Stepping out from her house, Roca paused to drink in the view of the rich violet sky gradually brightening with the rise of the morning sun. A soft wind arose along with the fragile melody of birds in the distance. Unlike the rest of the day, the heavy noise of traffic and riotous activities of the residents were muted at the crack of dawn. The environment emitted a peaceful aura which had almost lured Roca into relaxing in that spot for the rest of the morning. She stayed for another minute until she forced herself to rebuild her composure and began to walk downtown by routine. Even though it was still summer, the mornings here were slightly chilly and Roca wrapped her cotton sweater tighter around her body.

Scanning the street, Roca stepped down from a curb as she neared the business district. A lone black dog shuffled to a nearby dumpster as Roca crossed the street nearby the florist shop she owned. She strode into a lonely alley and navigated through the plethora of puddles which never really seemed to evaporate and arrived at a large door. The jangling of keys broke the silence in the alley as the young woman unlocked the heavy back entrance. The City’s sharp scents were immediately replaced by a fresh fragrance when the shop’s steel door croaked open.

That’s more like it.

After setting up shop, it was already six ‘o clock and vehicles had began their daily commute. The soft hum of cars rumbling across the dulled gravel could be heard from inside the shop. The florist shop was not too grand; it was simple and clean but the paint on the walls had started to peel somewhat. There was not a large variety of furniture in the store besides the sturdy wooden counter where the credit register was stationed and many flower bins located around the room. Roca had just finished taking some of the flowers out from their coolers and placed them out for display. This was one of her favorite tasks to do in the florist shop. She enjoyed arranging and observing the flowers in the morning because they looked as if they were being awoken from their cold slumber as they basked in the early sun. After adjusting a couple of flowers, Roca tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear and began preparing customers’ orders for the day.

Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier] Empty Re: Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier]

Post by Xiana Sat Sep 15, 2012 3:26 pm

Xiana was enjoying her breakfast of toast and cocopuff cereal when she realized she had the day off from work. She glanced at the clock that stated it was almost 8. She poured out another bowl of cereal when a little tomogachi brand toy fell out into her bowl. She smiled, at least her day was starting out bright.

She wanted some company, but at the same time, she didn't want to wake Kota so early in the morning and he was probably going to be busy with the salon later in the afternoon. Xiana grabbed her coat from her closet and decided to go for a stroll.

The morning air was crisp and clean leaving her feeling refreshed. She took a deep breathe, choose a direction, and walked. The passing scenery soon began to change and Xiana took no note of it. She just wanted to enjoy the moment. It took her about 30 minutes before she realized she was lost.

Xiana stumbled down the road, hoping to find someone nice enough to help her.
What am I going to do? What am I going to do? What if- what if I never get back home? Tears formed in the young girls eyes, sniffling, she wiped them away with the back of her hands and caught sight of a bright pink flower.

She walked up to the floral shop it was placed outside of and gasped at the beauty of it. Its petals were soft like velvet and the morning dewdrops made it shimmer in the rising sun.

“Hey there, little lady,” a voice cut through her thoughts. Xiana turned to face a man, tall and plump. He smiled with his mouth open, showing a gap between his middle teeth.

“Good morning.” She whispered.

“How are you doing this fine morning?”
“I’m a little lost…” She probably shouldn’t be telling the man all this. Xiana couldn’t even count how many times Kota had stressed over the fact that she should never, ever, EVER, talk to strangers.

"Don't talk to strange people. Namely guys. That are bigger than you. Just. Don't." He had said to her. If I don’t get home now, I’ll never be able to see Kota again.

“How about you come with me and I’ll take you home.” He held a hand out to her and she took it. Kota would understand… She hoped.

Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier] Empty Re: Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier]

Post by Kier Sat Sep 15, 2012 5:54 pm

Kier had woken up early this morning to take the metro to the North. Even though it was already eight, the weather outside looked a bit chilly and gloomy. What a fitting atmosphere for the day. It was annoying how the weather was like this every year on this day, even the actual day it had happened; the day he had made his first kill.

Leaning his head against the window, he let the memories flood back little by little. The alley, the alcohol, the man, that woman, and him- angry, childish, and utterly stupid. He remembered what that woman had said to him, her voice and laughter that humiliated him and pushed him to murder an innocent man. And for what? Pouring some vodka on his head when Kier was the one who started the fight? Ridiculous. Back then he was such a bastard, such a kid that thought he was too good for the world. He had hated life but more than anything he hated that he wasn't as strong as he believed he should've been.

