Another Day, Another Injury -- Andrew, Marjorie ((canon))
- Spoiler:
- Wing: Andrew was humming softly, jogging down the street. He was heading toward Marjorie's, planning to drag her out somewhere - maybe take her to meet Halt if he could get her to agree to it. Otherwise, he'd just take her out for lunch and they could go run around a park.
Ella: Marjorie was sleeping in, this time her phone pushed away so she couldn't be bothered with Andrew's incessant texting. She was curled up tight, too tired to dream.
Wing: Huffing softly at how she wasn't responding, he shrugged and shoved his phone into his pocket then started across the street, forgetting to look as he went. And by the time he saw the car, it was too late to move or even throw himself into the air. So he was hurt by the initial collision, but his power came into effect and protected him from the other ones and he was left laying in the street, blood on his face from where his head had hit the windshield. When his restitution faded enough that he could walk, he waved off the offers of help with a laugh, saying that he was fine, he was a harbinger (and that got rid of most of the people), and that he had a friend nearby.
Holding his ribs, he made his way up to Marjorie's door and knocked.
Ella: She groaned at the noise. "Go away...I already did my work for the day," she called out, pulling her pillow over her head, thinking it was one of Carter's cronies.
Wing: He let out a soft laugh. "Sorry Kermit, but I'm not sure how far I can get," he said, moving in a few steps before he swayed badly and crumpled, hitting the floor with a dull thud and a pained groan.
Ella: She sat up, pillow falling off her head. She pulled her blanket over her shoulders before crawling over to him, moving to shut the door first. She reached out to feel for his face since she neglected to grab his glasses. "I'm seeing red Andrew and it's not where hair is...what happened?" she asked, wide eyed and scared, but awake.
Wing: He jerked his head away with a hiss of pain as she found the wound. "Got hit by a car crossing the street," he mumbled then frowned as he looked at her. "You should wear more stuff to bed."
Ella: "I wasn't expecting a guest." She felt the empty space where his head was. "What do you need me to do?" she asked, trying to remember where her glasses were.
Wing: "Make sure I don't die?" he joked with a laugh then a wince as he jostled his ribs. "Otherwise, I've got some band-aids you can put on my head after it gets cleaned." He forced his eyes open again, not sure if he had a concussion and not wanting to go to sleep if he did.
Ella: "You know, that's an awful lot of pressure you're putting on me." She padded away, finding her glasses and then going to the sink for water. She knelt next to his head again, wiping away the blood carefully. "Where all do you hurt?"
Wing: "Everywhere?" He gave a somewhat sickly smile. "Mostly my head and my ribs and my hip and shoulder and just my entire left side."
Ella: "A lot of pressure," she repeated, pushing his hair back lightly as she kept cleaning him up. "Maybe you should get into my bed."
Wing: His smile managed to turn teasing. "Only if you're going to be in it with me."[/color]
Ella: "I might. I'm tired." She went to rinse the washcloth out, leaving behind the blanket this time so - if he was looking - he could see a few bruises on her thighs, as well as some fresh cuts. She knelt again. "Where are those bandages?"
Wing: He shifted so that they could get his backpack off. "In there." He frowned, reaching out to brush his fingertips over her thigh. "What happened to you?"
Ella: She winced and pulled away. "My arms are too full of scars," she said, pulling his bag off carefully. "And I run into stuff sometimes. That's all." She pulled the bandages out triumphantly.
Wing: "Those don't look like you ran into something though," he muttered, laying on his back.
Ella: "Your head is playing tricks on you." She started wrapping his head carefully, if a bit clumsily. "That's all."
Wing: He gave her a skeptical look but dropped the subject. He could ask some other time. "Thanks for doing this for me."
Ella: "It's not like I can make you go to Ceara," she said dryly, finishing. "Think you can make it to my mattress? It's not comfy but it's softer."
Wing: He rolled over and tried to push to his feet with a grunt. He managed to make it half way to upright before his leg gave out and sent him to the floor again. Then he said screw it and just kind of pushed himself along the floor until he could roll onto the mattress. "Thanks again."
Ella: She followed behind him worriedly, pushing her hair back and smoothing it anxiously. "What should I do?" she asked nervously, biting her lip and chewing.
