bounty: alice--๔๏ฬภ tђє гค๒๒เt ђ๏lє--fye,shade,kier

After two other users had responded to the 'Alice' bounty as well, enough to form a respectable team, Fye had messaged them all, organizing a meeting time as well as a location--after they'd come to an agreement on the meeting area, Fye had contacted August, getting him to come over and shop-sit when night fell so that he could go out hunting.
Oddly enough, despite this target being a former Solstice member, she'd been noted flitting around the West District, not too far from his own shop--a little further inwards, closer to the Acropolis than he usually went, but he supposed that, with her ability, it was warranted. More targets to run to there.
He'd driven, parking in front of a skyscraper with a distinctively abstract piece of art in front of it as the sun dipped below the horizon, the statue their meeting place, the blond's hair braided and wrapped around his head, pinned up like a crown and tucked underneath a nondescript navy cap--less of a target. He locked his car, popping the trunk beforehand, and went to the back, fetching his sword as well as a few other items that would help them in their hopefully-short hunt, before crossing the pavilion to the statue, belting the saber onto his belt as he went, lighting up a preliminary cigarette as he waited for the other members of the team.

Shade had been surprised when her phone pinged with an incoming message requesting a meeting. Reading it, she nodded. It would certainly be a much more intelligent choice to work together. Even if it did cut down on the total monetary gain, at least she'd be more likely to live long enough to be able to cash in the bounty in the first place. Figuring out how far the rendezvous was, she nodded. Plenty of time for her to walk there, and she'd be able to see just who the hell she was going to be working with.
She wasn't all that thrilled with where the meeting would be - the odds of her uncle being there for whatever insane reason, even this late, were a bit higher than she was comfortable with - but there were plenty of spaces for her to duck into if she needed to. And some of the so-called 'art' in the area just confused her. How could what looked like a car put through a trash compactor possibly be considered art was beyond her.
Catching sight of the red ember of a cigarette, Shade paused studying the man smoking near the sculpture she had been studying. It was a little difficult to make out his profile from this distance, but she saw the hat and sword easily enough. Cautiously moving closer, her eyes narrowed in thought while she watched him.
"Here for Alice?" she called, just loud enough to carry the twenty feet or so to him.
She wasn't all that thrilled with where the meeting would be - the odds of her uncle being there for whatever insane reason, even this late, were a bit higher than she was comfortable with - but there were plenty of spaces for her to duck into if she needed to. And some of the so-called 'art' in the area just confused her. How could what looked like a car put through a trash compactor possibly be considered art was beyond her.
Catching sight of the red ember of a cigarette, Shade paused studying the man smoking near the sculpture she had been studying. Kier hadn't planned on taking the bounty alone, but he made no attempt to message the other two. He figured that they'd meet up at some point when the target appeared. A mentally unstable girl would undoubtedly make a huge commotion sooner or later.
While he decided to leave everything to chance, it seemed like this 'Fye' person was more cautious. His phone had pinged with a new message stating the location and time to meet. The set time was a bit late to be wandering around unfamiliar territory with a crazed Harbinger on the loose, but the place was near the bakery which he had yet to return to. Remembering the baker being a Harbinger, Kier wondered if 'Fye' was him. Wouldn't it be funny if the baker was after this bounty too?

"'Sup guys. I'm assuming we're all here for Alice?" he announced soon after Shade had called out. Stepping closer, he recognized the tall blonde as the baker. He laughed and said, "What a coincidence, I was just thinking about you. Not in that way, haha. Did you cut your hair?" His hair was significantly shorter than Kier remembered.

He turned at the scuff of feet nearby, almost supernaturally loud in the quiet that fell after the sun set--most people weren't out and about, wary of gang activity, so silence descended quickly and completely after nightfall. His eyes, pupils almost round with the lack of light, scanned across the polished black marble of the pavilion to stop at a familiar figure--and a familiar voice.
He groaned. B-rank missions were no places for kids--and yet here Shade was, looking at him like she was afraid he was going to bite her, another familiar, loud voice piping up behind her, and Fye bit down on the end of his cigarette, moving his hand to rub at his forehead, a bit of a scowl spreading across his face.
"Hello Shade. Hello Kier. And no, I didn't cut my hair--it's pinned away." He huffed out a breath, shifting his weight. Guess it was his job to be senior member of this parade, then. "You all read the notice, then? Know what we're up against?" Always good to ask--he didn't want to take chances with a Harbinger that could teleport, not to speak of one that was nuts.