That woman being there, Lenah, she opened his eyes and showed him how weak he was. She broke him apart and rebuilt him up in the next two years. Their relationship had been blood, sweat, and tears- mostly on his part. He despised the woman for what she made him do, but in a way he wanted their relationship to be more... intimate. The attraction he felt to her couldn't be ignored, though at the same time he wanted to rip her apart like that poor man. The poor man this whole trip was for.

Trust, Kier would never willingly go to the North no matter how bored he was. There was too much of a risk going back there. For all he knew, he could run into his family. It didn't help that the very place he was going was only a fifteen minute walk from his old home. Yeah, he checked once. The first time he came back with Lenah. He wanted to check up on his sister but he hadn't made it past the front gate when he turned and ran away. Lenah had laughed at him for that.

A good thirty minutes had passed by the time the blue line slid to a stop, the wheels of the train screeching as the breaks were hit. Pushing himself off the seat, Kier exited through the sliding doors.

Kier had memorized the way to his destination, having gone there for at least five years. And also because he didn't want to risk getting lost and staying too long.

The familiar floral store came into view with it's slightly worn sign that he never bothered to read. In front of the store, was a little girl, frail and petite, being hit on by porky man. Kier only spared them a momentary glance before continuing to the store. On a good day, he wouldn't feel obligated to help a stranger, so obviously he wouldn't help on a bad day.

Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier] Empty Re: Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier]

Post by Roca Wed Sep 19, 2012 2:08 am

In the midst of restocking the floral paper, Roca was interrupted by the sudden jingling if the door bell. She peered up from her workspace and saw a young man stepping through the doorway. His familiar red-violet hair still as unkempt as ever and he had grown a bit taller since his last visit.

"Well, if it isn't one of my regulars. Welcome back, Kieren."

He has visited Roca's shop on the same date for five consecutive years and orders the same arrange of flowers each visit. The first time he came, he was not alone. Roca could still recall that day when an unusual looking pair had entered the store looking for funeral flowers. A tall, dark woman and a secluded-looking teen with vibrant hair seemed out of place among the fragile flowers of the store. Their unusualness was emphasized with their extraordinary eyes. They were called Harbingers, a sweet man told Roca once. He also said that she was one of them too. Roca couldn't understood why society looked down on these Harbingers. The pair strode up to her and curtly made their request. As Roca prepared a bouquet, the woman introduced herself as the boy’s mentor. The boy was called Kieren.

“He’ll be coming here for a while to buy flowers for the man he recently killed.” Kieren’s mentor had said this with such casualness that it surprised Roca. The topic of murder was new to Roca during her time in the City but she was told that murder is a serious crime and only crazy villains performed it. Roca observed Kieren again. How could this boy be such a bad person? He’s so… young. He couldn’t possibly be so dreadful. But then again I shouldn’t be the one to judge who is terrible or not. After a few moments, Roca handed them a bouquet of snow white roses accented with Baby’s Breath and Lily Grass. “That will be 36 credits please.”

Snapping back to reality, Roca gave a warm smile to Kieren even though he seemed gloomy every time he visited. “How have you been doing?” Roca was worried about Kieren; she sensed a nervous and sullen aura attached to him like a shadow. After all these years, she was able to make some small talk with him and she felt that he was not the bloodthirsty killer his mentor had labeled him as.

“Should I go prepare the usual arrangement?” she asked. With the nod of Kieren’s head, Roca went to work wrapping the white roses he had bought every year. Tightening the white satin ribbon around the stems, Roca noticed a commotion just outside her store. She made out the shape of two figures standing next to the flower display outside. Turning to Kieren, Roca gestured to him. “Stay right here, I’ll be back after helping those customers outside.”

Xiana didn’t really want to trust the man, after all, Kota was never happy about the fact that she was almost always constantly lead away by strangers (luckily he was always around when it happens). Xiana changed her mind and began to withdraw her hand back, but the man’s grip began to tighten around her fingers.

“I think I can find my way home by myself, thank you." But he didn't let go. "Sir?” She asked with confusion. He pulled her towards the other direction of which she came from. The grip around her hand made her feel as if her bones were being shattered, “Ow, sir, please stop.” She begged in a soft voice. Xiana felt confused. What happened to the nice man who was going to help her back home?

