Re: Talking to Ghosts -- Trace, Shade (complete)
Okay, things had definitely taken a turn for the weird without warning when all this mushy friend stuff just started popping up out of nowhere. But Trace was thankful for the quick reprieve as she took the call. He was definitely not complaining about the little break, and he was felt like the world was slowly regaining its usual (distorted) sense of normalcy, when she took his arm and pulled a pen out of her pocket.
He tilted his head, furrowing his eyebrows as she wrote her number on his skin. He looked at the number intently, then up at her, just ending the call.
She said a quick bye, obviously rushed for time, and he prepared to return it.
That was when she kissed him on the cheek. If he'd thought the hug was Atlantis-level shocking, this was aliens on Mars-level at the very least. Maybe even life is all just a dream and you wake up when you die-level. To think he'd just been in the process of visiting his deceased sister in a very distinct brotherly and responsible way, and now there was a girl kissing him on a cheek. It wasn't even the fact that a girl was kissing him on the cheek--the idea of anyone kissing him on the cheek was a strange thought. He gaped.
All those years of devout religious instruction on abstinence to lose his innocence on holy ground on a day like this? He wasn't going to Heaven for sure.
Nah, as if.
It really wasn't that big of a deal. Except it kinda was, because jeez, people kissing him on the cheek? What a weird thought.
Finally breaking out of his reverie, he turned to see Shade, but by that point she was already far down the path, nearly at the entrance gate.
She's a strange one, he thought. But then, so am I.