When the figure turned toward Shade, she was able to see it was Fye. She smiled slightly at that and was about to greet him when another voice spoke up behind her. She winced and glowered - this person wasn't quite so welcome. She still wasn't sure what to think about the last time they had encountered one another.
Shooting a flat look at Kier, she skirted around Fye to place him in the middle of the three of them. Hearing his groan, she gave him an odd look, wondering if Kier gave him a headache too.
"Hello. And yes. Stephanie Williams, age 23, five murders, teleporter. Why do you think I didn't bring my boys?" she answered and asked, tilting her head. She wasn't sure, but he seemed annoyed. Or hungry. Probably annoyed though. Why wouldn't he have eaten if he was planning to hunt down a bounty?

Well, he didn't expect a groan of frustration from the older man. Maybe he was a bit too loud considering the situation.
"Stephanie Williams, age 23, five murders, teleporter," Shade from around Fye. Judging by the dead look she gave Kier, it was obvious she wasn't too happy about working with him. Their last encounter wasn't all that bad, but he he admitted that it could've gone smoother without the explosions.
"What Shade said," Kier responded in a significantly toned down voice. This was his normal tone, which sounded a little more than a whisper to his own ears but it was do-able. "And also that she carries a Butcher knife and looks like a classic Alice in Wonderland." Out of all the books he did not read, Lewis Carroll's story was one he actually liked. What a way to twist the plot.
"Just to give you guys a heads up, I've only recently started bounty hunting so sorry if I screw up. I'll try to keep the mistakes self inflicting as much as possible." That, and he almost got his neck sliced off in the last B-rank target he took on. This time would hopefully go better with three Harbingers and a veteran hunter.

The next sigh was less loud, through his nose this time, a long exhale of exasperated breath at Kier's statement--new at this, huh? Well at least he wasn't dead yet. He tossed a look over his shoulder at Shade behind him, then turned himself and backed up a few steps so that he was facing both of them, addressing the two at the same time.
"Teleporting bounties are difficult--sometimes they require some searching." He reached in his pocket for the walky-talkies he'd brought for the other two; they certainly weren't perfect, but they'd allow them to keep in touch while they had to look for 'Alice'--and then froze, his hand in his pocket, a noise coming to his ears.
Someone was singing.
Almost supernaturally loud in the quiet of the night city--a female's voice. High. Young, but not a child.
A patch of the polished marble pavilion several yards from the gathered three suddenly rippled like God had tossed a pebble into its calm surface.
Fye turned, hand darting from his pocket to the hilt of his sword, suddenly all alert, eyes fixed on the abberated area.
A girl crawled out of the ripples of material; blond hair matted to her head and stringy with grease, the tattered remains of a black bow clinging to her skull, pale skin smeared with dark smudges, she stared at the three with sunken eyes open wide enough to strain the edges, her irises a dizzying, constantly flickering spin of neon lights, and g r i n n e d, cracked lips stretching as they moved.
Fye inhaled sharply at the sight, one short breath.
A blaze of fire left his mouth with his exhale, an orb of fire that blazed bright in the dim light of the pavilion, and mad Alice slipped back into the mirrored surface with a high-pitched, unhinged giggle, Fye's attack smacking against the stone where she'd been, scattering points of light out across the stone. He cursed.
"Scratch that," Fye mumbled to the other two. "She found us."