“Silly child, you didn’t really think I was going to take you home now did you?” He chuckled.

“Wh-what do you mean?” She shivered in fear, remembering the time Kota explained to her about people called pedophiles. Ah, Kota had told her to run away fast, but she couldn’t break free from his grasp. Warm liquid formed in her starry eyes and rolled down her cheeks.

And that’s when a beautiful lady appeared.

Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier] Empty Re: Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier]

Post by Kier Thu Sep 20, 2012 12:34 pm

That day, that first day, was the morning after the night that drunk died. The ID in his wallet had printed his name as 'Sierra McKinson', well he couldn't really read it but that's what Lenah had told him. When she dragged him into the flower shop in the North, Kieren was sick to his stomach from being so damn close to his parents' work building. From the shop front you could see the sleek black building even back then. There had been two shopkeepers those times, a man and a woman. Lenah had done all the talking, unnecessarily giving away the reason for their visit. All Kieren had said was his name, and that was only a mutter under his breath. The lady hadn't seem to take them that seriously but Lenah didn't care. Hell, this was her fault anyway.

"Well, if it isn't one of my regulars. Welcome back, Kieren. How have you been doing?"

Kier's head snapped up at the mention of his full name, the flashbacks ending. He gave her a small smile, so unlike his usual playful ones. Though he supposed she had never saw those before since he was only here on one of the worst days of the year. "Hey Roca, nice seeing you again. I've been fine, same as usual." Not that he expected her to know his usual self.

“Should I go prepare the usual arrangement?” He merely nodded in agreement, not exactly being the expert in funeral flowers or arrangement. He watched the woman expertly tie the white blossoms together into a elegant bundle. After several minutes she looked past him and to the window, where the girl and pedophile were still arguing.

“Stay right here, I’ll be back after helping those customers outside.”

Customers? What the hell. Could she really not know what the man intended to do and that he had zero interest in buying flowers. He had his little flower in his grasp already. They argued, mostly bickering, a bit before the fat man pulled a knife at Roca. Kier couldn't hear through the window but it looked like he was threatening them. Well, no shit he was threatening them. He wouldn't pull a knife otherwise.

Kier stepped outside next to the older woman, staring down at the pedophile. He had at least six inches on the stout guy. The man seemed to panic from the vibrant color of his eyes, the orange-to-blue tone had that effect on regular people. The girl he had his grip on was a Harbinger. Her eyes swirled in a space-like dark blues and purples, glistening with tears. Now why didn't she just use her mutation, unless it was the defensive type.

"Stay away. Just walk away and we'll all be happy!"

Kier snorted. "Yeah, you've made that reeeally obvious. How bout you just drop the girl and walk away?" A tone that began sarcastic quickly went dark. He wasn't in the mood for this, not today, and if this guy didn't GTFO in the next ten seconds, things were going to get messy.

Roca strode past Kier and toward the front door. Watching the figures standing outside, she noticed they were moving quite a lot. As the young woman pulled open the faded yellow door, she heard a man's deep voice chuckling, “Silly child, you didn’t really think I was going to take you home now did you?” Roca froze at the doorway, staring a large, elderly man wrapping his arms tightly against a petite and rather cute girl.

The young girl was beginning to form tears in her eyes which caused Roca to notice how colorful they were. She's one of those Harbingers... observed Roca. She took a step forward which caught the attention of the pair. The elderly man's greasy face snapped up to Roca's direction and his surprised eyes widened even more as he noticed Roca's deep honey eyes accented with cyan and magenta.

Roca struggled to pull a straight face at the man's priceless expression and confronted him with a "Good afternoon, what seems to be the trouble here?" when he suddenly interrupted,
"BACK OFF YOU OLD HAG!" Irked by his rudeness, her eyes narrowed and her hand tensed slightly. She has never encountered a situation like this and began to analyze her choices. She was told to handle problematic people quickly and effectively. The young girl's face contorted with pain as the man's meaty hands gripped her fragile neck. Roca thought, This man is deliberately causing pain, this is the type of man HE told me should be disposed of. Scum of the earth HE said. Roca lifted her hand but the elderly man saw this as an assault and suddenly drew a short blade out. Slightly trembling, his hand pointed the blade at Roca. The young girl whimpered at the sight of the blade, fear apparent in her eyes. The man took a weak step forward and thrust the weapon at Roca. The assaulter's stance was weak and he moved too slowly which caused Roca to easily dodge his attack. The man began to look like a nervous wreck until Kieren stepped out from the shop door.

