--South District. We are now arriving in the South District.

Kota woke up, lifting his head from the worn seat behind him. It took him a moment to realize that he should get off the train before the doors closed on him. He made it through the door at the last second and felt a sharp pang in his head. That's what happens when you wake up and sprint. He had not meant to fall asleep on the metro of all places but Caius had kept him up yesterday to finish the goddamn homework that he wasn't going to turn in.

And what could a good fifteen year old high schooler be doing on this fine Wednesday you ask? Why he was going to go see Ievan of course. That's the only reason he'd be in the South. The last time he saw the duo-toned gerbil was that night he got attacked by a pedophile and healed by that pretty doctor. Okay, that sounded gay. Don't get him wrong, Trevor was girl-pretty, and would make a wonderful model if he took more care in his appearance (read: C L O T H E S).

A small drop landed in one green-silver eye when he stepped up from the stairs. Great, it was raining. He hated rain so much. It was the one weather he wished didn't exist, next to hot humidity. There was just an off-setting feeling of being soaked in water that was probably filthy. Cursing under his breath, he pulled up the hood of the navy blue jacket he was wearing. At least he dressed warm today.

The moment Xiana stepped out onto the South districts wet platform, she realized she made the wrong decision. Maybe even the worst decision he ever made in her 16 years of living. It wasn't like Xiana didn't trust him. Oh no, it was nothing like that. The girl was just curious or at least that's what she kept telling herself.

The gray clouds in the sky began to drop giant droplets of rain onto her head. Xiana pulled her pink jackets hood over her head and scoured the nearby area for Kota. She felt sort of horrible for following him, not believing him, but the thought of Kota with another girl mad her heart sting. Xiana wasn't exactly sure what it was that she was feeling. She hoped that after seeing Kota with whoever he was meeting with would reassure heart.

Catching sight of a navy blue hoodie, she rushed to catch up to it, but still keeping an area of distance. Xiana too a deep breath of the cold and wet air. She wasn't use to running or even overexerting herself. She quickly head hid behind the wall when she realized Kota had stopped walking and proceeded inside a store, more precisely, a pet store.

Maybe she had a pet, Xiana thought trying to calm down. She closed he eyes, but the conversation they had that day kept replaying in her mind no matter how much she tried to push it out.

"You're going out on wednesday?" The girl asked while rearranging the art shops paint tubes by color. Business was slow on Monday mornings and being homeschooled meant she could work on these not so busy days.

"Yeah, I'm going to see someone." Kota, who was sitting by the cash register, had replied. Xiana nodded, not really paying attention. The girl was too busy trying to figure out whether to put cyan or aqua down first.

"Sounds fun," she said, deciding on the aqua.

"She's really cute," Kota stated. Xiana's ear perked up. She wasn't sure how to respond. She felt her stomach drop.

"Ouch," Xiana gasped, grasping her heart. She was so confused. Her heart hurt, yet nothing was physically wrong with her body (obviously she'd be dead already if there was). Her emotions felt all jumbled up. Xiana, snapping back from memory lane, turned towards the pet shop, and waited patiently in the rain for that familiar face to reappear.

This rainy, gray day seemed to be keeping most people off the street. Ina way that was good, less people, less groping of his ass. He already got a bit of that on the metro. And as much as he would have liked to brutally murder their hand with some sharp and pointing thing, he didn't want to cause any trouble that would involve the police. Police -> law -> hag -> death. More or less in that order.

Even with the streets empty, Kota flicked his gaze to passing dark alleys to make sure a sicko wasn't waiting to jump him. The glance was a fleeting one, since the blonde didn't want to see what else went on in the confines of said alleys. He couldn't, though, shake the feeling that he was being tailed. Obviously, he did not turn around and give the possible stalker an idea they were caught. That could lead to all sorts of dangerous and censored scenarios. He wouldn't be kidding if he told you that he had been almost kidnapped on multiple occasions for just taking a fucking walk in the South.

Acting oblivious to the stalker, Kota continued on his way to the pet store. Ievan could probably use new food and Trevor was probably a little tight on money. So was he but he could spare some for the gerbil. It was easy to work extra hours to earn back that money. Caius would actually be happy about that since, at the moment, his work hours were less than the part-timers. And plus, he owed the guy for healing and board.

Entering the small pet store, the scent of animal; fur mixed with cheap floral air freshener hit his nose, making him choke a bit. The inside was a rundown with peeling paint and all. There weren't many animals here other than gerbils, cats, dogs, fish, and the usual variety. Not that the store had a lot space for more, if you included how much space the food sacks and cages took up. Kota grabbed a small package of gerbil food, "EXTRA NUTRIENTS AND PRESERVED FRUITS" it read in blocky red letters across the plain brown bag. It looked cheap but the rodent back at the salon ate this brand, so it couldn't be all that bad. He guessed Ievan probably wasn't picky.

After paying at the front register, Kota stepped back out into the rain, still feeling like there was a person lurking in the shadows behind him. He was having a hard time not running but that would give the stalker an initiative to chase. And god know if said stalker enjoyed chasing. He shivered at the thought of the fetish. He hoped that he could reach Trevor's clinic soon. Not only was the pursuer starting to really bug him but the sky was taking a step towards a thunderstorm. They didn't scare him. They just usually meant harder, nastier rain.