Shade scowled lightly at how Fye just assumed she had no idea what she was doing. Yeah, this was her first B rank, but she had done this before. And while neither she nor Kier had the amount of experience she was sure Fye had, that didn't mean that they --

Catching sight of the ripple, she turned sharply toward it, watching with horrified fascination as a girl, this Alice, came crawling out of the marble, looking and moving like something out of a horror movie. And oh dear god, she wasn't sure she'd ever be able to laugh at one of them again now that she was apparently living through one.
Judging by that grin, Alice here would be just as happy to sink her teeth into their throats as she would be to get that knife of hers into the rest of them. Her eyes were almost hypnotic too.
Startled by Fye's use of power, Shade snapped out of it and readied her own weapon.
"Scratch that. She found us."
Shooting a look at Fye that just screamed 'thanks for stating the obvious', Shade spoke up. "Well, so much for shattering anything nearby she could have used. Though, out of curiosity, why the hell didn't we think that meeting somewhere that the ground is reflective was going to be a bad idea?!" she snarled, sarcasm coming to the fore as she turned to put her back to her current partners, stepping back so that she was only a foot or so away. Eyes scanning the area, especially the ground, for any indication of their target, Shade spared a moment to think that it was a good thing she had plenty of experience working in a trio. Now if only she knew more about these two. Though, someone was probably going to die anyway.
She just hoped it was the Red Queen against them.

Creepy singing aside, target 'Alice' was plenty horrifying in appearance, from her pasty skin and blood stained dress to swirly, hypnotizing eyes. He almost couldn't look away from them, almost because Fye smashed the marble she had liquefied out of. Her voice rang in every direction. Kier nearly forgot to prepare but realized his weapons should be out. Dammit, this was no time to be getting distracted.
Shade was yelling at the blonde, every word dripping with sarcasm. For once, he wasn't the loudest one of the bunch. "You don't think we should be a little quieter?" he snapped unintentionally. What the hell was wrong with him, this on-edge thing wasn't a familiar feeling.
A giggle escaped from beneath their feet, eerily close, just before 'Alice' resurfaced in the space between the trio's back in a spinning motion, butcher knife held out at arm's length. He barely reacted as the tip of the knife nicked his ankle. Taking a step forward, his hood was slashed, but he kept his momentum and swung at the deranged girl when the spinning slowed.
The force of both the punch and the spin knocked her into a crumpled pile with her limbs askew in impossible directions. Her eyes, her mother-fucking eyes, kept watching him, even as her smile turned upside-down into a toothy frown. A foreign feeling passed through his body. He tried to blink it away, like he'd done so many times before, but it would not disappear. His teeth grit when he realized that 'Alice' was gone again.

Ah. Now that was more like it.
If only the kids weren't here, then Fye could have really s m i l e d--a toothy grin that probably bore more than a passing resemblance to the one on mad little Alice's face--because this, this is what he lived for. Running the bakery, that was alright, but hunting.... there was nothing like the thrill of a chase.
If he hadn't promised himself that he'd never join a gang again, he would have been waist-deep in illegal activity by now, subsumed in the underground by the illicit thrill of a mission. But promises were promises, and his life now wasn't so bad--there were certainly worse things he could be doing.
Fye slid his feet on the polished marble, stabilizing himself for a quick movement, eyes darting across the surface, searching for the tell-tale ripples of Alice's passing, when the voice came again from behind the three of them, sending Fye whirling around.
Kier was first blood, Alice's knife taking out a nick from his leg; the blond drew his sword as an extension of his turning movement, holding it vertical-upright to deflect his angle of the girl's attack, flinching to the side a second later as Kier's attack sent her flying to the ground, legs and arms askew against the dark stone, her wide grin flickering into a crazed, toothy frown, and she screeched, melding back into the ground.
Fye flicked his blade out to the side, open but still on the defense, eyes darting about the pavilion to try to spot the telltale ripples of Alice's passing, taking a peremptory breath--
He lept upwards like a startled cat as Alice emerged right underneath his feet, her hands shooting up out of the rock and just missing his feet; Fye aimed downwards and breathed fire, heat pluming out and engulfing his ankles but scorching the girl's fingers--she screeched, unearthly and loud enough to make the windows of his car rattle in their cases, diving back into the ground, Fye landing where she'd been a second later.