The pedophile's knees were visibly shaking and his face had became a few shades paler. "Stay away. Just walk away and we'll all be happy!" he wailed. His eyes were now cemented on Kieren. Roca glanced at the red-head and noticed that his gloomy disposition was suddenly replaced by a dark dark dark, glare. He growled out, "Yeah, you've made that reeeally obvious. How bout you just drop the girl and walk away?"

Out of panic and desperation, the fat man brought the blade to the young girl's neck. "STEP AWAY OR I'LL STICK THIS INTO HER PRETTY LITTLE NECK" he squealed. "This man is so ungraceful..." Roca muttered under her breath. The bright blade quivered slightly on her light skin. Tears rolled down the young girl's eyes. Why is she so quiet? Roca wondered.

Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier] Empty Re: Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier]

Post by Xiana Tue Oct 16, 2012 10:48 pm

"Yeah, you've made that reeeally obvious. How bout you just drop the girl and walk away?" A voice from a red haired man cut through the air. Xiana watched the man, who looked very irritated, joined the blonde haired woman by the doorway of the shop. Tears streamed down Xiana's pale face. She didn't want anyone to get hurt, not for her sake.

The blade was now up against her neck, pressing against her bare skin. It was cold and painful although the plump kidnapper was not pressing it down very hard. Xiana looked up at the man and woman before her. With her eyes she begged them to stop, hoping they would understand her plea.

Her captor squeezed her neck with his hand and pulled her body closer to him as if she was his shield. The salty water from her eyes flowed down onto the knife, glittering in the sun before it rolled to the floor. Xiana gasped as the pressure of the blade intensified, ready to cut down into her fragile skin.

The sudden movement caught her off guard. She felt her body being pulled forward almost instantly. The girl stumbled, almost hitting the ground, when a pair of slender arms caught her frail body. Looking up, she saw a pair of honey colored eye with a rim of magenta and a speckles of blue staring down at her. She was about to whip her head back, but the lady shook her head and covered the young girls ears.

Xiana was beginning to feel safe when a stabbing pain came from right below her chin. Her hand flew instantly up to touch it. As she pulled her hand back, she saw a red pool had formed in the palm of her hand. Just like her tears, the blood began to flow down.

"Oh, no, no, no," she repeated over and over.

Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier] Empty Re: Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier]

Post by Kier Sat Oct 20, 2012 5:00 pm

Pathetic. That was Kier's thoughts when the fat man started waving around a blade that he probably didn't know how to use properly. What an idiot, to start a commotion outside a store in the freaking morning. He didn't even budge when Kier had told him off despite the deadly air. Slipping his hand into his pocket, Kier fingered his brass knuckles. It had been a while since they were put to good use.

Right as Roca extracted the young girl into her arms, Kier began to step towards the frightened man in front. The knife was still held out, the hand shaking with fear. Kier had to give him credit for not running, not that he would get very far if he did.

Armed now, the red haired man removed his hands from his pockets and help them up in a ready position. His body slid fluidly into the stance as if it was as simple as breathing. He'd done it so much in the past, Lenah having drilled him before each spar until it was second nature for him. It wasn't a formal martial arts stance- more of a loose and flexible one fit for street brawling.

Kier was ready when the man lunged for him, dodging easily by take a small step left and following through with a right jab. The metal knuckles made contact with his squishy gut, causing the man to cough out. Without waiting to recover, the man attacked again. The taller man caught a pudgy arm and squeezed the fat hard. The man cried out and dropped the knife with a clatter, horror clouding into his brown eyes. Not releasing his hold, he asked, "Are you sure you don't want to run?" He was feeling generous despite his sour mood so if the guy wanted to walk away know, he would be given the chance.

"H-haha hahaha h-haha-a-ha. You w-wouldn't let me would y-you? You Hargbingers are all the same, violent and o-only girls like her a-are good f-f-for--"

The man didn't get to finished he fevered speech because Kier closed his other hand around his throat, cutting off the windpipe. More like his sentence sputtered off at the end, sounding more like "forbhjasnnd." It wasn't really the Harbinger comment that pissed him off. It was the fact that the dumbass didn't high-tail out of here when it was clear victory was impossible for him.