The idea of thunderstorms trailed Kota's thoughts back to Xiana. She was absolutely terrified of the clapping. Ironically she could scream just as loud. He wondered how she was doing. Back at home she had people to help her get through the storm. But their last meeting had ended on an awkward note. The black-haired girl had seem a little down when he left after telling her his plans for this day. Was it something he said?

Kota had appeared holding a bag with some animal related thing for the girl he was probably meeting with. Xiana wanted very badly to just run up to him and apologize for what she was doing, but at the same time, she wouldn't know what to do if Kota was angry at her. That was the last thing she wanted. She couldn't recall a time where Kota and her had ever gotten into a fight or an argument in general. Both of them usually just... well, agreed with each other.

Xiana began to think. She barely knew anything about Kota's feelings or past. Most of it was never brought up. She wasn't going to pry, of course not. She wasn't that sort of person though it would make her feel more apart of his life if she did. Xiana sighed and stopped right in time to avoid slamming into a pillar in front of her. She peeked out from behind the pillar. It was clear to her that Kota already reached his destination which meant that she couldn’t get any closer to them. Damp and tired, the girl turned around and saw a white flash in the shape of the bolt fly through the clouds.

Following immediately after the first strike of lightning was an ear splitting wail. One would be correct to call it the equivalent of a banshee. Reflexively, Kota slapped his hands over his ears, the bag of food rustling and splattering with droplets of rain. It felt like his insides were vibrating from the seer magnitude of the scream. It was just so. Fucking. Loud.

But the feeling was familiar. The low hum of his organs in response to this high pitch. Only one person he knew could reach such a volume and beyond. Whipping he head around to scan the area, he called out, to her. If she was here it was bad with his stalker still around. But he was having trouble keep his thoughts focused long enough to search properly. The wail was starting to give him a headache too, and the rain was not helping. The buildings around were starting to rumble, and the sheer power of the girl's voice was probably the only thing keeping people from running out and complaining.

Then he spotted the black-haired girl right behind a thin pillar, crouched down and screaming with tears streaking down her cheeks. Oh, God she really was here.

Kota's first priority wasn't to wonder why in the hell Xi was out in the South but calming her down. She was absolutely terrified of lighting, granted he never asked why but he knew was that she couldn't handle it well at all. "XIANA!"

Rushing to her side, another man got there first. His eyes widened but didn't slow down even with the fear growing in his chest. Fuckfuckfuck that's the stalker. He's going to hurt Xi. Maybe it wasn't me he was following at all but Xi. What the hell can I do? Will I even make it time? He let one hand slide into his pocket for his scissors. Fuck messing them up, Xi was more important than the sharp pair of metal.

She hated it. It brought out all the bad memories she wished would just disappear from her mind. It always came back, mocking her, maybe. Xiana had automatically fell to the floor, covered her ears, and screeched as a reflect from the lightening that flashed before her. The girl felt suffocated as if the world was sitting on top of her, crushing her. Her head was spinning and she couldn't breathe properly.

"Xiana," a soft voice whispered on her ear, "it's going to be okay." The familiar scent of earl gray mixed with the rain. His hand stroked her hair softly as he pulled her into a warm embrace. "Calm down, I'm here. I'm right here."

Everything felt so hazy like she was dreaming. She was almost sure Eden was right in front of her, but at the same time it was impossible. She hadn't seem him for at least 3 years now. Her arms reached out to grab a hold of him. He was there, he was really there. More tears streamed down her face.

"Eden?" she whispered when her screams died down. Her hand reached out and brushed against his cheek, "is that you?" It was a rhetorical question, really. He placed his hand over hers and smiled. That familiar smile that she had grown to love over the year they met. His hazel eyes and black hair was just how she remembered years ago. She allowed herself to relax against him as she tried to calm her breathing, but seeing Eden did not reassure her completely. Xiana quickly tried to scramble up, losing her balance, but Eden had grasped her waist from behind before she had a chance to face plant the floor.

"Kota," Xiana voice shook, "Where's Kota? Oh no, what have I done?" She cried as she burrows her face into her hands. If he was even hurt a little, she wouldn't be able to forgive herself.

And as soon as the panic had slid in, it slid out when he saw the girl ease into the older man. In it's place though was a strange slew of hurt and confusion and a bit of jealousy. He slowed to a stop a good ten feet from the couple, scissors casually returning to his pocket as if he never whipped them out. Who was this guy? What did he have to do with Xi? Why does she look like she trusts him completely? Why couldn't he be the one there?

The girl's screams gradually dispersed, leaving behind only a faint ringing and her sobs and the pitter pat of the rain. The wetness was seeping through his hoodie, but he didn't mind the cold. He felt cold enough inside. Green eyes watched blankly as the man caught the other around the waist. But it wasn't until she started crying again that he closed the gap. His shifted automatically away from the blank face, presenting the angelic one.

"Xi? What are you doing here? Why are crying?" he asked, in a pleasantly concerned tone. But it lacked the feeling he would normally have in anything regarding Xi. But nobody could see that, maybe except Xi herself, though she didn't seem to be entirely paying attention. Inside, he wanted to take her in his arms but he didn't let any of that on as he continued. "Are you her friend? Thanks so much for calming her down earlier." A beautiful smile. "We should get some cover before all of us catch a cold. That would suck."

The blonde spun on his heel and started towards the bag he had dropped in front of the store, humming a cheerful tune along the way. Hands in pockets, he leaned his back against the store wall, waiting for the pair to follow. He was sure the other guy could calm Xi down again just fine.