This is insane! How the hell are we supposed to catch someone who can disappear into the damn ground?!
Shade hissed out a breath through clenched teeth, barely dodging Alice's blitz attack by diving to the side, choking back a scream of pain in the process as the knife dug deep into her left thigh. Taking a quick glance around, her hand dropped to the wound as she pushed back to her feet, her hand growing slick with blood already. If she didn’t do something quick, the blood loss would get to her, and she wasn’t willing to risk distracting either of the men. She thought she'd be able to handle this fine, that she'd be a help, but instead she seemed to be a liability. It was something that she hated. And on the rare occasions she truly hated something, she got angry. And she knew that she couldn’t risk Alice appearing too close again. Not under her feet like had just happened with Fye.
It was with that thought that Shade pooled energy again, raising the gathered shadows above her head with a hand before dropping it back down, letting the dense mass slam into the ground, shattering the marble around her several feet in each direction.
That taken care of, she turned her attention toward another problem: that stupid ripple which was so hard to pick out at times. How the hell were they supposed to keep track of her - especially now that Shade’s mobility was hindered? Growling out a soft curse, her hand darted up and yanked her goggles down, letting them land against her collarbone.
Now, so long as Fye didn’t accidentally blind her.
Shade hissed out a breath through clenched teeth, barely dodging Alice's blitz attack by diving to the side, choking back a scream of pain in the process as the knife dug deep into her left thigh. Taking a quick glance around, her hand dropped to the wound as she pushed back to her feet, her hand growing slick with blood already. If she didn’t do something quick, the blood loss would get to her, and she wasn’t willing to risk distracting either of the men. Kier didn't like being a hindrance, especially in a such a life-or-death situation. This small cut on his ankle wasn't really a problem but the fact that he just could. Not. Focus. There wasn't a damn reason he could think of that would explain this. Was he just scared? Scared of a little girl who thought she could follow the rabbit to Wonderland?
Ridiculous. Weak. You are weak. Can't even kill one girl who doesn't have half the mind you do. Yeah, Lenah would say that to him. She'd mock him and mock him until he could stand and fight and win.
The standing part already done, he watched Fye go after 'Alice' relentlessly, blood lust and a true love for fight shone clearly in his eyes. He was so strong, and yet he was only a baker. He would've made a valuable gang member if he wasn't already one.
A plume of flames engulfed the rippled area right before the girl emerged out of the marble with a piercing cry. The scent of burnt flesh hit the air as she freaked out over her charred fingers, eyes darting wildly as if she did not know why it was in so much pain. She dove back into the ground and set her next target to the other male, practically flying into Kier's face, clawing for his eyes. Her gangly legs wrapped around his torso while her fingers worked to tear the skin off cheeks. Her blackened fingers no longer held the butcher knife, although it was nowhere on the ground.
Guess it was time to fight.
Gripping the psychotic girl's waist, Kier sent a shock through her thin dress. 'Alice' jolted wildly before freezing with her muscles tensed and her neck at a ninety degree angle. The left eye twitched but did not break eye contact with the orange to blue ones.
He peeled her off quickly and pitched her. Right at Shade. Shit.

Whoops. Well. Fye squinted, pupils catslitting again as Alice got a stranglehold on Kier, sticking to him like a leech, the red-head retaliating with a burst of electricity, the arcs flaring out across the girl, sending her screeching, and licking out like lightning bolts, hitting the surface of the pavilion to scorch tiny impact marks on the stone; the next second, Kier had her dislodged and boldly threw the girl off of him--aimed right at Shade.
Fye changed the direction he was running in, having taken off the second he'd hit the stone again for where Alice had surfaced, intending to slash her off of Kier, but the blond altered his plan in a split second, instead yanking his scabbard out of his belt, taking a preparatory breath and then a little for extra smoke, and flinging the hard leather-covered-wood cover at Alice.
It spun end over end through the air and hit her in the shoulder with a solid sound of impact, the force enough to alter her course so she'd not land directly on Shade, and Fye spat out a fireball the second after the throw, the blaze of fire trailing smoky tendrils--not at Alice, but rather at the spot she was going to land, the projectile splattering into the stone and cracking it with hairline fractures, the result of the sudden change in temperature from the cool of the night and the flame breaking the surface, the smoke clouding its reflective shine.
Alice hit the ground on her side with a squeal of protest, rolling to her front after a dazed blink or two to try to run, and Fye pounced, letting go of his saber, to land one knee in the center of her back, pushing the breath out of her, one hand seizing her flopping arms, the other cuffing them behind her back with the ease of long practice, and then the blond quickly yanked her up off of the cloudy marble by her arms, throwing her over his shoulder, putting her a good six feet and a half away from the ground and any other reflective surfaces that she could have used.
She kicked her legs, and Fye just sighed. "It's your bedtime, Alice. Go to sleep. You can explore Wonderland later."
"Yep."
She fell silent. Fye smiled, and then turned to the others. "Best to walk. You all coming?"

