way hall.

She could hear her footsteps echo as she walked down the hallway to the elevator. Xiana wondered what Kota was doing when he found the place they were heading to. Pushing the elevator's "up" button, they waited patiently for it to arrive.

The light blinked a couple of times followed by a ding as the door slipped open. Thankfully, it was empty. The two of them entered just in time for the doors to close behind them. Xiana let out a small breath of relief. She wouldn't had known what to say if someone were to caught them sneaking around.

The girl watched as Kota pressed down on the circular button that had the number 20 on it. Xiana glanced at the side of the elevator and was completely amazed. The building was made of 65 floors plus an extra 5 underground parking lots. She was tempted to press all the buttons just to see where it would lead them to.

Finally, the elevators came to a stop an the doorways slid open to revel the cutest playground she had ever seen. Xiana gasped. If she could, she would've pinched herself to see of she was dreaming.

Rather than a park playground, the room was filled with technological rides, all brand new and fashioned to suit the tastes of preteens. Most, Kota had learned, were in the prototype phase. It wasn't the first prototype of course, those would be dangerous as fuck to use. The gadgets were pretty safe. This whole room was actually three stories un-seperated and stretched a good distance. Well, they can't really keep huge slide rides in a one story room without major complications.

On his first visit here, he had tested the stuff, and they were stable for the most part. Or at least safe enough for Xi to get on and not cause serious bodily harm to herself. As to why the blonde had been sneaking into a highly-guarded technology toys manufacturing building the on the twentieth floor, let's just call it a stroke of luck. Maybe a bit of inspiration and a huge amount of curiosity as to what sleek professional buildings held. Which isn't to say he broke into every huge corporation building in the North. Just sometimes, when he had free time.

He stood behind his companion, giving her a moment to take in her surroundings. "Well, you like?"

“Like? Kota I love it!” Xi exclaimed happily as she walked towards the uniquely structured slides and swings. Although, they didn’t look completed quite yet, Xiana thought that it looked amazing. She loved playgrounds and childish things due to the lack of them in her childhood. Sometimes she felt as though it was immature of her, but she couldn’t change the way she felt.

“I wish I could’ve come here with my brother when I was younger.” She said, unaware that she was conveying her thought out loud. ”Things probably would’ve been a lot different if that happened,” She glanced around the room and then realization hit. Her hands flew to her mouth and she turned around to see if Kota had heard anything from her little monologue.

“I mean- oh look at that bird!” She said pointing towards the ceiling which was covered in fluorescent bulbs of lights. She covered her face in embarrassment. Why didn’t I think of something more realistic? She cried in her mind, Why am I so stupid. I can’t believe I let something so important like that slip.

Kota was glad she liked it. It was nice that they both shared this childish interest in these things. He too did not play around that much during childhood. He hardly left the house up until three years ago.

“I wish I could’ve come here with my brother when I was younger. Things probably would've been a lot different if that happened.” Wait, say what now?

"You have a brother?" he asked a little too fast. As far as Kota knew, Xi was an only child abandoned by her mother. If she had a brother then where the hell was he at that time? Xiana suddenly looked like she said something she should not have.

“I mean- oh look at that bird!”

Kota snorted at her failed attempt to divert from her slip-up. Only, it would have been more believable if she chose something that would logically be in the room. It would be a miracle if a bird could make it's way in here through the front door, up the elevator, and passed all the security. Another thing that might have helped is if Xi was a better liar. She had no skills in that department sadly and Kota wasn't going to drop the subject.

"Tell me about this brother whom I have never heard about."

“What- what brother?” She stuttered, trying to brush off the subject, but Kota’s intent look clearly told her that he wasn’t going to pretend her slip up never happened. She pouted and sat down on the nearby swings. “I don’t think you’ll be too happy when you hear this.” She began as she pushed herself back and forth slightly, “oh, but you have to promise not to blame him, okay? It’s not like he knew I was around anyways.”

Xiana took a deep breath and with a shaky voice, told him what she knew, “When I finally found a place to well, live… I went back home to get more of my things. I didn’t want anyone to notice so I would take a little bit at a time. I ended up having to take around 40 trips home. I realized most of my things were put away so I had to look through the attic and the hallways closet.” She paused, a bit unsure on how to go on.

“I found a box. A box of scrapbooks with pictures of a guy I never met with my parents. She glanced up at Kota. “That’s it…”Xiana took a deep breath. She had never spoke so much in one go before. It was kind of tiring.

“I don’t think you’ll be too happy when you hear this.” He raised an eyebrow in response, waiting for her to elaborate.

“Oh, but you have to promise not to blame him, okay? It’s not like he knew I was around anyways.” He shrugged and gave a curt nod. It wasn't really an 'okay I promise' since Kota never made pointless little promises like those. If he didn't have to repeat the information she was about to give him, he wouldn't willingly go spread it around.

The blonde listened quietly, leaning against the pole support of the swings with his hands stuffed in his pockets. This was the first time Xi talked about anything related her old house, other than the initial running away thing. He couldn't help but wonder if she was saying it because he practically forced her to or because she truly trusted him. He obviously hoped for the latter, though the former was entirely possible. If she did trust him with all her past, then that would make him feel a bit guilty. The black haired girl was never told anything about Kota's life, other than the fact that he was staying at the salon because of family drama. She never pushed, never asked for more information than that. A part of him was afraid his scars would scare this delicate, precious girl away.

“That’s it…”

He blinked, not realizing she had finished talking. Thank god he could think and listen at the same time. "And that's it end of story?" Because all that seemed a bit...vague. "So you basically just said that you would like to come here with a brother you don't even remember?" Wow, he just made a big deal out of nothing. "Your brother could be dead for all you know."