"Oh, no, no, no."

Blinking, Kier was brought back to the situation, not the dark memories of McKinson. He gave a quick jolt to the guy's neck and let him crumble to the ground, alive of course. As much as Kier would love to put him out of his misery, he didn't deserve it.

The little girl behind him was chanting nonono over and over again. His eyes widened at the sight. Her pale hand against a neck that was spilling out blood like it was nobody's business. The cut couldn't have been that deep, but something was wrong.

Hurrying over to her, he pressed his palm over the girl's, hoping the added pressure would staunch the bleeding a little more. With his left hand, he pulled out his cell phone and dialed 911. "We need an ambulance here. A little girl was knifed and the blood isn't stopping....Where? Uh," He passed the phone to the store keeper. "Can you give them your address?" The girl better not die now. That would just make his day all the more better-- Sarcasm intended.

Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier] Empty Re: Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier]

Post by Roca Mon Nov 05, 2012 1:51 am

Despite the sudden turn of events, Roca had focused her attention on the young girl’s wound. The woman was too engrossed into the fight to notice a dark scarlet river discharging unnaturally from the girl’s neck earlier. Lowering herself to the girl’s eyelevel, Roca was about to apply pressure to the cut to prevent further blood loss but Kieren was already next to them in a blink of an eye.

Kieren swiftly dialed 911 on his phone and briskly told the emergency operator, “We need an ambulance here. A little girl was knifed and the blood isn't stopping....Where? Uh, can you give them your address?”

Roca quickly replied, “109 S. Boracay Avenue. It’s a few blocks away from the police station.” As she turned back to the young girl, Roca caught a movement in the corner of her eye. She turned to see the pathetic man stagger away as fast as he could. She returned her attention to the girl when she made sure he was gone.

It has only been few minutes since she was cut, but her fragile face obtained a deathly pallor and her eyelids drooped. The collar of her coat has turned into a frightening shade of crimson as her blood continued to seep out of the wound despite Kieren’s effort to slow it.

At this rate, the girl is going to lose too much blood and the paramedics will not arrive in time to help… There is a solution, it’s not the best method but it’s all we can do for now. I may be able to cauterize the wound to save her but I have never worked on a human being before. Would cauterizing the end of flower stems be similar to cauterizing a wound on someone else…?

Placing her hand on Kieren’s shoulder, Roca motioned him to stand back. She swooped up the young girl into her arms and headed into the flower shop. “Please clear that counter, Kieren.”

After Kieren had pushed the various rolls of ribbon off the surface, Roca carefully placed the girl onto it. She examined the wound and gasped at the unrelenting flow of blood. Roca focused on the familiar tingling sensation in her hands as she rolled up her sleeves. Out of habit, she began to knead her palms as the tingling shifted into a warm feeling and brought herself closer to the girl’s neck.

Although her years of training to control her Harbinger mutation had taught her to master her powers, Roca was nervous about the current situation since she had rarely revealed her mutation to others and she had never used her power on another person in this way. She pushed aside her thoughts and ignored a confused Kieren standing behind her as she concentrated the warmth into one of her fingertips. The intense heat radiating from her finger would have toasted the girl’s neck but was quickly replaced by a lower degree that was appropriate for the process.

The towel she used to clean the girl’s wound was readily soaked red after a couple of gentle wipes and had stained Roca’s hand. After clearing the area somewhat, her fingertip hovered over the cut and applied heat as she diligently moved down the incision. The blood began to stop spewing as the heat sealed her skin together, closing up the slit. Seeing that the wound had been successfully closed, she stretched out her fingers as she dissipated the heat in her finger until it was back to normal. Roca wondered why the girl wasn’t crying out or even flinching at the pain of her skin being burned, so she peered up at her face and found that the girl had already knocked out.

Oh no. At least the wound has been closed; maybe she lost too much blood already?

Roca’s stained hands dripped with blood as she grabbed a moist towel that Kieren had prepared for her. The blood on the girl’s neck was so caked that the young woman had some difficulty rubbing it off as carefully as she could without disturbing the recently burned flesh. A fresh scar stood out in stark contrast to the girl’s porcelain-like skin as Roca began to clear her neck of the remaining blood. A blaring siren shattered the silence in the shop as the ambulance sped down the street.