Shade's eyes widened at the psychopath flying at her. Reflexively pulling up some energy to knock Alice away, she had a second to blink as the woman's trajectory was changed by Fye's scabbard (Just how strong was he?) before the light from his fireball went straight through her eyes and dug into the back of her skull, causing her to cry out in pain.
Vision gone, she twisted and hunched in on herself, dropping into a crouch as she moved. Covering her head with her arms, her power reacted to her fear over not being able to see or defend herself and wrapped around her in a dark globe. She put her googles back on, listening to the commotion and screeching and not able to act for worry of hitting one of the men and just hating every moment of it.
It was several long moments, enough time for Fye to handcuff Alice, before she let the power fade and chanced looking around. Her eyes still hurt, but she was able to see again. Barely.
Unable to stop it, her jaw tightened and her hands clenched into fists as she pushed to her feet again, disregarding how her leg trembled and nearly buckled instead forcing it to straighten by adding just a little more of her energy to the wrapping she had created. Once she was steadied, she let that extra fade back into what she had originally used.
Staring at the ground, she gave a tense nod at Fye's question. While she had been no help whatsoever, that didn't mean she was going to bail either. She'd just have to ignore the pain in her leg and limp along, hiding it as best as she could and staying silent over it. She'd worry about it later.

It only took Fye five minutes to capture and subdue the psychotic girl. In the next few seconds he had even gotten 'Alice' to heel. His strength, his calm, and his intellect; Kier would be lying if he said he wasn't jealous of the blonde's superior abilities.
He bit his tongue at his own stupidity for both freezing up and not thinking. Had he taken this bounty alone, the chances that he'd survive would have been close to zero. No. I would have died tonight. I never would've thought of dealing with any person like that. Fye was fierce in battle, and maybe even a bit kind. He probably could have killed 'Alice' if he really wanted to. All the confidence he felt earlier was gone.
Kier nodded stiffly in answer to Fye's question and followed. Walking behind the older man, he could see 'Alice' sleeping peacefully, unaware that the police would put her in a straightjacket real soon. When she wasn't trying to remove his head for the Queen, the girl looked a lot like a child, surely younger than her actual age. The blond hair framing her face reminded him of his sister's similar appearance.
What's wrong with me today? First Lenah and now Sis.

Out of their trio, it looked like she was the worst off. Fye barely had any injuries and there was only a few on himself. Before he could offer a hand, the police station came into view.

Alice was out, soundly asleep on his shoulder; the police department was only a few blocks away, lucky him (he gave himself a mental congratulatory pat on his back for picking that place as their meeting-area). Now he just needed a little bit more luck--
Excellent. Fye shouldered through the door, holding it open with one hand for the kids trailing him, and gave the lady officer at the front desk a smile. "Hey Bernadette~ Working late again?"
"That's Officer Jones to you, you lizard." She mollified the sting with a smile, brown eyes glancing over the small assembled group. "And who's the one you brought in tonight?"
"Stephanie Williams, alias: Alice. Alive. Better find a padded room for her though. Someplace quiet."
Bernadette nodded, tapping a few keys on the computer on her desk, then standing. "Come with me then--we'll get her settled, fill out your paperwork, and give you your pay. Paper credits?"
"Of course." He turned to look over his shoulder, nodding at the chairs placed out for people to wait on. "Stay here. I'll be back."