Wing: Andrew fumbled his phone out then gestured her down next to him. "Set my alarm for two hours from now and wake me up. Ask me what my name is, your name, the date, and a couple other questions that you know I should know the answer to. Simple math is fine too. If I answer it all correctly or only miss one, let me go back to sleep. If I don't or don't wake up, call the numbers marked Aiden and Halt. And Ceara, of course, then call an ambulance."
Ella: She took the phone, setting the alarm carefully. She had the blanket again and after a moment of hesitation, curled up to him underneath it, not caring that she was all but naked and he was injured. She held his phone to her chest quietly.
Wing: He shifted so that he was laying on his back then wrapped his good arm around her and pressed a light kiss to her forehead. "I'm going to be fine. Don't worry. I've had worse. Did I tell you about the time Ceara pushed me in front of a car?"
Ella: "Nooo..." She looked up at him briefly before pressing as close as she dared, closing her eyes.
Wing: He let out a soft laugh, pulling her closer. "Yeah, I had texted her and my friend Aiden to hang out, without telling them why or that the other was coming. I think I just sent them the address of the place I was at and said to come asap. I didn't think they'd drop everything. Well, while Ceara was yelling at me, she decided she was going to play a joke on Aiden and push me in front of a car. I didn't know that she was going to do that though and got hurt. 'Course, it wasn't really her fault since she knew I had been hit by a cargo truck and been fine. She just didn't know I needed a bit of warning first."
Ella: "You need to stay away from cars," she mumbled, pulling his good arm over him. "Andrew, I'm so tired..." she peeked up at him before yawning.
Wing: He nodded, eyes starting to close as well. Sleep sounded great - it would be an escape from the pain for a little. "Okay. We'll both sleep." He pressed his lips to her forehead then set his head down and fell asleep almost immediately.
Ella: She shifted a bit, making sure he wasn't bleeding still before she went to sleep as well, a bit uneasily. The alarm made her jump and she rolled away from Andrew before realized who he was."Ok...not a dream." She crawled back to the mattress and poked his cheek. "Andrew?"
Wing: He didn't respond, still sleeping.
Ella: She jabbed him a bit, squishing his cheeks together. "Andrew? Wake uuup. I need to make sure you don't have a concussion."
Wing: He grumbled a little and made a vague movement that might have been an attempt to swat her hands away but didn't get anywhere close enough to actually do anything.
Ella: "God you're a heavy sleeper." She poked his nose before shaking his good arm. "Andrew! Wake up turnip head!"
Wing: " 'f 'm a turnip, wha're you?" he slurred a little, cracking his eyes open. Oh geez did he hurt. " 'n 'm 'nly a he'v sleeper when 'm hurt 'r feel safe."
Ella: "My hair isn't red," she pointed out, rocking back on her heels. "What's your name?" she asked.
Wing: He whined softly. "Marjorie... Lemme go back to sleep," he protested, not even remotely thinking that she might think that was his answer and she could start to panic.
Ella: "Uh..." She pulled out the phone, hands shaking. "That's not your name. I should call those people then." She started scrolling through the contacts, not remembering Aiden and going straight for Halt.
Wing: He blinked then reached out with his bad arm, stopping short with a hiss of pain. "Marjorie, no, my name is Andrew. Yours is Marjorie. You're Kermit."
Ella: "Then why didn't you say that from the start! You told me to make sure you didn't have a concussion." She snapped the phone shut even as it dialed Halt's number, cutting it off. "You can't scare me like that."
Wing: "Sorry," he mumbled, lightly rubbing his shoulder. "And didn't I say if I got more than one question wrong?" he teased.
Ella: "Shut up," she said, frowning at him. "Three plus five."
Wing: "Eight." He grunted softly as he sat up.
Ella: "What are you doing?" she asked, watching him.
Wing: He blinked and glanced at himself then her. "Sitting up?"
Ella: "I thought you were tired." She curled up a bit, legs to her chest.
Wing: "I am. I just need to stretch a little so I don't cramp up. And see if I have any aspirin in my bag. Then I'm going back to sleep." He glanced at her again. "And so are you."
Ella: "I'm fine," she protested, getting up to pull his bag over again, digging through it for a pill bottle.
Wing: He snorted softly. "You've got bags under your eyes and you're tired enough to 'walk into things'. Plus, it's late and cold and curling up with someone is the best way to keep warm."
Ella: "You're one to talk, walking out in front of a car." She pulled out a bottle with a small smile. "Let me get you a glass of water." She stood and brought a small plastic cup back, pouring out a couple pills into her hand. "Here."