“All we can do now is to hope that she didn’t lose too much of her blood to be saved”, Roca exhaled as she turned to Kier.

Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier] Empty Re: Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier]

Post by Kier Wed Nov 07, 2012 1:56 am

Kier frowned when Roca took the girl instead of his cell. Not sparing more than a second to ponder over it, he recited the address to the lady on the other end. As she continued on with small details to 'stay calm' and 'be patient for the ambulance', the red head had half his attention on the girl, whose consciousness was fading fast. Behind him he could hear the shifting of the rapist--failed rapist--limped off, most likely to a police station to report something along the lines of: 'A Harbinger assaulted and almost killed me! I barely managed to escape before he snapped my neck in two.' Etc. etc.

The red head was reluctant to remove his hand from the girl's neck, since it was the only thing blocking the intense hemorrhaging, which didn't feel like it was slowing in the least. He only retracted the hand once the girl was in the florists arms and could not help but grimace at the blood that spurted to hit the air once more, crimson and hungry for oxygen. It was a wonder she wasn't dead yet, considering how small and fragile she came off to be.

"Please clear that counter, Kieren."

He followed the blonde back into the store and shoved the rolls of ribbon and wrapping paper to the ground, the clatter of the scissors and knives on the floor echoing in the silence of the store.

Watching Roca move a hand to the girl's pale neck, Kier could see a faint glow emitting into the air. He knew she was a Harbinger, but never her ability. What was it, he wondered. Could she be a human heater? But no, there was already someone else on the Index with that ability, though he had never met him. He'd ask her later after this whole situation was under control.

His eyes widened when she closed the gap, the steady flow of blood cut off as the wound was sealed into a jagged scar. A healing ability then? But no, that normally would not leave behind any mark. Kier watched the woman for a restitution to kick in but was pulled away from it by the sirens of the ambulance.

Soon, several paramedics bearing a stretcher strode in and swiftly deposited the girl on before heading back out to the open doors of the trunk. One of the paramedics glanced at the remaining pair, jet black eyes silently asking if they were coming along. "You should go, Roca, in case they wonder about how you closed the gash. She'll probably need a blood transfusion."

Kier looked back at the woman still watching them. Something about her darkened skin, her eyes, the way she held his gaze was so strange. It wasn't a feeling he could describe. It bordered between familiarity and unease. It was a weight that wouldn't shake even as he climbed into the ambulance with Roca and the other paramedics. He held on the the pole of the truck as the girl was being examined on the spot. One of the male paramedics pulled the florist over to ask her about the closed incision and whether it was harmful.

While she explained to them, the particular female paramedic from earlier stepped up next to the red- head. She was tall for a woman, coming up to his nose. Her raven hair was fashioned in a long fishtail braid down her back. She didn't say anything, but didn't join the rest of her crew either. Kier tried to ignore her and the feeling she was giving him.

Reaching the hospital, the crew rushed their patient to the ER along with Roca, leaving behind the woman to lead him inside to the waiting room. She still said nothing. "Is she okay?" he asked, a little less out of concern and more for wanting to hear the woman speak. He saw the back of her head give a curt nod before her hand gestured to an empty seat. And still, she lingered there.

"Do I know you? Are you waiting for a light bulb to switch on? Because I'm going to tell you right now, that probably won't happen." He was clearly getting a a bit irritated now. On top of returning to the North, he had to deal with a rapist and now this frustrating woman trying to be mysterious.

"No." She gave a small smile and turned on her heel to stalk back to the ER as if she was frustrated with him. God, what the fuck. He blew out a deep breathe and knocked his head against the wall behind the chair. He didn't care anymore. He wasn't going to bother.

Closing his eyes, he waited patiently for Roca to return.

Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier] Empty Re: Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier]

Post by Roca Wed Nov 14, 2012 4:01 am

It was only a matter of minutes until the paramedics had shipped them off to the hospital in an ambulance. It must have seemed like a mass murder scene with the incredible amount of blood all over the place. The girl was swathed in blankets and was put onto a stretcher as a swarm of paramedics gathered around her to perform their task.

Kier and Roca were crammed into the back of the ambulance with the girl. They had left in such haste, that the woman didn't get the chance to close up shop. Despite this, she was more concerned about the girl.