Shade bit her lip as they made their way up the short flight of stairs that led to the station's doors. The walk had done nothing but aggravate her leg and these stairs just made it worse. Once inside, she only half-listened to Fye's exchange with the officer, focusing more on altering the shadows around her leg so that they blended in with her pants even with how well-lit the building was. For once, she was happy that the majority of her clothes were black.
"Stay here. I'll be back."
At Fye's statement, she nodded and moved to the chair, forcing herself to walk normally. It'd be a lot harder to hide the limp in here than it was outside. Gingerly lowering herself into one, she sighed softly in relief. That felt so much better than standing. Momentarily resting her head back against the wall, she realized that if anyone bothered to pay attention to her, they'd see how she was even paler than normal. With that in mind, she leaned forward again, resting her arms just above her knees, being careful to avoid her wound as she tugged her hood up again.
She really hoped that they'd be on their way soon. She was starting to feel sick and weak, nausea rolling through her stomach and her skin was alternating between hot and cold. She wasn't sure how much longer she'd be able to force herself to keep moving, but she knew that she couldn't let herself stop here. They'd insist on taking her to a hospital and there was no way she'd allow that to happen.

The inside of the station was brightly lit compared to outside. Judging by the way the officer spoke with Fye, it seemed clear that this was probably one of the many bounties he's brought in. As Fye and the officer left with 'Alice', Kier watched Shade half collapse into a chair. Slight black tendrils were flicking subtly around her ankle before tightening and disappearing. It took him a moment to register that they were probably shadows creating a makeshift brace. Shadows aside, Shade herself looked feverish.
Next to the officer's desk, there was a tall water machine. Kier walked over and dispensed cool water into the supplied paper cup. Was he supposed to get warm water? Well, water is water.
"You don't look so hot," he said, offering the cup to her. Crouching down, he gingerly touched her leg, curious about her mutation. All he knew was that they were shadows. He decided to wait for a better time to ask her about, considering how well that turned out for him the first time and Shade didn't look like she was in any condition for a chat. "I can carry you to the hospital later if you want." The injury wasn't his fault, but he felt a bit guilty for throwing a psychotic girl at an ally. Knowing Shade, thought, she probably didn't want his help.
He stood up and leaned against the wall next to her. Fye was sure taking his sweet time. A sigh. Hopefully 'Alice' was nice and comfortable in a straight-jacket with all those joyous sharp objects far from her reach.

Fye and Bernadette chatted all throughout the procedure; this was one of the closest police stations to the blond's bakery, so when hunting bounties in the area, this often ended up the place to deposit them. He'd met Bernadette four years ago, when the female officer had been transferred to this area--first in the station, then in the bakery. She didn't discriminate against Harbingers, respected the unspoken rules of the Emberwheat, and was decent company.
By one of the desks inside, Bernadette counted out paper credits, Alice safely constrained and shut up in a special padded room designed for containment of Harbingers--she'd be transported out first thing in the morning to a mental hospital on the edge of the city--and remarked to Fye as she flicked through notes, "They're a bit younger than the people you usually hunt with. Training them?"
Fye snorted. "Hardly. Met them via the Bulletin. Didn't know how old they were until we got there."
"You finish that paperwork yet?"
"Patience."
She laughed, sliding his money into a paper envelope, holding onto it until Fye handed over the clipboard and forms he'd been working on; she glanced over the words and raised an eyebrow. "That pavilion's gonna be a pain to repair." She gave him a sly, sideways glance. "I know you're not strong enough to bust up all that marble, big guy. Was it the redhead?"
"I was sloppy. Accidents happen," he replied blandly.
"Shoulda got them to file the damage report." She signed off on it despite her words, handing him the envelope. "Stay in one piece, Fye. See you later."
He accepted the envelope of cash with a smile and a nod, turning to make his familiar way out of the station until he emerged out into the front lobby again, stopping and looking at the two with an eyebrow raised. "Shall we split the money now?"