Wing: He stopped stretching and took them, swallowing the pills with a drink of water. "Thanks," he said with a smile before drinking the rest of the water. Yawning, he carefully laid down again.
Ella: "Do I need to wake you up again?" Marjorie asked, packing things up again.
Wing: "Yeah, might be a good idea," he answered, eyes closed. He lifted his good arm to gesture her over again. "Now come sleep."
Ella: She set the alarm for four hours this time. "Aren't you worried I might fall in love with you?" she joked as she crawled back in place, curling up at his side.
Wing: He laughed softly, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. "You can love more than one person if you want, but no. We're like siblings." He turned his head to bury his nose in her hair.
Ella: "Yes, a good big brother." She closed her eyes, yawning. "Who is kind of stupid," she added.
Wing: He laughed again. "I never claimed otherwise." He tugged her closer and dozed off, a light smile on his lips.
Ella: Marjorie didn't go to sleep immediately this time, clinging to Andrew. She was happy that he was there, even injured. "Much better..." She drifted off herself.
Wing: Andrew actually woke up before the alarm went off, carefully taking his phone from her lax hands to turn off the alarm. He was feeling a lot better and knew he was out of any danger zone so there was no need to wake her. He set his phone aside and pulled her close again, kissing her forehead again.
Ella: Marjorie let out a whimper, initially trying to pull away before giving up and pressing close with a sleepy sigh, clinging to his shirt.
Wing: He frowned, not liking that whimper or her light struggle. Something was seriously wrong, but he wanted her to come to him with it. Sighing softly, he decided that he'd give Marjorie a bit more time before pressing her.
Ella: Marjorie woke a little later, jumpy and nervous. She yawned before realizing that the phone was gone and sat up, hunting for it.
Wing: "It's behind me, calm down," Andrew mumbled, jolted from his doze again. He frowned at her lightly then wrapped his arm around her again, pulling her down without warning.
Ella: She squeaked and curled up around his arm, tense for only a moment. "I didn't know you were awake, sorry." She placed her hand over his, picking out the differences, some subtle, some not so much. "You're ok?"
Wing: "It's okay. And yeah, I am. What's bothering you though?"
Ella: "Nothing. I'm just not used to sharing my bed is all," she said quickly, blushing lightly.
Wing: He nodded slowly, not sure how much he believed her. "Okay." He yawned softly, shifting with a little grimace. "You hungry?"
Ella: She rolled over, narrowing her eyes as her stomach growled. "You are a mind reader."
Wing: He laughed, gingerly pushing himself up. "Nah. We're just alike and we're hungry like all the time because we don't eat enough." He poked her side. "I've got some extra credits, I'll pay. Get dressed."
Ella: "Okay." She pulled away from his finger before getting up, turning her back to him so she could change.
Wing: He was polite and turned his back as well, pulling out a spare shirt and slowly changing it. Best not to go out with a bloody shirt after all
Ella: She turned back, pulling on her boots. "Want help up?"
Wing: "Yeah, I might need it. But first..." He gave her a somewhat pathetic, pleading look. "Can you tie my shoes for me?"
Ella: "Of course," she laughed, bend down and tying them tightly before offering him her hand.
Wing: "Thanks." He accepted her hand and, once upright, tugged her into a gentle hug. "Thanks for taking care of me."
Ella: She would've buried her face in his stomach if he wasn't hurt but merely gave him a soft hug in return. "It's nothing. Lets go eat." She took his hand, squeezing it.
Wing: He gave a lopsided smile, still somehow charming even with the bruising along half his face, and nodded, wrapping his arm around her shoulders once they were on the street and walking.
Ella: Marjorie felt safe and happy as they walked to her favorite diner, despite it being dingy and dark. She sat in a corner booth, not even bothering to sit across from her friend.
Wing: He slid in next to her, draping his arm over the back of the seat behind her shoulders and absently played with her hair as he looked at the menu. "Go ahead and get whatever."
Ella: "Of course." She snuggled up to him, already knowing that she wanted the waffles. "Their burgers are good."
Wing: "Yep." Which was actually a little disappointing right now since Andrew's jaw hurt too much for him to be able to eat one. Oh well, their soup was good too.
He gave a small smile when their normal waitress came over to get their orders, fussing over Andrew at the same time. They were going to eat together then spend the rest of the day trying to cheer her up (not that he was going to let her know that was what he was doing).