The car came to a halt and its back doors swung open. Roca and Kier followed behind the stretcher and the paramedics as they rushed into the hospital. Inside, Roca was too preoccupied following the stretcher to notice Kier suddenly pulled aside by one of the paramedics. She began to notice his absence as they had rushed down a hallway and into an ER when another paramedic led her to a waiting room. She sat alone in a small green room racked with magazines and newspapers and picked up an issue about the City's Fall Carnival.

Where is Kieren? Im guessing he's still being questioned by that one paramedic downstairs in the lobby. Oh, I hope that  the child is alright. Roca flipped through the pages of her magazine to push aside her worried thoughts as she sensed her restitution start to flush into her mind.

She was already reading her sixth magazine when a nurse walked into the room. The nurse implored, "You are with the patient that came in earlier today from Boracay Avenue, yes?" With the nod of Roca's head, the nurse motioned for Roca to follow her. She was led down a hall and into a patient room. The nurse pulled back a curtain in the middle of the room and revealed a small figure lying on the bed. It was the little girl, and she was fast asleep; her chest slightly quivering in each breath.

Thank god she's still alive.

Roca was a bit dazed due to her restitution and had decided to go back downstairs to check up on Kier. She walked back to the lobby to find Kier sleeping, or so it seems, with his eyes closed and his arms crossed against his chest. This was the first time Roca had ever seen Kier with such a peaceful expression; he had always been gloomy every time he had visited the shop. The young woman sat down on a seat next to him and waited for him to wake up. Stretching her tired feet, she felt her restitution fully kicking in as her headache suddenly intensified. Letting her mind drift, she closed her eyes in an attempt to alleviate the headache but her additional fatigue lured her into a sweet sleep.

Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier] Empty Re: Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier]

Post by Xiana Sat Nov 24, 2012 2:56 pm

Xiana couldn't breathe. She could feel pressure on her chest making it harder and harder to open her mouth. The girl blinked her eyes open and tried her best to swim towards the surface. One hand clutching her neck as her other hand reached up, desperately searching for something to grab. She could feel herself fading away, sinking deeper the more she attempted to get out of the cold water. The girl felt tangled within the waters. She forced open her mouth to call out for help, but she couldn't get anything out. Water filled her lungs, drowning her. Her salty tears mixed with the river. She closed her eyes and gave up, deciding to let herself drift away, but before she knew it the water had disappeared.

Xiana coughed and gasped for air. Breathing hardly, she realized that the river was now about a feet high. She sat in the water as she tried to steady herself. The girl was shaking from not just the cold but the fear of dying still lingered in her mind. As she stood up, her dress turned from a pale blue to a dark red. Xiana's eyes grew wide and immediately scanned the area for something strange. Sure enough the water that was once a clear crystal blue was now red. She took a step back, the  red liquid rushing against her ankles.

The girl screamed in horror when she realized the red liquid had come from herself, how it was her own blood trickling down to contaminate the river. She clutched her bleeding neck with both her hands, squeezing her throat tighter hoping, praying, crying for the blood to stop. She took a step back and tripped over one of the many smooth stones along the river bed and in the process she scraped her knee causing more blood to flow out of her open wounds. With no medical experience or any clue of where she was, all she could do was wait for death to come to her door. With one final scream...

Her eyes snapped wide open and scanned the room. Using her elbow to prop herself up, Xiana looked around to find herself inside a typical hospital room. White, boring, and plain. She shivered, feeling abnormally cold and weak. She took deep breaths to prevent overexerting herself and tried to recall her last memory, but her mind was trying to let her know that she needed to rest properly. The girl laid back down onto the bed and forced her eyes to stay open. The last thing she wanted would be to fall asleep. She blinked rapidly to keep her eyelids from drooping down any farther than they already had gone.

The immensely quiet room was already beginning to put her on a edge. It bothered her. Every creek or motion made her flinched. She had been extremely careful ever since her last visit to the hospital and sadly she had hoped that she would never be back there again. Although three years did pass since then and for such a fragile girl like Xi, that was the longest she had ever avoided giant white buildings with doctors and nurses.

She could remember that incident like it was yesterday even if she wished it would just disappear from her mind. It had been the day after her mother unofficially disowned her, tossed her out of the house, and told her to never set foot back there again. Xiana had met Eden, one of her closet friend now, who treated to her wounds back then. Eden, though, only treated to her external wound and they were both unaware of the internal bleeding that her body was suffering until the next day when she collapsed outside. Xiana was so sure they had stuck multiple needles inside of her skin even though everyone told her it was just her hallucinations. The irony in that was that they didn't bother to give her any medicine for the pain or just in general. They assumed that because she was a harbinger. . .