Shade twitched in surprise when the paper cup appeared in front of her. Blinking, she accepted it and took a sip. She hadn't noticed how warm she was feeling, aside from the hot flashes that is.
"Thanks," she murmured, watching Kier crouch in front of her and wondering what he was doing. When his fingertips rested on her leg, no matter how lightly, she couldn't suppress a gasp at the jolt of pain and bit her lip. Strengthening her shadows enough that she wouldn't be able to feel anything through them again, a thread of the inky material wrapped lightly around his finger and broke when he pulled away.
Shaking her head at his offer, Shade was thankful to see that none of her blood had gotten through just yet. "No, no hospitals. I... I can't risk it," she added, hoping that the bit of weakness she heard was due to the shock of pain just now and not because she was reaching the end of her reserves. She looked down again when he stood to lean against the wall. "Maybe... I think I might need some help getting home though," she offered in response since he seemed like he really did want to help her.
"Shall we split the money now?"

Can't risk what? He didn't ask his question outloud, not wanting to agitate an injured person. Well, Kier wouldn't have wanted to go to a hospital if he was in her position. Too many unnecessay legal issues and hassles there. And Shade seemed a little, afraid? Of going there.
"Maybe... I think I might need some help getting home though," she said right before Fye walked back in.
"Shall we split the money now?" Kier nodded once and pushed off the wall. He watched Shade struggle towards the doors, the pain obviously bothering her to the point that she couldn't hide it anymore. Pushing the door open for the girl, he looked back at Fye before stepping outside himself.
With the money split at an almost even 333 credits, Kier felt undeserving of the taking so much. Not only did he not help, but he was distracted and thinking about pointless things. And let's not forget that I flung the target at Shade... Ugh, on the other hand he needed the money to get that faucet fixed properly.
"Well, this was fun," he remarked sarcastically. "Not sure when I'm going to be able to get that kid out of my head, haha. In any case, I'll be taking the metro back now." He gave Fye a grin before turning to Shade and lifting her over his shoulder the same way the blonde had hefted 'Alice'. She wasn't that heavy, and it'd be faster than supporting her all the way to the station, which wasn't all that far. "Since you're going the same way, might as well do it this way."

He moved to follow both of them out, turning his head at the scrape of the chair behind him, giving Officer Bernadette a farewell nod as she settled down behind her desk, and trailing after the both of them to stand just outside the door. Idly, he hoped that his sword hadn't been stolen.
"An even split, then." Truth be told, he'd noticed Shade's injury earlier; if nothing else, the scent of hot iron had given it away, but he figured she had reasons for hiding it--she hadn't passed out yet or anything. Must have some sort of mechanism for dealing with it. The blond licked the side of his thumb, opening the envelope and counting out three hundred and thirty-three credits twice, separating them out and handing a stack of bills to each of the two.
Fye nodded at Kier's words as he tucked the envelope into his inside coat pocket, then raised an eyebrow as the redhead snagged Shade around the waist, throwing her over his shoulder. Well. That was unexpected.

Guess they must have had a hell of a heart-to-heart while he'd been taking care of paperwork.
"Have fun then," he said mildly. "Safe journey."
And with a final nod, he turned and started off back down the sidewalk, making his way back to the battle site.

Shade nodded at Kier for getting the door, it was just more coordination than she really wanted to try managing now, and wasn't that pathetic? She was not relishing the idea of walking back home, Metro or no Metro. Which she'd definitely be taking, all things considered. She also hesitated in accepting the money - it wasn't like she had done anything at all, other than nearly die.
Sighing, she accepted and pocketed the money, mentally kicking herself all the while. She had gotten overconfident and it would have gotten her killed if not for Fye. She should really think of some way to thank him for that. After all, it was best that she learn that lesson early on, before she got someone else killed. And, as much as it made her sound like some macho guy, she was going to let this heal the long way so she'd have the scar as a reminder.
There was no way she'd be able to avoid Kier grabbing her with her leg the way it was, not that she expected for him to toss her over a shoulder. Her yelp of surprise turned to pain as her leg knocked against his chest. Fuck that hurt.
Biting her lip again so she didn't humiliate herself by crying, she thumped Kier's back with her fist. "Dammit, I can walk!" Not very well, granted, but still. It was the principle of the matter. And Fye was no help whatsoever, walking away like that. She sighed and let her head fall, resting her forehead against Kier's back. This already sucked, but it did help a little, not that she'd let him know that since however much it helped her leg, it didn't help her head or stomach.
"Don't complain if I puke on you."