Besides the fear of death and needles, Xiana had developed one against hospitals too. Tossing and turning on the bed, she finally pulled the tube and the tape attached to arm and pushed herself off the bed.

She wobbled a bit as her mind blacked out due to the sudden blood rush. Xi clutched the side of the bed post as her mind cleared. Soon after, she headed to a small restroom at the side of her room and saw in the mirror that all color in her complex had drained. She tilted her head up and examined the small scar right below her chin. Tiny, but visible if someone was looking for it. She brushed her finger around the hard jagged line and swallowed hard. It still stung. Proceeding to look at her ghostly face, she recognized the egg colored dress that the hospital had changed her in to.

The black haired female peered back into the bedroom and spotted her blue dress which was now stained a bloody red. Upset, she looked into the hallway of her floor for any signs of a familiar face. The bustling doctors and nurses paid no attention to her and she walked out to the lobby, wondering how she was going to get home.

All the chairs in the room were lined up in rows and many families, some extraordinary happy, and some with tears streaming down their faces, we're scattered around. Xiana wandered aimlessly around, looking for a door or something that lead to the exit. It was then a familiar red hair stood out in the blur of black and white scenery. Xiana stumbled towards him, avoiding as much human contact with others as possible. Her eyes trailed on the floor to avoid eye contact and angry looks that we're thrown her way.

Upon a closer look, her memories began to return to her. She recognized the lady who caught her after she was pulled away from the creepy man. Now, she was sleeping on the red headed mans who also looked as if he was resting. Unsure of where else to go, she plopped herself down on the other side of the older man and swung her legs back and forth, waiting for them to wake.

Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier] Empty Re: Concerning the Safety of Small Ones [Roca] [Xiana] [Kier]

Post by Kier Sun Nov 25, 2012 5:13 am

Kier wasn't sleeping at all, merely closing his eyes. But to others it probably looked like he was. Quite a bit of time had passed since the girl had gone in. He wondered how she was doing. With Roca's quick first aid, it shouldn't be life threatening, unless Kier had taken a lot longer fighting that rapist than he thought. That couldn't be it right? It wasn't even a fight worth mentioning and surely it could not have taken more that ten minutes at most. There was no way the doctors were cruel enough to let her die for being a Harbinger either. The law may not work in Harbinger's favor much of the time, but they still had basic human rights. And plus, Roca was in there with them. She could easily threaten them if need be.

He felt a light tap on his shoulder as a weight settled there. Lifting his head off the wall he turned to see the older woman sleeping soundly against him. How long had she been here? I mean, she could have called him. Again, he wasn't sleeping.

Rather than shake her awake, he let her be. She had just fallen asleep after all, and she must be tired from today's events. Most likely her restitution, whatever it was, had taken it's toll on her too. So he just watched her face, which looked significantly younger when it was relaxed and not burdened by the world. Or her husband's death. Kier didn't know the details of it but he was gone, presumably dead just like Akuji's sister, though there was no evidence to back up the claim. He wondered how Roca had taken the news. He had only visited her once a year starting five years ago and every time she had a pleasant aura about her. It was like she wasn't affected at all. But that was wrong. She was just much better at excepting death.

Somehow that thought made Kier felt immature compared to the older woman. He brooded over that man's death for so long, when it wasn't even one of a the worst things a person could do. He was not the most unfortunate, or the most hurt so why was he acting all dark and emo? Maybe the first two years at most, but after that he should have moved on. This was pathetic coming from a man who supposedly loved to fight. What kind of fighter was afraid of killing? Fights aren't about the most kills, but the kills made shouldn't become a hindrance. Lenah had told him similar.

"I'm not telling you to go out killing every sorry bastard you meet, but if you do, don't think too much on it. He was meant to die, so he did."

Speaking Lenah, that woman ominously resembled her so much to the extent that he was beginning to think the paramedic was his mentor. In his thoughts, Kier hadn't realized his eyes drifted back closed again. So when he opened them to get up and find the lady, he saw the little girl idly swinging her legs on the chair next to him. She still looked a bit pale but stronger now.

"Hey, kid. You're all good now?" He turned to wake wake Roca, shaking her shoulder lightly.
